I'm making a unique Salamanders Command Squad and I want to convert the heavy weapons marine to be using a heavy flamer - but I don't know what arms I need to get to convert the Heavy Flamer!

As I'll be using a Tactical marine, I presume I'm going to have to adapt one of the sets of Devastator weapon arms to serve the purpose, but as I've never done a set of Devastators I don't know which weapons arms I need to get!

Any Ideas?

Look on E-bay for devastator bits, and there'll probably be one or two listings that have as such. Don't know if Flamers will be available though.

Yeah, I have looked, but what I was asking was which weapon arms to get as the ones for Melta, Boltgun etc. are all different. I was kinda hoping that if someone had already done this type of conversion they'd post a comment - Heh, no such luck there!

There is no model for power armored heavy flamers, though GW's Sternguard upgrade pack has a Finecast heavy flamer in it.

There are a couple ways you can do a heavy flamer. One is taking the terminator heavy flamer and chopping it off below the elbow and putting it on a power armored marine. This results in a look where the weapon is attached to the marine.

The other way is to simply use a multi-melta Devastator and replace the melta nozzles with a heavy flamer tip.

I personally like the latter method because it is easier and has a very massive and imposing appearance befitting a heavy weapon marine, but both ways look cool.

Hmm, thanks for the ideas RayND.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm gonna get the flamer from the Sternguard pack off E-Bay - but as it has no arms I was a bit stuck.

My initial thought was to use a standard set of arms used for bolters and just sliding them into the arm slot on the flamer - however I do like your point with the Terminator arm. My only concern is that because of the designs, the arms won't match, and this may be obvious. But thanks anyway for the brain-food!

The power armoured Grey Knights kit comes with an incinerator.

Top right

You could hunt down the incinerator bits on ebay or a bitz site.

That blue heavy flamer from the terminator is awesome. I personally have done the multi-melta conversion and it is nice and not too difficult.

I've got two in my WIP Sternguard:

Hmm, I'm not sure I'm too keen on the Multi-Melta conversion - but I do appreciate you taking the time to inform me of the possibility so thanks regardless.I may root around to see if I can get my hands on a set of the Grey Knight arms as they seem to be what i'm looking for!

I have Grey Knight arms sat here spare. Incinerator and Psilencer. The Psilencer arm may be even better to mount a Heavy Flamer under. Bitz swap?

I would suggest either locating the bits for Grey Knight Incinerator arms, or get a couple of Terminator Heavy flamer arms and do the conversion. It's not very involved, at all.

Yeah, I'm already getting a load of bitz from an E-bay store with combined packaging costs, so i'll just add in a set of incinerator arms.

@JohnnyHell - Thanks for the offer, but i'm gonna go with incinerator arms instead from E-bay. Cheers anyway!
