Dunno why they're using a site from Argentina but their post clearly mention japan
This is just a small post to highlight some new figures being designed here in Japan.

These are like, some of the best samurai I've seen. Very cool models. I'd be tempted to get them just to paint.

Ok looks like the blog update
*Technically* the miniatures themselves are not made in japan, but from Andrea miniatures.
Company selling them though is
Also no wonder Oda looked so familiar to me, these minis are slightly based off of the popular koei games like Kessen
MRF is a company here in Japan that wants to create a fast past samurai skirmish game in 32mm.
The models are based off of designs from Suwahara Hiroyuki 諏訪原 寛幸 (Japanese name order). He is a Japanese illustrator who has worked on Koei Video games like Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, Kessen etc. Suwahara Hiroyuki's homepage (Japanese)
Koei gameography (English)
The actual sculpting and production is being done by Andrea Miniatures.
The game system is currently being designed and I couldn't get any details to share but I can say that the Japanese have their own way of romanticizing samurai history which has constantly been a huge hit in the west. I am personally hoping for a 32mm scale version of the Samurai Warriors video game haha, but we'll have to wait and see :-)
Also Masamune Date joins the ranks and some better pics (more on the blog)

You know what I like about these guys? It seems like the first time I'm seeing samurai miniatures based on a Japanese perspective of what samurai looked like. And if they're designed by Suwahara Hiroyuki then that makes sense.

I agree, every time i see western game come out with "samurai" inspired miniatures, they look like caricatures, these look nice, ANDREA's first forray into 32mm? i have some of their 54mm stuff.

Thanks for the attention and stopping by my blog!
I decided to drop by this thread directly to say hello, and do my best to answer questions.
Right now the rules are still being designed and there probably won't be anything for sale until they have a more finished product ready.
This is a project I'm really excited about. I don't mind games set in "feudal somewhere Asia" but I think sticking to the real history of Japan will give a much richer experience.
I'll keep posting updates if I get any information to share.
...and if any of you live in Japan: come on down to the West Tokyo Wargamers! You might be able to see these figures for yourself.

The horse mounted Takeda Shingen is awesome. Though I wish they'd gone for a more dynamic pose for the "infantry" model than just trying to recreate the iconic (and likely mythical, lol) representation of him on his stool using the tessen to deflect Uesegi Kenshin's blows.

Ooohh....decided to take a look at Andrea and they do have the figures on there http://www.andreadepotusa.com/en/10/mrf/950/legends-of-the-samurai.html $40 for a model on foot and a mounted model. That might not be on GW's level of $25 per character, but quite steep never the less imo That and whoever painted them didnt paint them as good as these pics we have been seeing

Each set includes a mounted figure and a foot figure. Normally the horse is counted as a third figure.
You get three figures for the €39, which is high end and similar to GW character figures.
The detail looks great.

Andrea minis are usually oriented to the historical model maker rather than to gamers, so yes, they have always been a bit expensive.
