Thanks guys! Really appreciate the positive comments glad you like him.

Been working on the backstory somewhat for him, and a way of tying all of my various Eldar dabblings into a sort of cohesive proto-narrative. That's coming once I've made a few more dudes to tell the first bits of the story. Craftworlders mainly, which are lacking somewhat in my menagerie :S

Haha! It'd basically be the same, but with cosmic-horror Necrons back (with a dash more personality but not a shred more 'space-egyptian' than the original incarnation), more grey-areas and animosity between and within the factions. Everyone's been killing everyone else for 10,000 years. That doesn't just disappear because Chaos rears its ugly head every now and again.

Interestingly there is hints of Chaos Eldar in the new background stuff which is a neat little bit of validation for my Slaaneshi playthings

I think the Fallen Eldar have pretty much always been there. I'm sure I read a design thing back in the early 2000s where some Slaanesh models were deliberately modelled to look like they shared a common ancestry with the ol' Eldar.

Anyway, your new guy is great! The weathering looks amazing and I love how your limited palette works so well. What's the metal on his spear? It's somehow the same... tone? or whatever? as the bone. Good stuff.

Also, what bit is that bird-like thing on his shoulder?

Yeah i know that the daemonettes have a far amout of elven clues, which also translated really well to Fantasy. Just a shame i don't really like the models! They just seem,i don't know, lumpend and ungainly compared to the litheness-incarnate Juan Diaz ones...

Thanks man! He's actually an old guy but sort of remastered the metal on his spear's gehennas gold (stunning colour) with a Flesh Wash wash. Reikland Fleshade has a similar effect. The remastered stuff was a little stipple/drybrush of Warplock Bronze to break up the colour slightly. Not enough that you actually see it really, but it sort of changes the texture a lottle

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like them I'm flattered!

Glad they look in the least bit Blanchian as that's what I set out to do! Apply the Blanchian look to a faction that very rarely gets it.

Now if someone can do it with Tau I'll doff my hat to them I've got some ideas, but too many projects!

Well, I've been sitting on this dude for a while as I couldn't quite work out whether I liked the head I'd chosen or not. To the point that I wasn't really doing anything with him so I thought 'sod it, good enough' so here he is

Behold! Baharroth, The Cry of the Wind, The Winged Phoenix. Finest of the Asurya. 'Truescaled', so to speak

Now, the question is. How to paint him? Really, I lean pretty solidly towards Craftworld colours for Aspects, and don't wholly agree with the idea of named characters anyway. However, Phoenix Lords are jsut damn cool, and my favourite model ever when I was younger was Baharroth, so it had to be done

Does he look recognisably Baharroth to get away with a Craftworld colout scheme? Or does anyone have any ideas for making Baharroth's scheme a little more gritty?

Great job on this, he's recognizably Baharoth for sure and in my opinion much nice than the original model. Personally I'd paint him in his standard colours, I don't normally run unique characters but when I do I paint them in their official colours. I do this for two reasons: One is that it makes them immediately recognizable on the table of who they are and secondly it's so that I can push myself to try new colours and techniques that I don't normally get to paint on the rest of my force. You have some freedom on this guy too as his waist cloth can be any colour since the orginal Baharoth doesn't have one.

Oh, wow. That's awesome. I agree with sticking to the established Swooping Hawks pallette, but feel free to alter it to fit your own taste of course. Blues and greys in your desaturated style will look pretty cool.

Yeah that's what I was leaning to for this guy. Any other Aspect Warrior would be in craftworld colours (still waiting for plastics!), but specifically because the background for Baharroth is he's basically an animated suit of armour that over-writes the brain of anyone who dons it with his own, you'd have to have him recognisable as the same colours.

Question is, how to make him look like he's a 10,000 year old suit of armour, while still keeping true to the original palette (if not the direct colours).

It's a shame that his colours are about as unlike the colours of my armies as it's possible to get. Why couldn't I have liked Fuegan? He'd fit perfectly

I'm mainly in it for the kitbashing potential although they'll definitely make a mint out of me as I'll basically buy two of each kit, one for Aspects and another for kitbashes.

Really, what I'd love is a set of dual-kits. Hawks/Banshees, Dragons/Reapers, Scorpions/Spiders. Each of those have a similar pose/heaviness of armour, and you can get the variation by heads, arms/weapons and different front torsos. Less individual bits than the Scion kit certainly

Thanks dude glad you like him

The gun is a Shuriken Catapult arm/hand, with the body from a Dark Lance and the barrel from a Heat Lance. It originally started life as a Longrifle for a plastic Ranger, but found a good purpose here

Speaking of Rangers...

Of all those who travel the skeins of the webway, it is us outcasts, us vagrants, who most frequently plumb its depths. My kin seek to exploit it like a tool. The Dark Kin seek to control it like an animal. The Harlequins seek to hide within it like a maze. We, however, seek only to explore.

As you well know, the rift that bisects our galaxy has breached many gates, allowing She Who Thirsts to seep into our realm. However, that same breach has opened doors long thought sealed. I have braved the predators that stalk these forgotten passageways. Through broken portals, I have glimpsed views not seen since the Fall. There are Eldar there, I am sure of it. What do your runes say, Seer? Even my untrained mind can see these places are heavy with fate.
- Ilgaith who Wanders, Outcast of Angvellaith

Ilgaith who Wanders? Hah! Is that what he's calling himself. We know him as Ilgaith the Deserter. Tell me, why do you trust his word?

Why did I desert? I'll tell you why. They didn't even give me a name. 'Warborn', is what they called me. One of thousands upon thousands, dragged from the vats of Commorragh, dressed in the uniform of Craftworld life and thrown into the meat-grinder of their pointless wars. I gave myself my name the day I deserted. Do you know what Ilgaith means? No longer faceless...

Thanks dude! Yeah I wanted him to look properly weather-worn. He has been an outcast for quite some time after all.

The Harlequin mask is something I was thinking while making him but haven't written the fluff for yet. My thinking is that wandering the webway is a very dangerous place for a craftworlder to be. Spirit stones are both rare and valuable to the DEldar, Corsairs and other Outcasts that use the webway, many of whom wouldn't think twice about murdering an Outcast to take their possessions (or just for fun).

One of the things I've thought with my Ynnari is that when the Harlequins choose you for a task, or you do something for them, they provide you with a mask as a token of their favour. The various murderers and scavengers of the webway might think twice about murdering a servant of the Harlequins.

So, one way to protect yourself is to purchase a mask on the black market. No-one else knows you're faking it, provided you don't run into the Masque whose player was killed to procure said mask...

Baharroth looks amazing, to be honest! Nice job!

As for a paint scheme, why not go with the colors of a Pheonix!? You could start with cool purples and blues and work through reds and yellows, and the scheme could be desaturated through lots of washing/glazes to get the colors over a white basecoat?

PS have to ask, but where are the wings from?
