Am I and others expected to know the name of an elite choice, for an under represented army, in an imperial armour book?

I am not trolling, I simply asked if you could post what it is/has if its obscure or in a forgeworld book.

Or are you too proud to take a little advice.

woah, you mad bro? I never heard of a firekife, is that what it says in the codex entry?

Land Raider Reedemer is what it says on the box.

IA III the taros campaign.

Also, I can guarantee you have never played against Tau ever if you don't know what fireknife is. If you have played against tau, you're either trolling or have alzheimers.

I can't find the XV9s in IA3, so I can't give a correct counter to the unit....

As for your thing about the fireknifes, calm down man. No one is gonna know what I fireknife is unless they read the Tau codex, someone i play against regularly has played tau, and another I play against and talk with on a fairly regular basis plays tau, and they both use that suit combination, and they've never refered to them as "fireknifes". Point is, don't you codex specific nicknames for units. Most people will know them by their codex entry names. Such as the Redeemer and Crusader. These are Land Raider varients that specificly have their pattern names in codex entries.

Redeemer and Crusader are also codex-specific nicknames for a variant of a unit. They hae their own entries so that GW can make more money. Redeemer tells me nothing about the weapon loadout, FLGS players just tell me what weapons they have.

If anyone had bothered to actually look before simply asking, they would have found it.

Thanks for telling me what they are, but the Redeemer and Crusader are not codex spefic nicknames, just like the Demolisher isn't a codex specific nickname for a Russ. Its a varient of the base tank with its own codex entry. It cannot be made using upgrades on the base model, like the suits can. They come pre-built with little to no variation in their weapon loadout. You be more accurate in saying that a Predator Destructor or Predator Annihilator is a codex nickname, as they're both predators with a designation decided upon the loadout chosen by the player. In the end, they're the same exact tank, you just paid more points to swap out guns.

Land Raiders can't swap out guns. Calling a Redeemer a Redeemer tells you all you need to know. It has a pair of S6 AP3 flamers as sponsons, and it has an Assault Cannon in the hull. You can't change that, ever. A Demolisher is a Leman Russ, and again, tells you exatly what the tank is and its main gun. A demolisher carries (surprise) a demolisher cannon, and has a higher rear armor than a LRMBT. If they have their own sepperate entry in the codex army list, most people will recognize it by its name. The firknife doesn't have that luxury. Its an XV8 Suit witha load out that can be changed. If the Fireknife had its own entry in the tau army list, then people would regocnize it. However....it doesn't.

Not to sound like a jerk, but are you picking up what I'm puttin down?

Redeemer and crusader land raider variants are not nicknames. They are actual unit entries not wargear upgrades. You should know what they are without your opponent explaining to you what they have.
Sh!t like the "derpknife" and "durrsun" variants are NOT legal codex entries and ARE worthless nicknames. Stick to the codex names. It's like someone going "Yeah this is my Emperor's Raiders SWAT squad. What? No, that's totally their legit name. Oh you mean what it ACTUALLY is? A tactical squad."

I gotta be honest....Im not sure that group could beat Belial and his squad. Ork Rokkits are AP3, right? That would mean even if you hit, I have my 2+ armor, and even if you charge, the company banner gives my guys +1A, so I end up with 13 LCs before your Nobz and Gahzy attack, and 9 TH attacks simul with them. In my case, the LCs would swing at the MANz just to deny them their attacks, and I'd leav the THs for Gahzkul.

I'd need to test roll it, but i honestly think Gahzkull and his boyz would lose that fight.

Edit: I just test rolled that fight, I don't know if you'd direct Gahzy's attacks at Belial or his squad, but without Gahzy's rolls I ended the rolling with all 4 MANz dead and a wound on Gahzkull, and none of my boys dead.

Edit 2: assumed Gahzy rolling against squads, to try to cause more fearless wounds on Belial and kill more troops. Either my dice hate orks or the dice gods favored my boys, because Gahzy didn't cause a single wound either.

End result of test rolls: Gahzy lost combat by 6. Leadership check on LD 3: Gahzkull fails and runs.
