Hmmm if GW did go after the ironman franchise on this, I would suggest to Tom Kirby that they'll probably want to launch a preemptive price rise in Austrailia to cover any costs arising. 8)

Don't be stupid notprop. GW has never raised its prices (except in line with inflation), at least not in the last 10 years. I mean, they're a company, and companies should make profits, and they're beholden to their shareholders, not us. And if you don't like GW, stop playing 40K. And... umm... something about minimum wage.
Have I covered all the usual beats?

Tax, there's usually something about tax and a bit about how dropbears drive up costs too; but that pretty much sums it up. Nice summary now start paying more than more than you fair share. You know, help Team GW out a bit here for once!
Also how did you find out my first name?

GW will stay quiet, because the next Marvel movie features Thor against Malekith the Dark Elf King, a concept that GW "borrowed" and made good profit with, without asking for permission

I'd be the first to bash GW, but are you sure about that? I thought they appeared at around the same time and this was a case of another "Dennis the Menace" (scroll down the number 3 on the list).
But it honestly would not surprise me if GW "borrowed" it.

Would need to double check to make sure GWs wasnt mentioned sooner, but the Marvel version of Malekith should be at least 10 years older...maybe more.
Regarding the armor specifically...absolutely nothing is what GW will do. Beyond not being in the position to take on a behemoth like Disney, they also would have every bit of their IP stripped from their carcass in the process. Between the back catalog of published works that Disney owned before hand, plus all the properties which came with their purchase of Marvel, LucasFilm and others...there is very little that GW could claim original creation on. Heck, they might go through and buy up the Eternal Champion franchise rights just to prove a point.
No, GW wouldnt think of even looking cross eyed at Disney.
If I remember correctly Malekith first appeared in Thor in 1984, I didn't have copies of first or second edition warhammer to hand, but pretty sure Dark Elves where not fleshed out and their leadership gained names until the first Dark Elf book around 91.
Not 100% on that second point though, I remember the gods being mentioned in detail, and some characters being raised in the 3rd edtion Warhammer book, but can't remember if the Dark Elf leader was mentioned.

Dark Elves were definitely in the original Warhammer Armies book that was out with 3rd edition. So that's what, 1987-88?
They could well have LE been in ravening hordes before then as well. I'm sure I can remember pre-slotta metal based dark elves long prior to that. Where that effects anything I don't know?

I think we are all missing the most important part of this discussion.
Which one would win in a fight?
Fafnir wrote: Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Agreed. Since GWs legal pattern is going after those who lack the funding for a legal fight, the House of Mouse, which no doubt employs its own large legal team, is way to big of a fight for GW.
It would be entertaining to see them throw a C&D at Disney just for the kicks of it....they can always backpedal if needed.
Whats my game?
Warmachine (Cygnar)
10/15mm mecha
Song of Blades & Heroes
Blackwater Gulch
X wing
Open to other games too
On the plus side at some point in the next ten years we could all go to GrimDarkLand or EuroGrimDarkLand and go rides such as Into the Eye of Terror, Space marine Mountain and Its a Small World (and in it there is only war!), then wash it down with an Orkicola.
Wow, a Disney I can get on board with!

Well, seeing as Disney cannot even defeat Principal Skinner; I don't think GW will have much of a problem.

Let's not forget Dark Eldar Pirates of the Caribbean, Dumbo the Flying Monstrous Creature and the Astral Claws Orbiter.

Whilst rack my brains over this it popped in my head that the GW Assassin model is in a pose & outfit that seems to be inspired by a Joe Pineapples (2000AD - ABC Warriors) picture / front cover
