There are several descriptions of the Webway in Ian Watson's Inquisitor trilogy - an old source but still the best 40k novels written to date.

I just have this vision in my head of one of those "theme rollercoasters" complete with a giant Eldar head with the track going through the mouth.

In the HH art books there are many pictures of the war in the webway below the imperial palace.
It basically looks like a giant psychedelic tube.
