meh, i went with some of the brown colour i use, thinned it to a wash and then threw over a drybrush of ulthuan for an actually easy decent effect:







Some more details need a bit of work, some bits of the terrain didn't take the colour to well, and i may be forced to put some clutter over it.... (remember children, if you gauze do it in one go unlike Not Online,..... )

Other than that, some better pictures with some of the 31. and up it goes into finished state.

And of course beeing responsible aka using as you can see covering mats and newspappers if necessary... i do also regularly paint in the bedroom or dinning table because light is an issue.

Addmitedly having a cold and too wet cellar in winter which does impact the drying process quite a bit (aswell as my somewhat lackluster painting skills) is also more a forcing issue. Then again i don't do anything everywhere and it helps that i am not really a messy builder / painter beyond my paintstyle. In summer you might even find me painting outside. Also it's where the fireplace is sooo

It may, or may not, lead to more R&H infantry and tanks... and some conversions if i get it right

I at one point, did want to have a tyranid army, so yes i have the old macrag(? ultramarine rofflestomp planet) side of the set but was put off by metal at the time, mind you that Swarm tyrant is older then most, i am also unsure about size, but since i want to have a warrior spam list at some point, if only for KT and or small skirmish games, or for the inevitable Abhorent terrain pieces i am attempting to plan out and have the nids as a unaligned 3rd party...

ha, that is a wierd one, considering they are import articles for fun hunting ( For Meinel and Phyrax) and curbing the lesser beastmen population on the ship with their pens beeing decidedly too close to some radioactive garbage, i'd thought about black carapace, whiteish skin with some red aswell as my green colour applied liberally in wash form and recesses...

Alas since this is however a swarm tyrant out of metal, one of the WORST models to build in all of 40k history.... well behold what i , a somewhat decent builder , had to go through: 8 Hour building process with 3 attempts look like this:

So, erm, how to explain, i informed myself by one of our resident , i guess it's fair to say best, fellow dakkanauts on nids, catbarf on the concept of radioactive little nids...

anyways, i decided to lower the difference a bit with a Quasi light wash, aka wattered down black, after it dries i will use a bit of ulthuan grey for drybrushing and maybee even a hint of white to show the carapace is in use..

then, well , implement the radioactive material

Well ulthuan drybrush done and started getting Nuclear, about as nuclear as i got when i realised that GW fethed up the legends rules somehow even more then they should've any right to....

So the bigger nuclear parts done, not yet an idea in regards of if i go for a bit more fleshy swollen and sickly on the gun before i throw in a washed down nuclear colour ontop of him and add some white...

That’s a cool nuclear green, all “inanimate carbon rod” esque! Adds a suitable alien feel to bud for sure

thanks, it will get a nice wash of the nucler paint.







as you can see it dindn't turn out to my disadvantage that the paint remover damaged the plastic parts, it allows me to expand my painting skills torwards "ill".
Also, the rather obvious "swollen" gun will get double wash with it.

General, do you think we should've kept that trophy somewhere else? What no, he isn't dangerous in the cage.... No, i mean he started Glowing... No the Roentgens weren't there... Well, no but some jokesters put him in the reactor room... If he is fit, considering he allready seems to have changed to the same colour the roentgens are?

well, behold the first draft of the decimator brute...
yes the hellbrute is meh, the decimator is ace imo in regards to design imo.
Because the decimator isn't randomly mutated and therefore still usefull for all legions even as a stand in for a dreadnoght, whilest the modern hellbrute is , .. ok it exists ..


So now the first Draft got done into propper planning into my sketchbook...

I will use 3 parts of plasticards on the backside, 4 frontally, 1 Amiriger face , the cyclopean one, some wireing, some sprue to put the face a bit forward, one half styrofoam egg as a mainline holder together, an arm of a maulerfiend and an amiriger autocannon, which btw is just a discount Butchercannon tbh

Then i will probably need another 2 styrofoam eggs, for doing the same more or less to create a baseline full decimator maniple.

Then i will probably start converting up the main body into something else, maybee i will build that one wire hydra i allways wanted for an ectoplasma forgefiend`?

....

Maybee i'll build a rocket launcher defieler out of it?

Ideas for legs ? On material or just shape ? Honestly you already have nailed the classic shape of decimators shoulders, so unless you suddently get an idea that you really like, I'd stick with something classic, like two mechanical legs. If I was building one, I guess I'd go for agile looking ones, maybe because every time I fielded one, it jumped out from behind cover, massacred its target, and was immediately shot down in retaliation. These things strike hard but are not so tough... So yeah, I'd go with the mechanical versions of the old bloodletter legs probably.

the issue is finding the right parts for the joints, not to mention actually fitting it together

and yes the upper part is more like a 3 pair of leg chimera, well intended that way anyways.

i'll also do another two of my Knight conversions, for a more uniform Looking Forgefiend group, well 1 will be a mauler with dual saws but that is honestly just guess work at that stage.
