Truck carrying Scotch overturns, ignites in NJ

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. (AP) — No one was seriously hurt when a tanker truck carrying 6,000 gallons of Scotch whisky overturned and caught fire in New Jersey.

Fire Chief Dan Gregan tells The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick (http://mycj.co/ZsPzpe ) the truck was making a turn when it clipped a telephone pole in Woodbridge, hit a parked car and ignited on Tuesday.

The chief wasn't sure whether the truck's fuel or the Scotch ignited.

The driver, who works for a hauling company in Newark, was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

I got really freaked out for a minute when I saw "scotch" and "New Jersey" since I'm from Scotch Plains, NJ. Thought something happened to my hometown!

That was a different incident involving scotch, in the UK I believe. I can't remember what happened, exactly, but the "what a horrible crime" attitude was just as present.

I'm not a fan of Scotch either, so no offense here. I'm deeply fascinated by how it's made, though, along with most other liquors.

I'm not really interested in home brewing per se, like for beer? But the other stuff sounds just incredible to make, along with some wines.

I can't say i'm much of a Scotch man either. I'll drink it if it's given to me but if there is something else on offer then i'll always go with that instead.

Found the other article about a Scotch related mishap. And it was almost 3 months ago to the day.
