I've been trying to figure out a "generalist" semi competitive list at the 1k point level that I could use against most opponents without needing to come up with a new list every game and this is what I came up with... I would appreciate construction comments and suggestions.

HQ-

Biker Warboss - 155pts
Power Klaw, Attack Squig, Cybork Body, Bosspole

Elites-

5 Lootas - 75pts

Troops-

5 Nob Bikers - 280pts
Kombi-skorchas, Painboy

20 Shoota Boyz - 170pts
2x Big Shoota, Nob/w Power Klaw, Bosspole

15 Gretchin + 1 Runtherder - 55pts

Fast Attack-

Dakkajet - 130pts
Extra Twin-Linked Supa Shoota, Flyboss

Heavy Support-

Battlewagon - 135pts
Deff Rolla, Grot Riggers, 4x Big Shoota

1000pts

I reckon you'd be better off with two battlewagons, or two dakkajets, as opposed to one of each.

Well originally I did have two battlewagons in this list but in this version I do not because they take up a lot of points and are not always worth those points unless you make them extremely cheap in which case I would just run a wagon rush list but I'm not persuaded that a wagon rush is superior to this list. On the other I'm sure how I would move the points around to get another dakkajet either. What I do know is that bikers, especially nob bikers are a pain to deal with at this point level and will chew though almost anything but I didn't want them to be the only target.

I'd drop the Kombi Scorchas on the Bikers myself to save on some points. They're one-use only per Nob and the Bike's TL Dakkagun will chew up infantry just as easily, if not more so, than the Scorchas will. That'll get ya another 25pts to play with easily. Drop the Grots for another 55. Lose the Big Shootas in the mob for another 20. Unless you're running the mob up to CC, drop the PK on the Nob for another 25. There's 125pts right there for a DakkaJet minus the Flyboss. Drop the Bosspole off of the Nob as well and you can take Flyboss with DakkaJet #2.

I'm fine with dropping the Kombi-skorchas, I just added them for a little extra versatility. I'm not so sure about dropping the grots tho, they fill an important role which is sitting on a back field objective (or a mobile shield). Only two troops seems like a gamble. Also ideally the boyz are going to leave the wagon eventually but unless I'm fighting Tau or something there not going into CC, so I could drop the nob.

Here is a edited version of the list based on the comments...

The biker Nobz are a point sink that will die quickly and do little damage. I'm hoping you bought them all cybork bodies, that will help a lot, but they've got no gear. They need 1-2 Power Klaws and a WAAAGH banner if you really want to emphasize their effectiveness. Otherwise, they just don't give enough bang for their buck.

at 1k i would not do nob bikes! they cost to much and so many walking boyz or in battlewagons can do you way better!

Lol, why is it that when I advise against Nob Bikers in one thread I'm fighting the tide, but in this one we've already got two people saying that?

I would certainly keep the KS on the Nob Bikers, or at least on any that get big choppas or PK. Don't underestimate the effects of getting like, 6 hits per biker at S5 AP4 for just 5 points.

I don't like nob bikers cus you kill 2-3 and ur forced to take a leadership and pretty high chance of failing. Iv used them many times and they just run off the bored or get to shoot once or twice never assult:/

I dunno, I've found them actually really useful along with DeffKoptas. They're really underrated IMO. I like to take Nob Bikers as opposed to regular bikers just because of the 2 wounds as opposed to one. The painboy with them gives them FNP and Cybork if you pay the points for them which could up their survivability a lot.

If you were to run Wazadakka Gutsmek as opposed to the Warboss, you'd get the Bike of the Aporkalypse which is just freakin awesome to be able to turbo boost AND fire its weapons. You can be all the way across the board with your biker mob in one turn!

My nob bikers have been the star of each of my games. The games I lost I tried to just run warbikers not with the nob upgrades.

I think the dakkagun is a good enough weapon to hit before an assault. I use 5 bikers with the warboss. painboy, cyborks, 2 pks, waaagh banner.

These guys are a force to be reckoned with. But yes at 1000 pts, that is half of your army right there. So it may be fine to just do the 4 bikes with maybe only the one pk. I also run 2 BWs and a squad of lootas. the lootas can take down fliers if you roll a 2 or 3 on their d3. Only shooting at BS1 isnt a big leap for them.
