Terminator? Wasn't he fighting a company champion in artificer armor instead?
That's what I though but everyone else seems to think not

Xarl really did get the best send off, he went out like a boss, headbutting a terminator until he got that opening he needed. Not to mention Xarl is doing that other thing he does so well at the same time: Taunting. When I first opened the book and read the opening blurb on the first page to give you a taste of what to expect.. "I'd forgotten how much you heroes liked the sound of your own voices," casually kicking a chainaxe up into his other hand, having slaughtered himself a path through seven Imperial Astartes to get there. "Let's get it done" indeed!

Spoiler:
AD-B takes the time to point out that his armour has a Crux Terminus and seeing as they all charged at once means he's a biiiiiiiig mofo.

Yeah, I just took another look at the passage and there is no reference to termie armor at all, simply that he has ornately decorated "power armor". Having a Crux on your power armor would be expected for a company champion. Either way, minor point in a nice chapter.

Yes although company veterans can wear the Crux Terminatus even when out of the armour right? I have to be honest I imagined him as something similar to the guy above. Although, not that it matters in any case!
Anyway I would say the Night Lord books are by far the best Trilogy released by Black Library. I hope BL don't push him too far and break him
Agreed, for me the Night Lords trilogy has dethroned Eisenhorn. Though the trilogy still holds a shared place with the first Ravenor novel as one of the best BL reads yet.

But there's only 2 books and the audio-drama for the Night Lords so far, right? Am I missing one?
I found the second Eisenhorn book to be less than stellar and stopped half-way through the third. It's kind of like eating pizza, I guess. At first, "Hey, this stuff is great!" Then the "this is ok, I guess" phase hits. Then, you just don't want anymore f-ing pizza. Not true with the Night Lords books, though.

"Bloodspire and Deathwolf" by Messrs. CZ Dunn, Andy Smillie. Audio book I believe.
"The Greater Good" by Sandy Mitchell Cain versus The Tau one would assume ?
" The Death of Antagonis" by David Annandale. Space Marine Battles book.... don't recognise either name.
"Path of the Incubus" by Andy Chambers. Hell and yes.
"The Sigilite" by Chris Wraight. A HH audio book.
"Burden of Duty and Grey Angel" by James Swallow. More HH .... more Garro audion tales one assumes ?
Some cool stuff there for sure.

When is Mitchell going to write another Dark Heresy novel damn it? Or something else that isn't Cain, who by now is a format written drinking game character with zero change in between stories.

On Void Stalker. I am really digging the Raptors of the Bleeding Eyes a whole lot.
Dont read this if you havent read void stalker:
Spoiler:
When first claw was looking for members of Genises and the stumble upon the raptors feasting on the members of Genises astartes hanging from the cieling. So cool. I picture them as flying deamon dog beasts. Obviously still somewhat human. Just such a cool squad. I hope to see alot more of them.
The audio drama with the Raptor on the cover, i think part of the NL series. Is that any good?? would love to hear more about Raptors grippen and rippen.

I was going to wait until I had read Gildar Rift and The Primarchs, but I can't any more...
So far, of the 2 Primarchs story's I've read so far:
- Fulgrim - 'meh', didn't change a whole lot for me tbh, I can understand the complaints, but I don't think it would really change things overall.
- Ferrus - skipped a lot of this; didn't really provide anything to make me engage with or like Ferrus and again, hasn't really changed things.

fair tides,
You mean 'Throne of Lies'? Yes, it's a Night Lords story, but the Bleeding Eyes don't even appear once. Never even mentioned. I thought it was an interesting wee story, and it contributes to the characterisation and motivations of the Legion as a whole, but don't expect too much from it. I wouldn't actually have bought it if it didn't have Beth Chalmers in it/

Ok so I know it's not out until next month, but copies of Valkia the Bloody have started to appear in the wild since the Warhammer Doubles at the weekend. Managed to blag my copy earlier and just finished reading it this morning.
Don't normally get round to reading Warhammer novels, but had to make an exception for this one after reading the Valkia shorts. Overall, massively enjoyed it, great read. Plenty of violence, suitably grim feel to the whole thing, but with flashes of compassion. Was cool to see how Valkia came to be, from her beginnings as a woman in the tribe, through to ascendeding to daemonhood. Well worth picking up when it's out.

Just finished The Primarchs; thought it was quite good overall, but not spectacularly good or bad.
Reflection Crack'd/Fulgrim - Thought it was a bit 'meh', didn't really change anything for me.
Feat of Iron - Thought it was pretty weak tbh - though I don't seem to like Kyme's works/writing style in general - but didn't add any character to Ferrus or really change anything IMHO.
The Lion - Thought it was pretty good. Gav did a good job IMHO and it was pretty interesting.
The Serpent Beneath - As a story, I really enjoyed it, I've like Sanders' HH short stories and this is no different, well written, interesting and hard to put down. Not sure if this really changes anything or not though.
As for parts that should be spoilered, rather than just my opinion:
Spoiler:
- I don't think the Fulgrim story really changed much IMHO; him being a Daemon or not doesn't really change his character much, though I do prefer the more... 'tragic' idea that he is/was possessed by a Daemon, and the idea of him kicking it out, no problem, does seem a bit cheesy. However, considering he becomes a Daemon Primarch anyway - and it probably won't change his behaviour too much - does it really change anything? It doesn't seem to, to me...
- I do hope to find out what the Angel Exterminatus thing is though.
- I thought the Lion was good; I like the Lion's portrayal in recent HH novels/short stories and I'm definitely beginning to like him. Definitely interested in this new portrayal of Guilliman too.
- I enjoyed the Alpha Legion story, but I'm not sure what it changed and I didn't really 'get' the significance of the story and the bit about Omegon at the end.

‘There seems little point in introductions,’ Omegon said. ‘We all know who we are.’
Auguramus seemed vaguely amused. ‘I thought you all called yourselves “Alpharius”,’ he said, his microvox held to his throat.
‘Times change,’ Omegon replied coldly. No one made any further comment.
Strikes me, along with the actions in the tale, that there is a split in the Legion ( or at least between "The twins" with regards to what is the correct way forwards.
.. Omegon's action ultimately t'would seem freeing up the White Scars so they can get to Terra and therefore fight in the siege.
I'm still unsure as to exactly what the suit of armour means, especially the very specific reference to it being
To the casual eye, it was plain and unadorned.
.. to the casual eye...? The inference being therefore that to a non casual eye... say an Astartes or a Primarch there might be clues or indicators there ?

I just finished Legion of the Damned and frankly was quite disappointed. The first third of the novel read like some weird torture Marine porn (not surprising once I realized that it was the same author as Redemption Corps) and, more importantly, ... *minor spoiler*
Spoiler:
the namesake of the book, the Legion of the Damned, don't show up in any meaningful way till the last 30 pages of the 400pg book. It frankly felt like the title should have been "The moody band of Excruciator Marines with a special guest appearance by the Legion of the Damned". The parts where the legion is actually present is enjoyable as is the "twist" at the end regarding the planet's populace but the first 370 pages felt like you were self flagellating along with the characters.

The Black Library have generously given us a bumper pack of their latest releases to give away.
You can win a copy of the Horus Heresy novel The Primarchs, the latest Ulrika The Vampire book Bloodsworn, the fantastic Grey Knights book The Emperor’s Gift (which we loved!), and Horus Heresy audio play Butcher’s Nails.
As part of the same prize, we’re also giving away the audio play The Eye of Vengeance and Ultramarines; The Second Omnibus, both signed by author Graham McNeil.
All you have to do for the chance of winning this bumper pack of books, is answer this question:
What was the name of the Primarch of the Ultramarines?
Winners will be announced live on the May 27th episode of the Starburst Radio show, and notified by email shortly after. Listen live from 9pm - 12 on Manchester Radio Online, or catch it on podcast, available through iTunes HERE.
That's a cracking first prize indeed.
Good luck !
