Yes what is the very best deals you have found warhammer at or that lucky buy on ebay and what was the worst? where the deal just didn't work out, perhaps you got shipped a box of troops all missing their heads!
I will start it:

Best:
I once walked into a charity shop and in one of the corners i found (nearly having a heart attack!) A box full of sealed new 40k eldar. Naturally i bought the lot, I got two wraithlords, two squads of dire avengers and squad of walkers and there were also some metal dwarf models in there too! all brand new! up to date models all for £40 couldn't believe it, still don't!

Worst:
Sold an entire fleet for battlefleet gothic completely new and sealed on ebay...expected a good sale, they went for under £20

Best
4 ccbs for 80 bucks
2 night scythes for roughly the same

worst
buying a lot of necrons from an auctioner with blurryish photos for about 20% off retail on ebay, only to realize once they got to me that they were severely damaged by plastic glue and thick ass globs of paint.
the hands that were supposed to hold the guns in place were hilariously positioned, some of them raised high above their heads, and others trying to touch their toes (one even had what looked like it used to be an ork head plastic glued onto the handless wrist of the necron)

Best and Worst..Kinda

Bought a ton of already assembled SM off of a coworker, easily 2500 points for about 200$ CAN. Figured hell, ill just repaint them all! Went online that night, looked up repainting models and found that I was gonna have to strip everyone. Already gave guy the money, and have very little 40K or modelling experience.

So I go to get them the next day, gaking bricks. I see the army, and I realize this guy was so lazy he did the marines shins, shoulderguards and mohawk piece in gold, and left everything else just straight primed black. So I got lucky bigtime, probably the fastest I went from scared to ecstatic in an instant. Thank god for people being lazy with models, and this guy was a really good painter too, never got why he didnt do them well.

Best-Bought a gallon bag of random marine bits for $35 (Just for 6 plasma guns), went through the bag and found over two dozen different metal figures, 15 plasma guns, most of a rhino, a metal chaos predator turret. 23 almost complete khorne berzerkers and, after a bit of scavanging through just this bag, enough bits to make 14 bekie sternguard and 50 tac marines. So worth it.

Bought some orks from a random guy at the FLGS for $40.00 for the lot.

Nasty-looking pile of black primer and broken -looking models, crusted in paint and primer, but i had spare cash, and the guy had a good hard luck story. I figured i could at least have fun digging through the crap after i'd left it in the stripper for spare parts to monkey around with for conversions.

After 2 weeks in the brine i remembered that i had stuck something in the vat, and took a look. There were three old Kanz, an old Dread, a wierdboy and several MANZ, as well as a selection of broken metal odds and sods that i could use for conversions. Well worth the 40.00, once i had repaired and re-assembled them. This was also before the new Kanz and Dreads came out, so they were current models at the time.

3 RT Rhinos and 2 old style SoB Immolators for about $120 on eBay. What made this a great deal was the guy refunding me $30 because of eBay's overinflated shipping cost.

Best was before ebay came to be.

I bought a guy's entire rogue trader blood angel army for $25 because his wife demanded he "get rid of those damn models stored in the laundry room" probably close to 50 plastic beakies, 30ish RT era metal marines, 2 chessex carrying cases, some dreadnoughts and robots (about ten I think), and 50 ish metal terminators including the old grey knight models.

Worst deal. Anything I paid full retail for at Hobbytown, but hey it was more than ten years ago, so not so bad aas retail now.

$50 for the Assault on Black Reach box was my best thus far. Though I've only put three of the five terminators, the missile launcher tactical (he's a Long Fang now), and the Ork Boyz and Nobz to use thus far, that's still more than their money's worth separately. Bad part is that some bits were missing, such as the Warboss's head.

What the heck, I got exactly this as well. Just with only two metal figures, and most of the various marines are missing their damn legs. Funnily enough, yes, that does include the metal Chaos Predator Turret

I've bought the 3rd ed starter set on 3 separate occasions, and altogether I've spent $60. It got me started into this game, and the Marine models are essentially the same ones they are today!

Worst I've seen is kind of a recurring thing on eBay where people will sell older models that are still in print (Chenkov in this case) and people will end up bidding well over twice the asking retail price. I have no idea why the bids on that model went up to $40+ but I'm sure someone, somewhere is happy with their purchase of a $15 model.

I bought my 1st army of GKs off Barter Town. The guy was quitting and just wanted out. He sold me 10 GK Terminators, 20 PA GKs, Codex, 30 Bottles of paint, brushes, Auto-Cannon Dread, Razorback, Coteaz, Vindi, and Stern all for $40.00 plus $10.00 shipping.
All the Extra non used bits were there too w/ an aegis defense line minus the gun he had used on the Dread. He even had some random orc and space marine bits in bag - I traded those away for more GKs items I needed.

The worst deal was I bought a box of random marines from a girl b/c I felt bad for her b/c she really needed money. It had over $100.00 of stuff it is just I hardly needed any of it. Had some cool Rogue Trader models in it.

Worst deal? Definitely the eight plastic stormtroopers for £25 that were cleverly photographed to hide all of the mutilations and plastic glue damage they had suffered.

Recently, ebay, there were 2 separate lots by the same seller titles 'Wahammer 40k Sundries' No list in the listing just had to work on the photo

So in lot 1 there were paints... some Fantasy figure and stuff, you could see sprues but no indication if complete, and the side of a DE battleforce
In lot 2, there was a Raider and 3 Jetbikes obviously from the Battleforce.

I bought both lots, came to about £37 Inc P&P. Bit of a gamble, was a little worried....

It came, other and other than the raider and jetbikes the rest of the battleforce was still on sprue.... turns out there was also Extra box of Warriors and Wyches and Scourges, some sort of IG looking bunker, basing stuff, more paints than I realized, different glue types etc. Really awesome.

A friend wanted £20 for his 40k
Every chaos character (inc ones like doomrider), loads of marines, a kos, a 'thirster, vehicles (inc landraider, rhino's), different csm codex's, about 4-5k of chaos and 2k ish of old school nids.

I gave him £40 so he could at least buy something nice (like a ps3 game) with the money.

Best: I bought a "new in box" leman russ kit. Turned out it wasn't new in box, but was just the sprues put into bubble wrap. It also turned out there were TWO complete russ kits in it. I asked, and they said keep it. Not too shabby.

Worst: Well, I haven't had any properly bad experiences, so I'll just say one for generally. People who try to sell stuff on eBay for higher than the asking price from GW's store. Not only is that insane, but they don't offer free shipping either...

Best: 3 RT Librarians and 1 RT power axe marine (and a small metal ork biker, probably from the same era) for free.
Worst: uh, well, since I haven't really bought any used stuff I suppose there's technically no "worst" deal. Worst thing I did to my own models though was removing the tactical arrows from the AoBR marines because I was supposed to make them into Templars. Infiltrating Hawwa'

Through the looking glass

Best is a tie

Found a box of eldar at a FLGS that was marked 50 bucks. Took a peak at the contents, and almost immediately did a paranoid look around to make sure I wasn't going to have to fight anyone for it. 5 oop banshees, 6 oop swooping hawks, 5 oop fire dragons, some misc figures like a warlock and muagan ra, but most importantly it had 10 metal wraithguard in it in practically perfect condition. Yes please.

Next deal was a guy on craigslist getting rid of some vampire counts. All but two of the named characters, 40 skeletons, 20 grave guard, 20 ghouls, two corpse carts, a vargulf, 20 dire wolves, 4 blood knights, 8 black knights, and a couple generic necromancers/vampires. All for 125. Delicious.

Worst deal...hmmm. Well I usually stick to sound business practices so I avoid them fairly well. However, one situation does come to mind that I'll point out. I bought a bunch of nids for like 100 bucks a while ago. The things were thrashed. Plastic glue everywhere, god awful paint jobs, the works. I tried recovering them, which lead to my adamant stance on nids being completely not worth spending time recovering if they aren't metal. Anyways, after spending some time working on them, I got sick of them and tried to get rid of them. Ended up getting a big wad of orks. Problems with that was after I got them I realized most of the boys were from the 2-3rd ed starter set. As a matter of fact, all the orks were oop, which while it wasn't a terrible thing, they were kind of small. Still, I was ready to start my freebooter army up. Only I didn't, and eventually started to lose interest with 40k because of GW and all that mess. Problem was, not many people want the old orks. They sat around in boxes for awhile until I found a guy who wanted all my 3e starter ork boys. Got rid of about 80 or so boys and 120 gretchin for the pathfinder players guide, core rule book, and complete magic and complete fighting, which was awesome. Regrettably, I still had a lot of orks left over. However, I recently found a buyer for them, and got rid of about 2000 points of them for 350$.

Sooooo yeah.
