Hi guys,
I'm a regular guard player and have been for years and have amassed a massive guard force (about 8000 points!)

I'm hoping to start a space marine chapter that is mainly mechanized but with a funny twist and no bright color schemes, any suggestions?

I'm sure we've all seen the hello kitty space marines or the Internets infamous 'pink fluffy landraider'! I fancy making something like that but less 'girly' and more humorous.

Any ideas?

Also just looking to make a 1000 point army for now, lousily based on this:

Master of the forge with command squad in razorback

Two razorbacks with lascannons an 5 man squads

two rhinos with 10 man tactical squads

some drednoughts

an a storm talon

suggestions?

Guard: 6000-8000 points ( I can't stop myself from buying more leman russ!)

Tau: 1750 points W/D/L 12/0/1

Well there are some crazy humor chapters out there already. Angry Marines or Pretty Marines for example. But both fall under the bright color category. (Pretty marines less so)
Then there are myPony marines and so on.

You could paint them in the colors of the rainbow, use orks in badly fitting space marine armor or bling them up like gangster rappers(don't have the link but there is a topic like that here on dakka) or make a death metal band out of them with groupies and long black hair.(more fitting for CSM)
You could model them after every cliché out there.
Do you want the humor to be based on color or more on pose or on conversions?

Make them Blood Bowl Superfans. Have Different letters across the shoulders that say "Catachan #1" or whatever. Get some of the flagpoles from Dark Eldar transports (DE players hate to use them so they're easy to find) and put them on your tanks and dreadnoughts. Maybe a long streamer flag trailing behind the stormtalon.

I thought about making a chapter for the Chicago bears US football team. Maybe your favorite sports team?

Do the Reclaimers from the Cain series. Lots of mk 6 armour and a womble theme

They also were keen on techmarines and suchlike to deal with all the stuff that others have left behind

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

The pretty marines look like a good idea, but a lot less pink, any ideas were I could get like male heads, not military more like long hair.

An I don't mind what color scheme they are just as long as its not bright pink or yellow.

btldoomhammer - what sort of clichés?
