There was initially no practical reason to do so... they knew the old ones made them. And now, these made up gods are the most powerful!

So why did they start the "ork kult" ?

Once the Old Ones were forgotten, they needed something to account for why all their bodged kit seems to work fine, and why weirdboyz can flatten enemies on the field.

Why has the Imperium decided to venerate the Emperor as a god, when the man himself was after a totally secular Human society?

Why does any culture turn to religion? As a former Christian turned firm Atheist I have to agree with the idea.of explanation. God's are there to explain the.inexplainable.

And imagine how powerful a religion would seem if you're races inherent psychic ability manifested your beliefs into real tangible events.

On moon miranda.

Ork memories aren't exactly great, and the Warp is a reflection of the consciousness of mortal minds. Gork and Mork are actual Warp Gods, just like Khorne, Slaanesh, Nurgle and Tzeentch. Gork and Mork wouldn't have been something the Orks just made up one day, much as Slaanesh isn't just the Eldar god of BDSM, they were created by the emotions and actions of mortals and in turn created a self-feeding loop of certain emotions/states of mind lending strength to/birthing Gork/Mork.

^best answer thus far^
So all of the orks actions and high emotions created these gods, and then belief came later?

Why is that gork and mork are interested in their followers, unlike other gods?

For example, you can bow down to khorne, only to lose your head.... but if you give reverence to gork in a similar fashion, maybe you'll have a vision of waaaagh!

The Chaos gods are creates by the selfish emotions or races so it is assumed that the gods would be selfish themselves. While orks are on the outside a mean bunch of scummers their society can be compared to a drunk rugby team in outlook, so the gods they created would be equally 'fun'

Relictors: 1500pts

its safe to say that relictors are the greatest army a man , nay human can own.

The Ork gods are the sum of the gestalt Waaagh! field, spawned into existence by their own psychic presence and emotions.

They believe in the Ork gods because they created them.

And it is a testament to the size and dominance of the Ork population that the Ork gods are described as invincible and unbeatable by the third person narrative.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.
