Believe me, we have a lot of back and forth between ourselves and the sculptors, and if we didn't believe it was right, we would have had it changed. It's not as if Seb just sent him to us without having any discussion about it. There is a large element of QC to each miniature we make.

I can't help what you believe, but I know Eirik's pose is perfectly feasible. <shrug> Not a lot more I can say, because I sense you won't be swayed on that, just like I won't be swayed. Let's just agree to disagree.

Interesting - I've just tested the pose, and while it was uncomfortable, it seemed to be doable.

I'd need to have the model in front of me to make sure I was correctly posed, mind you, but it seemed feasible.

The static pose in itself is doable, but it is impossible to hit someone with the axe without getting one hand off the axe.

I won't dispute that, Kroot, as I haven't tested it - not least because I don't have a large axe at my disposal, just a tube of roughly the right size to test the static pose.

Ah, I see: It's about which way the lower right arm is twisted: If it is twisted to the right, the wrist is discocated in the static pose, if it is twisted to the left, it is possible to hold but dislocated in the dynamic pose of swinging the axe. Neither way it is helpful to get force behind the swing of the axe. But it is possible to ignore this for artistic reasons.

A two page discussion over the position of his arm? Come on folks - let's go back to discussing the not-tiger's nose. That was so much more worthwhile...

the problem is not even so much in the wrist; it can be done (though not quite comfortably).
however, it is just silly to have the axe head anywhere behind you when beginning a strike. an axe strike starts above your head, not behind it!
now if it were a defensive pose, maybe, but there's a problem with that too: an axe anywhere near that big is not going to be light enough to get down to such an awkward position for defense anywhere near fast enough (believe me, getting a sword pointed down, along your side, somewhat behind you, is not quite something easily done quickly and that's a much, much more agile weapon!).

shame, really. still, I sort of still like the model. there's a lot of good stuff going on there too

My only disappointment on the Sabre-felid is it's lack of anatomical correctness as compared to so many other of your male models.

Any bets on when his rules come out, he will have a special one called 'Double Jointed'?

You've never heard that phrase? Usually a comeback to someone when claiming that they did something (or someone(!)) awesome. I thought it would be humorous in this context, with people (including me) saying NOOO and you saying YESSS. Also, it would work to shut people up. (once again, including me).

I suspect the "Are you sure" was more in reference to wanting to see pictures of the Maelstrom staff. I've been there and met most of them - it won't be pretty viewing

Krull is amazing. From the pics, I think he is completely superior to the FW Bloodthirster. I really would like to get one.

Indeed, I love Krull. Especially the head, that's what a demon is supposed to look like, a sinister mother-fether that's going to rip your skin off. Not like the GW version of a "demon" which is grinning stupidly at you like a child would after farting loudly in public.

For me the best of the best is still the croc with tentacles that Allan Carrasco sculpted... Brilliant stuff.

GW's GDs desperately need an update. But with Maelstrom making stuff like this, may attitude about GW making a new Bloodthirster is increasingly "why bother?" I hope Krull gets a "little brother" sometime soon.

I do have to wonder though, how would this compare to say a 1/16 greek hoplite model? There are a few out there that are relatively inexpensive

I thought the same thing. There's nothing about it that really hints at the scale, so all you'd need to do is fill in some detail on the head.
