That looks cool. Now, who can name all the big names? I saw silver samurai, it sounded like Omega Red... a few others looked familiar too.

I was skeptical, especially considering the naffness of the first one, but this looks rather awesome indeed.
Is this supposed to be set before or after the X-Men movies then? I was under the assumption that this was going to be set in time after he escaped from the Weapon X program but before he met the X-men. But what with all the modern tech and Jean Grey cameo it looks rather like a sequel rather than a preqel.

Yes. That movie was pretty bad, other than seeing the relationship with him and his brother. I found that part interesting.
Agreed. I liked that quite a bit, but I also like both those two actors when playing any "threatening vaguely angry dude" role.

For me, that was one of those rare movies that goes so far into terrible that it passes bad, agonizing, stupid, and "this movie is known for being terrible (usually just a tiny budget and everything else follows), so we're going to make you sit through it and tell you you're supposed to revel in some sort of hipster derogatory enjoyment", to become really funny. Don't know if it was the circumstances (since I've only seen it once), but I can't remember laughing harder at any movie.
I'll probably see this one too, but only because $10 at the pub theater can get you a pitcher of a local brew and a couch to enjoy it on, which sounds like a fun date night.
I like that it's set after X-Men 3. I mean, X-Men 3 was also pretty bad (but no where near as bad as Origins), but I'm glad that they're moving on and not just making prequel after prequel.
I'm afraid though for the actual plot, which seems to be:
1. Mopey still-not-over-Jean Wolverine wants to be someone else. 2. Finds a way to get rid of his healing power. 3. Is put into a situation where he needs his healing power. 4. Gets his healing power back. 5. Learns to live with his healing power.
It's a very dull arc, one already done (in one way or another) in Superman 2 and Spider-Man 2.

Well thenext one is Days of Future Past, which will be about Kitty time traveling between the past (First Class) and the possible future (X-Men 1~3) in an attempt to connect the stories and refresh the franchise. Almost everyone is signed on again and Bryan Singer is returning to directing the franchise. It will also have sentinel fights apparently.

Add that in X3 they did the whole 'curing mutant powers' thing and I pretty much had the same idea.
Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

Tone is hard to convey over the interwebs, so I assure you, I don't mean this in a dick-like fashion but this is an honest question. Have you ever read Wolverine, by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont? Because, if you haven't, you should, but more to the point, they might be aiming it off this. If they do, that's probably a good idea - it's widely considered who? to be the best Wolverine story ever, where he is re-envisioned as a failed samurai of sorts.
Of course, after how badly they fumbled Deadpool, I remain pessimistic.

They have been saying for awhile that it is based on the Miller/Claremont story, which is one reason why I was excited, but then saw the 'we'll take away your mutant powers' focus and became concerned. The book is really just about his relationship and fighting ninjas; part of the excellence of the narrative is in the straightforward simplicity and ferocity.

I know exactly what work they're referencing, and that this movie is based upon that storyline. Doesn't change the fact that this "Wants to or has to get rid of powers/Gets rid of powers/Needs powers back again/Gets powers back again" plot line isn't much of an arc, and is as by the numbers as it can get for super-heroes.

Im not a fan of Hugh Jackman TBH. Ive seen him in interviews and he seems like such a sissyman in real life. So thats the vibe I always get from him. Hes a pretty good actor though outside that. He does do gruff rather well, but I cant help but see something like
Jackman: *snarls* Im gunna kick your ass
Me imagining Jackman wearing a tutu: I like interpretive dance and watching the O network.
You hush your mouth about Hugh Jackman. Did you see when he lost the best actor oscar to Daniel Day-Lewis? The camera was on him when it was announced, and no hesitation, immediately a big smile and started clapping. The man is all class.
Plus, he was raised in Australia. That's like Earth's Catachan - he's gotta be hard just to have survived.

He's won at least one Tony award, and can actually sing (substantially better than that horrific Les Mis). I like his range. I think LIeb's a better snarly guy though, just with his...voice.

Yep. He doesn't play a good guy that well, but a threatening guy...yea he's excellent.

The red X singalling a broken link is a better poster for Wolverine than the one I posted. Therefore, the one's Ahtman posted are SIGNIFICANTLY better.
