Oathsworn Miniatures is launching today with their first Kickstarter project.
The Oathsworn: Heroes of the Dwarfs project will produce a set of five high quality metal Dwarf miniatures - and if we hit our Stretch goals, we will be producing a total of 10 individual character models.
All the miniatures are being sculpted to be suitable for 28mm scale gaming, so will be around 21 to 23mm to the top of their heads.
The miniatures are being sculpted by Michael Lovejoy - a professional sculptor with 13 years experience in the industry, working in a variety of scales and styles.
Our aim is to make top quality Dwarf character figures, which will be perfect for tabletop wargaming, as roleplaying characters, or simply as a miniature piece of art for figure painters and collectors.
We're working our way through the sculpting at the moment; the first figure is finished, and can be seen on our KS page; we'll be posting more over the next few days.

If you're a Dwarf fan, have a look!

I think they look really nice! The question for me is whether or not I need more dwarves in my life at this point; I need to think about that for a few days before backing.
Best of luck with the campaign!

Ive always loved Dwarves...but in 28mm they are just too small for me. Wish someone would do them in 54mm with the same style and detail as is common in 28mm.

Thanks everyone - here's a quick update:
I just wanted to let you all know about a big change we've made here. After listening to your feedback, and talking to our mouldmaker, we've decided we don't need the Stretch goal money - we can go ahead if we just get the £3000 project goal.
So the 5 Stretch Goal Dwarfs are now unlocked - any £32 pledgers will now get all 10 Dwarf character models!
We've also added a couple of other pledge options - a 3 Dwarf pack, and a 5 Dwarf pack. But obviously the £32 pledge for all 10 remains the best value.
Also, the next sculpt is up:

Michael

Congratulations on hitting your goal!
I think Mordrin looks great, the only thing i would possibly change would be to shift some of his weight to his throwing side to make the pose look a little more natural.
@LoveJoy
Have you thought about adding a 'design your own dwarf' pledge level? I have no idea if there would be any takers, but at least the option would be there if anyone is interested.

Wow. Excellent models.
Personally, I'd like to see some without cloaks or other items hiding the backs of their armor.
I'm thinking about supporting this. The only reason I haven't yet is because, frankly, I have NO need for fantasy dwarf models, at all. That's how nice these look, though!

What I really like about campaigns like this is that they have an attainable goal, and are likely to be able to deliver close to on-time.
What I don't like is, similar to the dwarven adventurers campaign, it's hard to know if the models will blend in with other dwarfs, since there's not enough to make a whole force out of. For RPGs, obviously that's not an issue, but for wargaming they need to blend in unless being used as characters.

Fair point, and it's difficult trying to cater to the RPG market and the wargame market - they both want very different things... They should fit in pretty well with GW dwarfs, though - here's a quick size comparison:
There are some add-ons available now - they can be added to pledes for £3 each.

Backed for ten earlier today after it was noted you can swap in and out the new additional sculpts for those in the original ten. Seems my 50-50 gender Dwarf Mordheim warband will soon be a reality.

Some very impressive sculpting there.
If you happened to be looking for an idea for a model. A Dwarf Reckoner would be cool. These being dwarfs who's job is basically to enforce grudges around the world. So mean looking rangers who have loads of scrolls, shackles etc.

They are related, actually! The idea is that they're all that's left of a clan - mostly brothers/sisters/cousins etc...
But to be honest, there's only so many ways to do a female face - with male dwarfs, you can do all sorts of craggy facial features and beard types, but with the girls, you're basically limited to a sort of child-like face... painting should help differentiate them though.
Anyway, just over an hour to go on the Kickstarter now. Just sayin'....

I just received my Grindol Stonehide and I am very happy with him. The sculpt quality is up there with Avatars of War and he fits in with GW's dwarfs just fine, although he is a smidge shorter than their latest dwarfs. My model had a perfect casting and no flash at all (although it was obviously an early cast, so that might explain it).
I expect to pick up a few more of their dwarfs during the holiday season.

Extremely nice sculpts in the flesh, I had a few minor mold lines but nothing that wont take a minute or two to fix.
Im hoping that there will be some stock regiment figures in the future especially if this quality is kept up. Id probably say these were the best dwarf figures ive ever bought!

Agreed... units/regiments are what many people are looking for, as hero sculpts are available from so many high quality sources already. Hopefully, he can figure out a way to do that... clearly, the door remains open to that market while AoW gets their act (very slowly) together.
