My son's entry to the Marin County Fair, 2013 Junior Competitive Exhibit.

It's a Tau Firewarrior fighting off a Chaos Marine. We used o-rings and Vallejo paste to create a scenic base where both figures can be pulled out for gaming.

All work is his.

Looks good. I don't usually feel sympathy for fishy-heads, but that poor tau makes me cringe. Not a good place to be in.

Very nice. The odds seem stacked in the Chaos Marines favor, however...

When it comes to close combat, aren't the odds always stacked against the Tau?

Actually, now that there's overwatch, he's got a chance at a lucky shot.

I guarantee you that I'm not really as smart as the test says:

Thank you all for the comments. My son is 10 and appreciates the feedback. This was also our first experiment with Vallejo paste, which was interesting. In hindsight, we should have built up the base more and then use the paste as filler around it, but overall, I liked the product. I'll have to experiment a bit more with it to see if I want to start using it as a replacement for the glue/sand technique, but I think it's really more of a supplement.

That looks excellent, the Tau has no chance lol

I use Vallejo paste on all my bases, it makes life so much easier.

What do you use to apply the paste to your bases?

If the Chaos guy has three markerlights on him, the Fire Warrior's overwatch will be at BS4, sorted.

In all seriousness, I'm loving that, the base as well! Great skills for one so young. I feel like I should quote Yoda at this point, but I shall refrain.
