I would really like to see if there is any room to customize or upgrade units via the rules. It probably isn't going to happen, but it's wishful thinking.

It is because at least one unit he mentioned had multiple weapon variants.

I like the orbital strike stuff. Hopefully it is reasonably well done (i.e. your own guys can't be at all close unless you're crazy). I like the razor worms too - especially if they can ride in the heavy tank.

I really hope you consider doing 'two person' buy in army deals--as I could see a lot of players talking their gaming group into playing by having a ready made game on hand. Similar to PP's two person battle box.

This is a really great idea!

Man, if I had any hair left on my head I'd be pulling out the last few of them right now. I'm ready to give Dave a lot of moneys. A friend of my mentioned that a huge rules explanation will come on Wednesday though, and the preorder opens up on friday. First order will be rulebook...then we'll see if the rules are good enough to warrant splashing out more funds on the minis. But I certainly hope so!

The site will go live on friday/8 and i would bet we get al the information we need on that day, hopefully i nice battle report or something like that to get a better picture of what its al about and howe it "feels".

So all we have to do is wait a few more days and hope the site wont shut down because of overload.

Oh God, I just realized that the site will be sluggish with traffic for the first full day(s). Waaahhh! I don't want to wait!

Don't worry, all the juicy bits will be out on the forums with the first few hours, overloaded or not. besides, I wouldn't be surprised if capacity is what took that extra week
really, in this day and age you're an idiot if you don't host something like this with a virtual provider - getting some more capacity there is no hassle and really, no way that a new wargame, any wargame, is going to generate the kind of traffic that would make any half decent modern hosting provider even blink.

Zeus is up on Hawk's FB. Looks like the shield-looking thing is, in fact, a shield. Depending on how, exactly, the rules work, I may take the improved comms (the embiggened dropship collar, I'm betting) of the Zeus and configure it with an Odin's weapon systems.

These command vehicles make me wonder of the game is going to include an electronic warfare element like Stargrunt. That would be almost like the technological equivalent of a magic phase, with off-table artillery, special forces, booby traps and such.

I'm hoping so. The scale of the game would allow for a battlefield planning mechanism to make sense. Having a command and control unit that gives bonus' to tactical maneuvering on field would be a nice change of pace from how they're normally handled in model games.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

I love the Post-human stuff, but I can't look at those Zeuses and not be reminded of Gungan energy shields from Phantom Menace. And that makes me think of Gungans and the Phantom Menace. And that makes me sad. Dropzone Commander looks like a good game. It shouldn't be making me sad.

How many units have shield generators? I think its 2, Heavy and command walker.

I find it pretty extreme that;

1) Dave managed to cram such an amazing amount of detail on such a small model. That command walker would have looked fine in a 28mm environment...but it's just 3,2cm tall?!

2) The painter (Dave?) has outdone himself.

Once again, I have to remind myself of the 10mm scale every time I see new models, they out-detail many models of larger scale. I look forward to having massive battles with these gorgeous little things =)

Oh man...I shouldn't have scrolled up. Your post reminded of the Gungan trash and now you've made ME sad. It's all Dave's fault!

Today's preview should be a Shaltari command vehicle. I can hardly hold back my enthusiasm.

Yup, if the rules are good I just have to decide on a second army to demo with.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.

I don't think there's any information about the prices knocking about yet, tim - Hawk Wargames are playing the cards close to their chest on that and the rules until their website launches at the end of the week (IIRC).

After listening to the D6 Generation Podcast today, Neil from Spartan described in enough detail to make me feel very anxious about the effort necessary to keep up with production demands. With the potential demands that their success is going to create, I sure hope their production is ready for the task at hand.

I really hope the rules match the models, since the models deserve it.
