A 28mm skirmish version of DZC, complete with walkers, would be awesome....

I hope that PHR get battle armor in a soon-ish expansion. Always been fond of the BattleTech Clan-ish idea of 'Mechs carrying their own, organic battle armored infantry support. As a means of using the 'Mechs to support the infantry. Or something. Kinda like Soviet tankodesantniki. Only high tech and futuristic. Mechodesantniki?

Because they don't feature details that a human can't see without bionic eyes..?

I'm going to second the probably Ghost in the Shell inspiration, as well as probably some inspiration from Borderlands's Siren class, a female with pistols, etc... in a black (possibly leather) getup.

So we'll see.

Wait, we'll see what? Are you suggesting that Ghost in the Shell or Borderlands are hard sci-fi?

The Sirens are the first unit that have been conceptually paltry, beyond all 10mm-excusable leniency.

Someone's going to come in screaming BUT WE HAVEN'T EVEN READ THEIR FLUFF YET and, while that remains true, it would have to be some next-level, no-earthly-precedent quality fluff to sensibly justify why a unit is single-sex and uses akimbo pistols.

I'm having a hard time seeing why they're post-human, frankly, unless in this case we're looking at surgical "enhancements".

So it's weightless then, yeah?

Actually, I was concerned that the lightning might be resin too, in which case it'd certainly sag in the summer.

Sounds reasonable. Does anyone know for sure what the lightning stand is made of?

Oh well, 19 pages before random criticism starts must be a new record for dakkadakka I suppose...

Point 1: without caps lock or italics, we haven't read the fluff yet Deciding whether or not a unit 'fits' background that you have no knowledge of is a bit bizarre.

Point 2: these are great 10mm sculpts. People claiming they're not have probably not seen that many. Do they look a bit odd in these pictures? Yes, because they have been magnified. At 'real size' they will look stunning. Do some of the proportions look a bit off? Yes, in the same way that the proportions of even the most realistically sculpted 28mm minis are off if you could scale them up to full size. Miniatures need exagerated features to make them look right on the table and the smaller the model the greater the exageration required (you do the same thing with paint BTW. Smaller models require much harsher contrasts to look 'right' when viewed from a normal distance).

Point 3: get a ruler and look at the 10mm mark. Try and get a realistic idea of just how small these models are and how much detail is on them. I think you'll be far more impressed with these models 'in the flesh' than you will be with any picture you care to look at.

I don't know how much of this is born of frustration with not having seen rules and/or prices (hey, I want to know too ) but lets see the stuff first in real life, read the rules and fluff, handle the models and then give an objective assessment.

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Because these are models I don't want to own. Being tiny doesn't change that.

I think they're fine. Most of a game you probably wont even see them as they'll be hiding in builds anyway.

The vehicles are the bit im interested in.

I'd be interested to see what other 10mm miniatures people can show in comparision for detail.

I agree with both comments.

These infantry minis at 10mm look better than a lot of the stuff that comes from BF for FoW at 15mm.

That said, the Sirens are the least appealing of all the infantry I've seen so far. The wait to see what the army deals are is killing me!

Thanks for the extra pic, DT!

I thought these were actually cyborgs... "post-human", right? I.e., in the shape of females since they could really be any shape, since that might throw off the human resistance for a crucial moment?

Anyway, we'll see when the background ("fluff") hits . For now I'm tired of talking about them, let's get back to the vehicles and every other sculpt that are pretty much dead-on!

Hypothetical Siren fluff-

Post-humans reproduce only for utilitarian reasons, but are aware of the effect female charms can have on most humans. Therefore, their elite operatives are selected for their aesthetic qualities and durability to cause that instant's hesitation in humanoid combatants. The easily concealable weaponry of the pistol assists this deception, and facilitates attempts to subvert humanoid forces. Sadly, at this time the Post human forces do not know what cause Shaltari or Swarm to hesitate, and thus cannot deploy custom tailored Sirens for infiltration duties. Mixed species squads have consistently proven ineffective in testing.

I'm really looking forward to this game, and find the Greek naming style of the Post humans irresistible- even if the Sirens do appeal to a more classical definition of beauty.

I'm not suggesting that any of this is based in any level of scientific fact (as per hard sci-fi), I'm merely suggesting that we're given a picture with no rules or fluff justification and we're simply going off of what we know from Hawk Wargames and our own experiences. You show me a picture of 3 women and call them Sirens, my first thoughts are going to be Greek mythology related, which might explain the reasoning behind 3 sirens on a single base (as Greek mythology had on average 3 sirens depending on what you read), possibly some Dungeons and Dragons, and then when I see that the three women are dressed in a very scaled down, albeit darker clothed version of this:

Spoiler:

Then I can see the Borderlands inspiration.

And who immediately doesn't think women that are able to kill a man easily when they hear the word siren and see a female model?

And fine, I'll scream it "BUT WE HAVEN'T READ THEIR FLUFF YET!" - There are enough allusions behind the 3 model unit and the name siren to justify the models for right now. There is probably a PHR fluff reason behind them, and we'll just have to wait and see. And you can't say they're pandering to male gamers, even with those large tracts of land those girls are sporting, at that scale you've got to be able to do something to show they're women.

Admittedly, I don't know how close to combat that transport helicopter is intended to go.

However, they're very weird to stand near. I saw one at a museum once and they look like some sort of engineering prototype or model, not a real helicopter. There's also a neat bubble-window for the loadmaster at the back of the cockpit so they can monitor the cargo in-flight.
