It's a thought i dwell on so much. After my eldar army, who should I be? I want to be Grey knights because they look cool and they have awesome rules. Maybe Tyranids because I love their models and also they have some pretty epic stuff (GENESTEALERS)!!!
My favourites are: Eldar(Current army), Grey Knights(My choice after eldar), Tyranids(Because Genestealers)
So... who are your favourite 3 armies?

Death Guard/Nurgle demons - great fluff, fun to paint, Papa Nurgle!
Emperor's Children - again great fluff, want to paint up some noise marines some time, maybe a Doom Rider
Death Korps of Krieg - great looking models, will probably be my next army due to that.

Edit: this is hard... I want to fit Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus/Black Legion in somewhere as well

1. Tau (Farsight Enclaves) - This was my first army back in 4th edition and has been my favourite ever since. It is competitive and very fluffy: no silly riptides, just XV8s/FWs/drones/broadsides.

2. Nurgle CSM - 100% hell-chicken free

3. DKoK (Although SoB could bump this with a good update)

1. Imperial Guard - my army, flashlights and adamantium unmentionables against a galaxy of horrors, what's not to love?
2. Orks. There's no way orks would not be on my list. More dakka!
3. Tyranids - because that way I get to re-enact Aliens, although charging a Sentinel into a Tyrant is...inadvisable.

2. Black Templars - You may say you love the emperor also but.... F** you.
3. Dark Eldar - the slickest looking army in the universe. Also, torturous, pain loving, drug inducing gang lords with gladiatorial seductresses? I dont mind if I do

- Sisters of Battle ... Mankind's finest (barring genetical enhancements), knightly heroines with a gothic look and a dark side hidden behind their stern angelic faces
- Imperial Guard, specifically, Valhallan Ice Warriors ... they embody humanity's bulk and the value of unity/camaraderie; easiest to emphatise with, classic dystopian kit
- Tau ... a refreshingly different race deviating from the usual Grimdark™ faire, yet without feeling out of place; occupies a role most sci-fi settings would have humanity be in

1. Ultramarines - First army all those years ago, they still have a special place in my heart.

2. Blood Angels - Current army and for reasons of 2nd edition nostalgia.

3. Imperial Guard - For the size, for the variety, for the tanks, because they're human, because they're tough, because they're dark... and for the tanks.

Angels Amaranthine - growing slowly

1. Sisters. Love their fluff, models and playstyle. Also my first army.
2. Chaos Daemons. Like their models. In the distant future, these might be my second army.
3. Imperial Guard. They're just regular soldiers, winning with sheer weight of firepower and bodies. Also lots of conversion potential.

Order of the Righteous Armour - 542 points so far.

1. Orks: made for fightin' and winnin'! Part of the reason why I like them so much is probably because the codex has by far the best and greatest longevity by being able to handle several edition changes with stride and confidence that makes other codices even just an edition behind pale in comparison such as Blood Angels or Tyranids. This alongside the fact that their fluff has to one of the best where it's a mix of wacky ork culture and also dark brutality once you look past the humour which gives the army a nuanced depth that few armies can depict. Their models are also one of the most varied and bootiful with scratchbuilds galore so I'm definitely glad I chose them for my first (and so far only) army.

2. Imperial Guard: These guys are a byword for guns. Lots of which that are LONG and HARD. Love their tanks and artillery and though I'm not crazy about Catachans/Cadians I absolutely adore the Death Korps of Kriegs and I find that they are the best in demonstrating humanity's struggle as they have to have balls of steel to deal with all the myriad horrors of the universe. That plus who doesn't love mass flashlights?

3. Black Templars: I've always been interested in the Crusades in history and these guys let me re-live through those times in a much more honorable and sci-fi/high fantasy sense. Plus gotta love them for sticking the finger to the Codex Astartes and actually being active throughout the Imperium. Plus they're battle cry is second only to the power of da WAAAGH! No pity! No remorse! No Fear!

If I had the patience to build/paint and move that many models during gameplay my top two would definitely be:

1) Tyranids
2) Imperial Guard
With 3) Eldar

But as to the armies I actually play/own:
1) Blood Angels
2) Death Guard / Chaos
3) Orks
