This applies to all MEQ armies, how do you run your psyker HQ's?

For SM I always take him naked and just keep him in the back to prescience a group of plasma devastator's. If I have a few points left over I'll slap a stormbolter on him and let him fire at anything in range just to utilize the model.

Keeps your HQ safe, synergizes with a DEVASTATING unit. Great use of a 100 point HQ.

For BA I generally do the same OR:

Take advantage of being able to cast 2 abilities, Blood Lance and Shield of Sanguinius

Blood Lance rarely get's played around by opponents, especially for the first couple casts.

Shield is great too, 5+ cover to anything within 6" and the great part is you can cast both, you are asked to cast shield on your opponents shooting phase.

So I'll stick him with a group of Assault Marines in a Rhino and give him a battle loadout including a stormbolter

What do you do with yours?

hey what time is it?

Bare bones, 100 points C:SM librarian, bolt pistol/force staff, GoI and Null Zone. Stick him with a squad of sternguard, and blip around rapid firing special ammo into things.

Since I play BA and their HQ choices are bland I take a librarian with terminator armor and a force axe.

For DA I just put a PFG on him and stick him with some devs for prescience.

If with RW, throw him on a bike with a PFG and lvl2. Divination has some awesome powers for RW since prescience isn't necessary. Oh you want to roast my command squad with a turkey?Forewarning. Your blob behind an ADL? Misfortune/Perfect Timing.

While semi-situational, the powers have always proved to be useful to an extent that makes the lib worth taking every time.

I think this is such a good attitude to have when your libby ISN'T a commander though, he's such a great force buffer in this sense and a low points cost.

When he's your warlord and your playing to win I think this might be a mistake.

Yay for Librarian love

I'm BA I can't worry about things like my warlord because all my warlord choices suck. I have overcosted models and so I need everything contributing to the fight. If he dies, he dies.

Bolt pistol and power fist, fiery form and forwarning ina a squad of DA vets. If I did BA then I would take Mephiston despite his lack of invulnerable save.

Mephiston = no force multiplier, no invuln save, AP3, and only two powers if you switch out his powers. No thank you. He's plasma bait anyway.

If I had one, I would run him in Terminator Armour.

Otherwise, I just run him plain.

Terminators are slow. I'm not sure what I'd do with a terminator libby. They can't keep up with the attack bikes to cast spells on them

It's the only way of giving him a natural invulnerable save a 2+ armour.

Otherwise, he's my go-to cheap HQ when I just need to fill the slot.

I guess I'm just cruel to my units because I'd rather have him where I need him when I need him than bother protecting him. He *does* get 2+ LOTS. That's pretty good. Now if only by bullet catchers weren't so damn expensive.........

I run mine with one of the most expensive loadouts available to Codex Marines:
- lvl 2
- Termi armor
- Stormshield
- Sword most of the time, sometimes staff

And I do not even get Divination...

But as the best things in Telepathy comes with a charge cost of 2 and as the Storm Shield saved his life so many times I do not intend to change his loadout and he always served me well so far.

For my Deathwing Librarian I'm still experimenting with the loadout. The first few times I've run him pretty comparable to my vanilla libby with warpfieldgenerator but the warpgen seemed more of a nuisance so far.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

I've had mixed success with a terminator librarian with a force axe attached to a terminator squad. With tactical terminators, he deeps strikes down with them, and either uses some of the shooting powers, or the same GoI/Null tricks to get them where they need to be after the initial drop and ensure stuff dies.

Heading up assault terminators in a LR utilizing some of the CC psychic powers also works, but I prefer chaplains for this role.

If you are running him as your warlord, the extra safety of TDA helps keep the otherwise squishy librarian alive.

Wow. I would never give my libby so much gear. Maybe its a mistake, but I feel that I need to cut as many corners as possible to increase model count.

At this point, not being tabled is a victory against Tau, Space Wolves and Eldar. I don't have the luxury of worrying about how many VPs I'm giving up.

I've had good luck with the the following loadout

Lv2, TDA, Force Stave, GOI and VOD

I port him around with a 5 man Squad of TH/SS Termies in my gunline army

I find that this squad is great at drawing a ton of fire while remaining survivable, and can pile in and vital targets when necessary.

Its a bit of a gamble, but I've had good luck with him so far, and after running him 4 times in this load-out he has yet to die, though the same can not be said of his escorts :(

These games were at the end of 5th though, so no idea if it would still work as well in 6th

I play DA and i always keep one with plasma devs. Lvl 2, two rolls on div, i love prescience, the one that allows you to ignore cover (epic with plasma cannons) or even getting the invuln. PFG is a nice addon if you have a lot of heldrakes in the meta and don't get the 4++.

Just to be horrible, you could put Lysander in there to re-roll any 1's from vengeance ammo...

At the moment I keep my Librarian basic. Bolt pistol, sword, Null Zone and Gate or Smite. I have found that he is very effective when I bunker him and use Null Zone to force enemy inv re-rolls with quite a large radius, especially if you bunker him in a Fortress of Redemption like structure.

I have had no need for a terminator librarian. I normally use my terminator chaplain attached to a TH/SS LC/LC squad in a LR. Re-roll to hit and LC re-roll to wound. It always seems to be slightly overkill but much fun

Vanilla - TDA, Stormshield, force stave. GoI and Nullzone.
As someone posted above, porting a unit of Sternguard around the board rapid firing is a LOT of fun.

CSM - Level 3, power armor, sigil of corruption, force sword, VotLW. I generally take the primaris from telepathy (psychic shriek) and make two rolls on biomancy. In my current list this is the warlord.

Vanilla SM: Level 1, Bolt Pistol + Force Sword, Null Zone + The Avenger. (The Avenger because I don't run Sternguard, and because roasting 5 - 6 enemy models who get close with a S5 AP3 flamer is fun.) When we lose the Psychic Powers in our book and get shifted over to 6th Edition rules, if I run one, it'll still be level 1 and piddle around being a cheap HQ.

DA: Force Sword, Bolt Pistol, Level 2 Divination. There's no reason to give him much else, since his job is to hang out and bless Prescience on your big guns.
