What I managed to finish off today.

A Nightkin Master armed with a makeshift flail made from a car engine block (why ever there's still petrol fuel engines about in a world that moved over to electrical ones I don't know...).

The base model is a Nor'okk, Ettin by Reaper. I just did some repositioning with the arms and removed a head, then greenstuffed on a poncho thing. I had planned to stick a little stealthboy somewhere about it, but the thing would be so small and fiddly that I don't think it would've added much to the model.

A Raider Champion, or other similar elite type.

This, like the other humans I've been chucking out this past week or so is based on a Wargames Factory GI model. I greenstuffed on some armour (like the T-45d chest piece) and added a shotgun (from Statuesque Miniatures) and face mask (from Dust Tactics). I suppose should I make some more Raiders he'll break up all the models that're wearing bondage wear and not much else.

And last a guy in some Lightweight Metal Armour.

As per the WIP I posted earlier, this is another greenstuffed feller. I need to get better at sculpting as I kind of prefer having models that I've worked on myself as opposed to ones which are straight out of the blister pack (and well that way I can also makes things closer to stuff from the games too). The helmet's by Crooked Dice btw.

I have three models in combat armour, a Raider with a chainsaw and a Super Mutant left to paint. Hmn, when that Super Mutant's done I may post up a line up of the other ones that I have just to show off how big Reaper's models are in comparison to the Mantic models that I own (I don't have the Vinni one btw. I can't stand having the exact same models as everyone else. Weird that). There's still a half painted shack that needs finished too, but its easier for me to paint figures, so that's been set aside for a few weeks (and that's probably why I have tons of models, but barely any of my terrain painted. ...Well when I say barely any I mean that I have enough to cover a table right now, but there's still boxes of unpainted stuff that needs some loving).

Anyway, there's your lot for this evening. I'm still considering making some more models based on the armour sets from the latest games, so... if anyone happens to have any requests, I'm open. I just want to improve myself enough that its not the models that are crap, its just my painting.

@ Lone Cat

Graham dual wielded his pistols? Huh, didn't know that. I know that the devs thought it'd be cool if he could pistol whip with his gun, so they stuck that in. I have some M1911s about, hell I have piles of loose guns from WWII and the Cold War, its the ones that're straight out of the Fallout games that I don't have many of. It'd have to be the actual Burned Man, not the Legate, that I'd make though. My games are set in a period before he was burned, but who cares? I'll see... Here's the pose if I ever do go through with it.

Spoiler:

The Legion are a bunch of hypocrites that only follow their code because Caesar tells them to. Given that the man himself considers himself above them, its not as if those with power in the Legion don't break a few laws themselves. I mean it was illegal to be a homosexual in the real world Roman Legion, but the whole empire was notorious for it (in the warrior societies of that region such activities were seen as building bonds between soldiers, hell I think it was the Greeks who's most feared regiment was made entirely of gay couples). Oh, and I don't think there's any canon ending for New Vegas at the moment. Even if the devs happen to let slip how they think it should've finished, its still up in the air till the next game comes out.

The Legion can craft pretty much anything that doesn't require industrial manufacturing processes. However I think it'd be a little dumb for them to just plain not use manufacturing plants to outfit their army, but given how many of their members just have machetes and spears they just might not. So what they are capable of making is any slug firing weapon that doesn't require too much tooling. I'd compare their manufacturing industry to the Khyber Pass gunsmiths I suppose. They probably just scavenge for anything more advanced than that (and bear in mind that they took over a lot of communities which could have had access to advanced technology, so they may be using some of the stuff they owned).

Well I found a few leftover sprues of Wargames Factory Zombie Vixens there that still had a few bits left on them. With those so far I'm putting together three female Raider, as well, due to plastic kits as a whole being made up of male models, I don't have many women in my collection. The armour sets planned are Badlands, Blastmaster, and Painspike. ...Guess which one's taken the most effort so far (oh hell those bloody tiny spikes are so finicky!). There's also a male raider in Blastmaster armour too which I put together and waiting for the greenstuff to dry before I add in the details. So, other than those the models which I sculpted earlier have all been base coated, which means I should start painting one or two of them tonight some time (probably the Super Mutant and a Raider like I said, as the other three are all wearing some form of Combat Armour, and its nice to have a bit of consistency).

Right, anyway, that's what's happening in the immediate future for any of you that happen to be massive stalkers and want to know what I'm doing every second of the day (modelling wise, in every other case you can oggle my Facebook instead).

Oh, and is it me or does that Nightkin look like a Warmachine Trollblood? Nah? All right, whatever, screw you guys if you can't see the truth! =)

I've had a go at a few Raiders based on those from Fallout 3 (just the basic armour sets, not the Pitt ones). These still need tidying mind, and yeah, I'm not the most fantastic sculptor. =P

Right, WIPs. First, Raider Blastmaster armour, both male (with a Combat Knife and Tommy Gun) and female (with a Molotov Cocktail and a Service Rifle)

And Raider Badlands (Colt M1911) and Painspike (Crowbar) armours. Man those little spikes were a right bugger to work with, which is why I just went for plain old bolts after a while.

The female models are WGF Zombie Vixens, and the male one is made from mostly GI parts (the torso's off of a Perry kit though). Heads are Maxi Mini/ Brother Vinni (youknow it'd be nice if there was a set of punk heads out there in a similar pack). Huh, I should make a ghoul with one of those female zombies (uh, a shapely ghoul, the zombies in that kit aren't very emaciated. Great for corpses though).

Always a treat to browse through this thread.

Forgive me if this has been asked, but are you using any game rules for these mini's or is it primarily a modelling exercise?

Looking great anyway. How do you plan on doing the brain in a jar for the robots a page or two back?

@ shasolenzabi

Hey dirty bandages and used bed sheets are the height of wasteland fashion (it helps that they're easy to sculpt too).

@Medium of Death

At the moment I'm using the 7Tv ruleset for my games. However an actual game involves me turning up with the core rulebook, plus four or five of the expansions (primary the zombie ones as they contain rules for scavenging loot and some post apocalyptic survivors stat lines). On top of those I write up my own custom rules for most every scenario I run too, uh, both before and during games (I'm the type of GM that just makes stuff up on the fly. If it sounds cool/plausible then what the hey, do it - ie the one time I stuck a Sherman in the middle of the board and hinted that players could use it to blow up a Deathclaw. ...They blew up a sniper instead, but the point was there). ...Right, I'm digressing. That said, despite all the fancy rules and crap, this is actually turning into more of a modelling endeavour, as well finding players can be a real bitch. Its the kind of game that people'll play when they don't have anything else on, as it seems every time I make an effort to organise games real life matters manage to get in the way most of the time unfortunately.

As far as the brains are going, I've asked a guy who's made his own Robobrains if he could send me a few of them. He's been delayed though, as ...well I don't want to go into it right now in case it falls though, but he's a bit involved with some other bits and pieces that he's making right now, and said he'll chuck them in with the other stuff he's sending me (me not going into it doesn't mean go onto Lead Adventure and look at a particular Vault related thread...).

Right, I planned on posting these after I'd slept and tidied them up a bit, but I may as well throw them up right now.

I'm out of string and wire, so the poles at the bottom and around the wrists are unfinished, as would I like to maybe have some hanging electrical lines coming off of the busted girders. These should go along with some bits I have set aside for a Legion encampment if things go to plan (what plan? I build this crap on the fly). They take minutes to put together, so I think that another five are in order so that I can properly line a roadway with the things. Eugh, it just struck me that I have some sculpting ahead of me. It'd be cool to have some NCR Troopers up on those things I mean (hmn, and perhaps a BoS Knight or something, I'll see). ^^

Yeah, those are drinks straws on the top acting as fuses. Hey, it beats buying an 00 gauge kit (even if I'm now short of a few straws to drink my Coke with).

1. Are you saying that Legion warsmith can craft or perform industrial manufacturing of firearms? (like lever action rifle)
2. Which 'crucification' details are more correct? the classical crucificaion (as seen on any arts relating to Jesus Christ) included wrist nailings. but in FNV. treads and ropes are used instead (in Battle of Nelson, three cricified troopers can actually be rescued. and once done they will flee the scene)
3. 'Legions are Hypocrite'? how? apart of Rex story (and brain quest. where player (male only?) may challenge Antony to duel with his mongrel... Lupa)
4. Tell me about an active steel mill seen in Vegas. who runs the place? Mr. House?
5. What do Van Graffs have against the NCR (And it's said that despite its territorial size, they're capable to destry the Republic)? And is there any accounts of trechery Van Graffs did in Mojave?
- If player do Brotherhood of Steel quests, there are moments that player may replace its leadership (or keep the existence). Who's more beneficial to the Brotherhood?
A. Edgar Hardin (Sick of Utobitha propaganda and wants player to shut them up good)
B. Mc Namara (Fears Van Graffs over a 'harmless' Utobitha. asks player to storm Silver Rush and massacre every Van Graffs members)
6. Why NCR distastes energy weapons? (And Ironically. The Legion is very welcoming it. so welcoming Van Graffs gunrunning operations)
7. About engine block flail. I think the chop shop doesn't know how to use it once the vehicle has its engine replaced with Nuclear Electrics.

@ shasolenzabi

I didn't think of using them as plain old objective markers, but I suppose that could be a scenario (ie one side has to chop down any surviving prisoners. ...Uh, not that woman that I have strung up right now though. She's missing both her legs and half her face from all the carrion).

@ Lone Cat

A guy in his shed out in the arse end of nowhere can fix and build a gun. I'd think that some tribal could learn those skills eventually, especially given that there's a whole army of them.

Both nails and ropes were used in crucifixion. Those in New Vegas don't have nails on them presumably because the guy up there would be long dead before the player ever found them from shock and blood loss. With the ropes however, the crucified individual doesn't die immediately, no they're up there for days and dies until they die from lack of water or having their faces picked out by carrion. Also, with the Roman form of crucifixion the condemned were stripped naked too (as with most of the Bible a lot of its been made child friendly, so Jesus is commonly depicted as wearing a loin cloth for some reason), something that the New Vegas devs avoided.

The guys at the top of the Legion flaunt its edicts, just like the real world Romans. They bugger each other, even though homosexuality is illegal. They carry weapons that use advanced technologies (ie the theric lance and ballistic fists, well sort of). They probably get hopped up on booze and doped out of their minds on drugs too, I mean Caesar's sitting there on a painkiller drip and hooked up to medical machines, despite both of those being illegal. Nah, the guys at the bottom follow the Legion's code to the letter, but the higher ups know its just a means to an end, and as long as they aren't caught they can do what they want (and even if they are they can just fight the person accusing them in the arena or knock their head in and call it just under the code).

Oh yeah, there's a Steel Mill by Camp McCarran right? That whole area's fiend territory I think, though its right next to some NCR patrols.Though I seem to recall it being filled with Mr Gutsys, so I'd guess that its just an old automated pre-war plant which the robots are still running (which doesn't make much sense, as the NCR should have taken it, and then maybe lost it to the Fiends, but there's bits and bobs of the games that're silly if you think about them).

The Van Graffs hate the NCR as the Republic regulates them. In the early days the Van Graffs had the power to destroy the NCR sure, but now the Republic's become so large and has a standing army they just don't have the strength to take them on directly. They don't want the NCR there telling them that slavery is illegal, that they can't sell their guns to whoever'll pay, and well that they just can't go about being evil gits to everyone. Post New Vegas I'd assume that the Van Graff's won't do too well, though that's just based the need for them to be killed to save Rose of Charon Cassidy. That said there's still the rest of the family in New Reno and elsewhere. Whether the NCR finds out about them siding with the Legion is up in the air, as if the Republic did ever discover this it'd mean the whole family would be purged by the army, or alternatively a mob war would erupt in New Reno (as that'd give the other family the excuse to roll in, with NCR backing).

Who's better? McNamara, the guy who knows when a fight's lost and that can acknowledge that the Brotherhood's failing because of its tenants (even if he's bound not to break them), or Hardin, someone who's angry at the world and worships the Brotherhood's honour code. Hardin's the type of guy that managed to get the Brotherhood in the mess their in right now. He would've had every member of the Mojave chapter martyr themselves at Helios One just to prove a point. McNamara however is more a thinker. He does what he does for the best of his people. but knows that he has to uphold his position, and thinks that the Brotherhood would be destroyed ideologically, if not psychically if he abandoned its ways. The point is that neither man is the best leader for the group, its just the choice though of whether the Brotherhood dies a quick death at the hands of their enemies, or a slow death from being tied to their code and not recruiting new members. Ignoring the DC chapter, and the Midwest one (which may or may not have been destroyed by the Legion, as the DC chapter couldn't find a trace of them), its possible that the Mojave chapter's the only remnant of the Brotherhood of Steel out there, so unless they change the faction may just die off due to its inability to adapt.

Both Elders have you shut down the Super Mutant's base btw.

The NCR don't use energy weapons as it doesn't fit in with their aesthetic style. On a non-meta note I'd say that they just want weapons that are reliable, instead of expensive and difficult to manufacture ones (as can the crystals in laser weapons be knocked out of alignment easily). The Legion however, at least Vulpes' lot, are open to underhanded tactics as long as they achieve their goals in the end (though the same could be said of the NCR). They know their army's outgunned, so distributing some energy weapons, whilst making up some excuse as to why that doesn't violate their code, is a means to an end. That said, the Van Graff's would presumably be eventually wiped out by the Legion, as there's only one ruler in Caesar's land. =P

Maybe. I mean those pickup trucks in New Vegas come in both Nuclear and gasoline powered variants. Petrol was still being sold up until the start of the war, its just that it was ridiculously expensive. So yeah, perhaps people were retrofitting their old cars with electrical engines to save on buying entirely new vehicles (the latest model of Corverga cost a few hundred thousand dollars to buy, though that's including inflation).

So far
1. Maxson dynasty is gone. right?
2. ED-E log entry recorded in Adams Air Force Base (far far east in the edge of DC. now under the Columbian Brotherhood complete control) also revealed the waypoint programmed for it (slipping through the ranks of Autumm's regular eyebots. as he's not really pleased with ED-E projects and its dev team). it went to Chicago (and got IL License plate fixed on its body... suggested that Enclave is sitll there, struggling just to survive as an organization since thier might is shattered by postwar factions outsmarted them) Chicago is the place where Fallout Tactics begin. (And few clicks away there's an abandoned Army bunker which Midwest BoS is founded) so If the Legion did NOT cross the Wasach to Missisipi basin (or the Midwest Brotherhood DID cross Wasach further west into Utah and easternmost rim of Moajve). The Enclave might have finished them off (or the remainder might go further south to Luisiana but who knows? so far no Fallout games took place in Gulf Commonwealth as yet.. not counting a silly Fallout BoS) but given that Enclave share the same soft spots as Maxsonite BoS. their control in Chicago is not really so strong and they too! might have suffer high death tolls fighting Midwest BoS.
3. And who will order players to raid Van Graffs? Cass quest also have an alternative that... ahem. inform NCR authority what Crimson Caravan is doing (without killing any Van Graffs)

I put together another five telephone poles to go with the original lot. Along with those I added a few more profligates, which still need to be greenstuffed up, but will be turned into: two generic women (who've been pecked at a bit by carrion, uh, one of whom's had her legs bitten off by coyotes. Poor woman), two Chinese Remnants (a regular conscript and a commando) and an NCR Trooper (who's looking distinctively dishevelled with that mat of hair). Oh and those transistor things atop the girders have been shuffled about too. Originally I had them placed in the same positions on every pole as I only had one reference image to go by, but now I've actually looked at the in game telephone poles I've realised my error there.

*Insert Life of Brian joke here.

And with all these Raiders and poor folk strung up on crosses about, I thought I'd bring back a bit of civility to this blog. Here's a pair of modern suburban women about the house, armed with the most dangerous of household items; the rolling pin!

Right, I have coursework to do, so that'll be the lot for the day most likely. I'll see about painting bits and bobs throughout the week, though after Wednesday hopefully I'll have plenty of free time (well unless I screw up my coursework that is, which is a possibility with all these dollies I've been playing with lately).

Ah, and plugging a good guy here, Messyart's been working on some new models that're soon to be released (pending sorting out some mold issues and tidying up the details). This mutated human centipede is amongst what he's currently working on:

So check out his thread over on Lead Adventure if you want to keep an eye on his current projects. If you want to pick anything up from him make an account on that site and send him a PM.

@ Lone Cat

There's still a Maxson in D.C., but as far as the West coast goes, probably. There's still the NCR state of Maxson (whether there's any Brotherhood there still is unlikely), so at least their name lives on.

The events of Fallout: Tactics are non-canon in every instance where they are not mentioned by a canon game. From what comments are in the canon games the Midwestern BoS do exist, but they fought a war with the Legion which result's can't be confirmed (Legion Centurion wear elements of T-45d armour scavenged from Brotherhood suits). As far as the Enclave, yes there probably is remnants of them out there all over the US, holding up in old refueling stations and small camps (like Navarro, which FYI was regarded as a backwater in scale), or dispersing into wasteland communities. So, there may have been a second BoS-Enclave conflict (disregarding the one in Fallout 3, which takes place way after the events of Tactics), but its size and canonical status are in question until the devs gives hints to it. I suppose that there needs to be some sort of barrier to the Legion as for their expansion East, so the rivers and a garrison of Brotherhood troops may just be that (the eventual war with the NCR made all movement East also a moot point). I say this as I don't think Bethesda would appreciate having Obsidian hemming in Bethesda's game area too much.

I don't know who orders you to kill the Van Graffs, as well, I just go in and kill the lot of them on every playthrough as they order Cass' death. The NCR want rid of them even before they could know about the Van Graff's siding with the Legion, as for the Brotherhood dislike them marketing energy weapons. The Van Graffs hate the NCR, and the Republic thinks likewise, but they just can't do anything about them due to other problems elsewhere. If the NCR were to find out that they were siding with the enemy then that'd force their hand and they'd need to wipe the family out. As far as the local gangs I doubt many of the families (bar the Omertas), the Kings, or the Bishop of New Reno appreciate the presence of the the Van Graffs on their territory (the Bishops for one I think have an ongoing clandestine mob war against them).

Made in th
Pyromaniac Hellhound Pilot

1. You added Maud's muggers (available only via Wild Wasteland trait and after exiting Cerulean robotics (on Garrett quest))
2. Yes The Legion fought Midwest BoS and probably won in some theatres. they ... however have another challenges fighting Nevada rangers and Super Mutants... Centurion armor also made of Super Mutants armor pieces!
3. The Brotherhood considered Energy Weapons taboo to the outsiders that's why one leader wants Van Graffs shut down. Gunrunners still resort to Mafia ways (yet they supply guns to NCR) but prefer defensive manuevers (manufacturing plant entry restrictions+ shoot trespassers!) so not to lose customers. too bad Gunrunners can't make energy weapons.
In Freeside, Kings, and Locals (Including Mick & Ralph) don't really trust Van Graffs.. one local / (maybe Beatrix Russel), called Gloria van Graff and Jean-Baptise Cutting ' A pair of Radscorpions')... the quest called King's Gambit has a plenty of options to organize truce between The Kings and NCR, the truce that costs Pacer's life (and not incriminating the NCR)... plenty of options included killing Pacer with energy weapon (or give him a letter provoking him to go mad at Van Graffs... this option killed Pacer via a script)
but... Crimson Caravan worked with Van Graffs (seen in Cass quests, an alternative mode is to steal incriminating evidence proving that Crimson Caravan and Van Graffs are breaking the NCR law.

Mick & Ralph doesn't seems to like Van Graffs much. simply because of them being a direct competitor (and another reason is that Mick & Ralph also a local vendor of Gunrunners, any GRA weapons may be bought there). Mick did also run guns to the Omertas until recently. though they appreciate The Kings (and works for that faction). M&R seemed to favor Big Sal and Nero over Cachino (you can swap between Pipboy with Pimpboy after you ended Omerta quests on the behest of Big Sal and Nero, otherwise talk to Troike) despite that the Duo went all the way with the Legion.

So if player help Cachino in a Coup.. What will happen to the Omertas during the 2nd battle for Hoover Dam ... Supposed that player fought AGAINST the Legion under any flag (NCR, House, or Yesman) .will Cachino still cooperate with the Legion Frumentarii? (or can be negotiated not to do so)... or did they destined to die by the hands of House, Chairmen & White Gloves alliance?

Yeah, they were sort of based on that encounter, but I only have two, so I don't know if I'll add a third and paint them all up in pink. Youknow, just to bring out to annoy players whenever they swear too much during a game or something (actually I probably curse more than anyone when playing, but the GM's above these rules).

As that whole theatre probably won't be visited again in the games who knows what'll happen with it. I think the devs have just washed their hands of the region and intend to leave it up to the fans to decide the details, beyond a few broad strokes references.

The Gun Runners can make energy weapons I think, but they just chose not to so as not to invite any attention to themselves from the Brotherhood or anyone else that would want to steal them from them. They're already making enough cash from their contracts with the NCR that they can make their way without investing in other products. Oh, and the Gun Runners also booby trap their shipments with explosives as well (which may just be for meta reasons, ie so the player doesn't shoot up one of their caravans and comes away with a stash of expensive guns).

Hey the Van Graffs aren't nice people, but nor are a lot of the higher ups in the organisations about the Mojave. So if it aids their personal interests people are willing to deal with the Van Graffs. However one's personal interests also involve not having the NCR put their foot down on their organisation, so having underhand dealings with individuals or groups that oppose the Republic's interests aren't advised. The Crimson Caravan in particular seem to be willing to do whatever it takes to turn a profit, however they have stronger ties to the NCR than the Van Graffs, so I'd think that the Republic would be a bit more lenient towards them with any reprisals (ie they'd destroy the Van Graffs, but the Crimson Caravan are the largest transport group in the region, so I doubt the NCR would want to burn their bridges with them, nor the reverse on the Crimson Caravan's part).

Mick and Ralph will do what they can to turn a profit too. However I doubt they're without morals like others in the area, though they probably don't have many. The Legion moving in on their territory, whilst perhaps offering money making opportunities, would be pretty bad for them unless they could prove themselves invaluable. I'm referring to the Legion laws on homosexuality here, though I think they're more pro-Independence/House/NCR than Legion, but they'd make money in whatever case. =P

I think the Omertas are wiped out whatever happens, bar with a Legion victory. They've proven that they intend to go against the other families, House and the NCR. If any of those factions won out in the end the Omertas wouldn't have a foot to stand on, as they've thrown in their lot with the Legion hoping that they'd succeed. If Cachino usurps Big Sal and Nero then he takes up an anti Legion view I think, I mean why would the Courier kill those two guys if they were pro-Legion. With a new leader in charge of the Omertas perhaps the other families would stay their wrath, but whether they'd allow anyone who had a hand in the betrayal to live, or if the family could still hold power on the strip is up in the air. It would have been nice to have had a post-endgame segment like was originally planned, which could have explained away all of this, but unfortunately that restricted the devs too much with what they could do, nor did they have the time to implement it (that said some NPCs, like Colonel Moore, still have inaccessible dialogue regarding this though).

Only Mr. House gives an order to negotiate with Cachino once he usuped Big Sal and Nero. Yes man (or Benny himself) wanted him and the whole Omertas dead (But Swank is too cozy with his status and won't strike first even if it's clear that the Omertas are snakes.) White Gloves looked down on the Omertas but prefer reactive measure.

Tell me about the Fiends. are they 'tribals'? and which portion of Vegan populations did they descent from? No one likes them very much. The Legion simply used them as fifth column (And If the Legion win. The Fiends will be exterminated), NCR triggerhappy troops will enjoy killin' them (And put a bounty on some of their leaders). but what about the Kings? Khans... however, saw them as potential clients. but what about Omertas? did they recruit prostitutes from female Fiends too? because Fiends are a junkie tribe and The Omertas use chems on clients or victims (sometimes lesser Soldati uses them too but not really encouraged I think)

Despite saying I wouldn't make anything else, I did the silly thing and threw my coursework out the window and made dollies instead. Yup, my future career will be a a toilet cleaner.

First, well I had another body left spare on my desk, so I thought I'd use it. I've been wanting to use a M79 Grenade Launcher on a model since I bought the things at a show a few weeks ago. Its not obvious in this shot, but she's reloading the launcher with a shell in her left hand. Whatever, something to go along with the crucifixes I suppose. That's not to say she's part of the Legion though, as they don't view women too highly. Rather I suppose she's murdered a Legionaire and taken his cloths or something.

And a pair of NCR Military Police officers. Those little twists of wire about the tops of their cattle prods were a right bugger to put together, so I just left them as is before I took a hammer to the models. Two MPs probably aren't much use in games, so in future ideally they could do with expanding. In games they'd probably be used to guard prisoners, or to knock some civilian's heads in (or troopers with a point to prove).

@ Lone Cat

The Fiends are a group of Raiders that are so hopped up on drugs they don't have much sense most of the time. They're made up of drug addicts, so I'm assuming their recruiting strategy goes as far as walking up to a jet addict and saying, "you like drugs? We have drugs. You like guns? We have guns". The point to the whole gang is that they're just a bunch of generic raiders, the only thing that's holding them together are their leaders and the drug supply. I'm guessing they weren't much of a force until they took over Vault 3, as before that presumably they were just a mob that moved from place to place (I think one of the NCR officers says that they would've been destroyed if they didn't have somewhere to hide). The Fiends only care about themselves and where the next hit's coming from, so they screw over everyone, bar their suppliers. I wouldn't call the NCR trigger happy, given that the Fiends are crazy, out of their minds on drugs, and likely to shoot at them given the chance. As far as the Omertas go, well if they had the opportunity, and the assurance that the Raiders would be wiped out once their use is over with, then I'd imagine they'd want to throw some drugs their way if they had the option. However that's the Khan's territory, so moving in on their drug running schemes would invite having to butt heads with that group, a group also in Caesar's pockets (unless the Courier does something about that), which may not be so advised.

So yeah, the Fiends are just a run of the mill Raider group made up of misfits and junkies. I'm guessing they just turned up one day out of the blue and started causing problems for people. That they're crazy doesn't invite asking questions about their background, though evidently they've travelled about enough to recruit members from NCR towns, and New Canaan.

The Fiends went to New Canaan. and recruit members from the other factions? (The Mormons, The 80s and The White Legs)?
The Omertas got new prostitutes through drugging any females fool enough to wander near them or some other way around. but they run chems on these girls to keep them docile. (evidence seen in a girl named Dazzle, hooked to Med-X, and may shag the Courier (regardless of gender) if you have Med-X + Perk (Lady Killer for male courier, Cherz la Femme for female courier) or they might as well prefer a girl who already a chem addict so no problems forcing her to work with them.
Khans may be talked off to severe their ties with the Legion. but one Legion emissary must be exposed by the Khan Council.

Hey y'all. So I have a game arrange for next week and I'm thinking I could do with some Fallout tokens for that (the 7Tv rules I'm using are choc full of bloody tokens). Right, so I could go make some card ones in the style of the original 7Tv lot, or I could go for something a bit more interesting (as I've seen on a few other blogs). To that end I've just bought a bag of bottle caps to turn into various different token types hopefully (ie Nuka Cola/Sunset Sarsaparilla ones would represent the commonly used tokens, Quantum for Objectives, etc). So, this is just me updating you fine folks on what's happening the wonderful world of me.

...Imagine those with fancy logos on them. Oh come on they'll look fine! Hmph, whatever, screw you guys.

Yeah, but I have tons of coursework to get through, so nout progress occurred today. A package turned up yesterday from the Bazaar, which amongst other things includes models that I'll be using as young Wanamingos, Tribals, a *not Mad Max, and a few buzz saws that'll look great on Raiders. Yup, and that's your fill. Summer's soon, so plenty of days hidden away from the light in my bedroom are upcoming.

@ Lone Cat
Nah, rather people from throughout the wastes have wound up addicted to drugs and the Raider lifestyle and found their way into the Fiends. I doubt that the other factions would think too highly of a bunch of drug addicts with an attitude moving in on their territory, I mean they only exist in New Vegas because the NCR's occupied elsewhere and they're able to hide in their Vault whenever a structured effort to take them is organised.

Good work on your various chaps and chapesses. Like the crucifixions.
I always wondered what you were meant to do with the people that are still alive on the crosses. You let them down, they die. You leave them up, they'll die eventually. So I used to "put them out of their misery" with a bullet to the head and I always lost karma... No pleasing some people.

Good idea with the bottle caps.

@ shasolenzabi
Yeah, I was considering using the Sarsaparilla caps as objective markers. I suppose I could add a little number next to the start in cases where those are relevant, but whatever look's cool is the goal.

@ Dr H
There's mods which allow you to take those people down, but given how long they've been up there I'm guessing their limbs would be wrecked, and they'd be suffering from pretty bad dehydration and sun stroke. So yeah, the game didn't give you karma for it, nor do I think it should, but I had my character pull out their pistol and put them out of their misery. I mean killing them's not something that's condoned in our society, but the game hardly give you another option than just saying, "yeah sorry about the situation your in mate, but I'll be off now. Hey, that's a nice pair of boots you have there. On second thoughts...".

Well I've had a go at painting a few bits and bobs today to use in a game I have next week. First I tidied up some of the older models which are going to be used, including Brotherhood Knights (guys in combat armour) and NCR Troopers (who I'll probably replace sometime with models with better sculpted armour and actual Service Rifles instead of M1 Garands). With those done it was the little bits that're there to tart up a board that had some paint on them, which means Flamingos to sit on the lawn of that suburban house I made (and yeah, I still have another three to work on).

There was some orange street cones too, but I think I may have posted those before, and really all I was doing with those is touching up the paintjob. Right, I also painted up the Legion Lady (which is her name until someone comes up with something better. What's Latin for ball buster?) too. She'll be thrown in with the Legion side for that game as I need to give them something else other than hordes of mooks (which have proved to not make fun games with their Zerg rush tactics unfortunately). Hopefully her grenade launcher will give the Legion a way of coping with the Brotherhood Paladins in Power Armour and Super Mutants.

Whilst painting those I put together some frag mines so things didn't become too dull (painting can become a bit boring for me at times). I've tidied the clay up a bit as it was still soft when I took the picture, but they're not quite so messy now. In terms of rules they'd just be treated as grenades that are set off by moving within 3'' of them. If the model setting them off passes an agility test though they can pick them up and set them down again as an action (hmn, or run at someone at blow themselves up at close range I guess. Weird, there isn't a rule for that in the base 7Tv rules).

Now there's two combat armour mercenaries sitting half painted on my table along with that Super Mutant with a rifle. I'm really just aiming right now to make things that are required for that game, but if one of my orders doesn't arrive tomorrow I'll probably wind up painting some Raiders. I have some Centaurs from Messyart in the post to go with my Super Mutants, so those and the bottle caps are the big things which I need finished (which reminds me to check my printer's ink levels...). Righto, anyway, there's your lot for today. =)

I missed the post this morning, so I bought a glass bottle of Coke instead to knick its bottle cap. At least that gave me a chance to try something out. Originally my plan was to use printed out logos like I've seen others do, but when I tried that I found that achieving the same colour between the logo and the cap was difficult. So instead I've gone the route of just painting the logos instead. It'll take me longer, but in the end I'll achieve the same results.

Its my thinking that it'll be a cool idea to use bottle caps of various flavours to represent the different types of tokens from 7Tv. For the moment this one represents a Scavenger token, but that'll probably change to just a plain Radiation one (I'm not using it for radiation as at the moment I'm measuring the rads from the centre of terrain features). If the bottle caps turn up tomorrow I may switch over Scavenger tokens to Nuka Cola Victory (which have a US flag), as they seem more appropriate. This is only the first one that I've tried, so planning's a bit all over the place right now.

Other than that I'm painting a shack right now. My printer's out of ink, so I wasn't able to print off a particular poster I wanted to use on one of the shack's advertising signs, but I can make do with the ones I have copies of right now. I have a six hour shift tomorrow, which means my time's a bit screwed unfortunately, as I wanted to paint all those bottle caps today, but that does mean I can work on the other models I have half finished at least. Right, blither to you all later. =)

The varnish makes these a bitch to photograph btw. I found a loose beer cap on the street, which meant I could have a go at another cap (yeah, I live in a neighbourhood where there's beer caps in the street...).

Nuka Cola Victory, or a decent way to represent each player's victory points in a scenario. I'm trying to just bash these things out, as given how many I need to paint I don't want to be spending ages on them (though quality control is good). Hmn, should I rough the caps up a bit? At the moment I'm painting clean ones just to put down a design, but I'm wondering if they should be weathered a bit. For visual appeal I'm aiming at clean ones for the moment, but that may change (it doesn't take much to dirty these things up).

Whatever, these things do look pretty cool just sitting on my desk here. I'll try saying that after painting a hundred of the things though. Eugh, plus I'll have Messyart's Centaurs and a shack to paint on top of these. Woo!

So tell me about Marcus the Super Mutant. How did he predict the future of the Legion... that it will fall apart after Caesar is gone? And how did he learn to speak Caesar with soft 'c' ?? did the Frumentarii or any Legion goons try to attack Jacobstown or Black Mountain? (which Marcus was a leader of Supermutants there until Tabitha usurped him)

Well my bottle caps turned up today, but so did my stuff from Messyart. But I don't have 100 centaurs to paint, so I'm painting these instead. I didn't foresee that the bottle caps wouldn't be pre-stamped stupidly which meant I spent a half hour sitting n my garden hammering the caps to shape around a metal pole. With that done here's where I currently am with the caps.

That's forty four caps. The brown ones on the left are Quantum, the yellow are Fusion, blue are Victory, orange are Sunset Sarsaparilla, and the white and red are regular Nuka Cola (I guess the white ones are like New Coke, they didn't catch on). Anyway, what's left to do is to finish off the metal edges, add a rim to the coloured areas, stick on the logos, then varnish them and add a very light bit of weather (as I'm still iffy about really dirtying them up, they look quite nice when they're shiny like they are right now, but yeah, I'll weather them all up in one go for consistency).

@ Lone Cat

Marcus is an intelligent guy. He's been around since the time of The Unity and spent time with plenty of people to gain a bit of knowledge about the world. He's just using his intuition when he's talking about Caesar. As for the pronunciation of Caesar I can't even remember how he pronounces it. If he does so with a soft 'C' then that's the Anglicised way of doing it, which is how most do so. If he uses a hard 'C', which is uncommon bar people who study the language and well people that've played New Vegas, then he probably picked that up from reading books, or talking to intelligent people (like for instance former Enclave members).
