Why do I feel that the Shaltari Tribes will be overpowered, in game? They seem to have vehicles with the best weapons and infantry with the best armor, coupled with the ability to use their light gates... wowza!

But we haven't heard a single thing really about what their weaponry and infantry guns do. And who's to say that their light gates don't essentially work in the same fashion as the other faction's dropships.
To be perfectly honest, I'm starting to lose interest in this game. Fancy models are fine and all, but we've heard piss all about the rules, and that'll make/break the game for me, at least.

I was going off of these quotes, and sheer looks and some speculation between the two.
Ocelot Warstrider - Armed with the awesome particle cannon! The most powerful line of sight weapon in the game (so far...)
Braves - 3 per base, since they fight in armoured warsuits!
Shaltari Firstborns - Formidable opponents in CQB!
They seem to be more of an all-'rounder army than the others, but I agree that we will need to see rules soon. Pre-orders are only in another week or so anyway, right? Undoubtedly, we should see rules then.
Oh, internets . People are "losing interest" when we just found out the game existed 2 months ago, and will find out all about the rules / battle reports / etc next week. Sheesh!

Looks to me like the Shaltari will be an expensive (in points), elite army with most units held off-board and deployed via light gates, with the size of the gate determining what units can be deployed), so while they may have "The most powerful LoS weapon in the game" and Elite infantry, they're going to have a hard time concentrating those units where they're needed. They'll need to protect their gates because losing one means cutting off their forces from part of the board.
That's the impression I get from the models & statements so far - which is a shame, because that's a playstyle I'd really enjoy, but the Scourge models are the ones I want more

Enthusiasm and excitement has been pretty consistently high for two solid months now (which is quite an achievement), fatigue is setting in - especially now that we've seen the models, and have almost no rules information to go on.

So, shall we talk alternate paint schemes?
I've decided on the UCM and have been throwing around potential patterns for a while now.
I was thinking of either doing a winter theme with everything being in white with off-white/blue round shaped "shadowed in grey.
OR
Tigerstripe, dark olive green with black stripes outlined in tan
OR
a desert camo with vehicles being painted in "Chocolate Chip" desert tan, with smallish brown lines and clusters of black dots.
Druidic wrote:Thing is, you could just differentiate them with the paint job
Of course, but that does seem to be the only way. I'm not asking for much; a slightly different helmet, shoulder pads, some small aesthetic other than "different weapons". The PHR and Scourge infantry types are so wildly different I don't think I'm asking for a lot.
Ohhh; alternative paint schemes! I'm thinking about doing the Shaltari royal purple and bone. Would love to hear some other suggestions though.

Fair point, Charax! I definitely don't mind people posting honestly their opinions of models / timeline, etc. I just think it's silly that someone could lose interest in a game we had no idea existed just over 2 months ago!
Lots of games put out teasers much further out (a year or more). I think people are frustrated here because everything seemed to be (and pretty much is, apparently) DONE and ready to go, but we couldn't quite get it yet. But still... one more week, it's not that much for him to ask to get his website in order

I agree with Charax. Actually, I'd go further. These worms go in the small "do not like" pile. They're a great concept that, IMO, got rendered poorly. Dave's design strengths clearly trend more toward tech than organic. If this game takes off, I hope he will consider bringing someone in to redo the infantry and those worms.
Can we stop assuming people who don't like something are just too stupid to understand things like scale?
Yes, they're tiny, yes, the detail is great, but sometimes it's not that which people don't like - with the Razorworms I'm getting a massive 80s B-movie vibe off them (They look like Critter-worms!), they don't look like they have teeth, and the painting of the "razors" on the underside is a little imprecise and blotchy
that doesn't mean I don't understand that 10mm is small, but they are valid reasons for needing to see the base model before deciding if the models are any good
On non-worm infantry stands: Biggest differences between them (IMHO) is paint job you do and number of models on base (5 for regular, 3 for elite). Otherwise they look pretty much same on the table.
I'll personally going to get Scourge and/or Post-humans based on their vehicle designs. I really don't see/care about infantry designs enough to base that decision on them.

One cool preview after another.
I really hope you consider doing 'two person' buy in army deals--as I could see a lot of players talking their gaming group into playing by having a ready made game on hand. Similar to PP's two person battle box.

Zeus? Seems likely to be a command walker. Name plus the heavier deopship interface ring. I suspect the 'shield' is for bringing thunder and lightning (orbital strikes). Which is kinda cool. Maybe if you take a Zeus and replace the railgun with one of the main guns from an Enyo, you get a Thor?
I'm hoping that if they do a specific HQ vehicle that you can customize it. In fact, a general ability to customize the walkers would be nice. But that's the BattleTech player in me talking.
