I ordered a Salamanders LE codex.
Feel like a tiny bit of a fool for paying so much, but there you go
Just wondering how many of these we are accounting for on Dakka alone...

I was tempted to get one, but then thought to myself it's another £35 for a picture, dust jacket, gold edged pages and a piece of green ribbon!. I'll spend the saved money on more marines instead.

You're right, it's a ludicrous increase, I feel suitably ashamed for paying it

Was sorely tempted to get an IF one but after seeing the actual pic I decided it wasn't worth it at the price, especially when I realised that the cover was just an image from the inside of the book.
If I was a Salamander or a UM I may have been tempted but not with that boring IF cover.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I put an Iron Hands one in and out of my basket about five or six times this morning before finally inventing sufficient justification("Well, I was planning to get a Vanguard box, but don't intend to now having seen the sprues, so that kinda sorta almost makes up the difference...." ) and buying it.
However, they've not sent a confirmation email yet and the site has gone bye-bye, so knowing my luck their system will have stayed up just long enough to take money out of my account before crashing and losing my order details

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

I always think of the epic feast i could have at a fancy restaurant instead of plastic crack. not that it's a good use of money either, but i enjoy it more.
actually for the price of the LE you could eat like a king for atleast a couple days.

Yeah they did.
The "Successors" dust jacket is Crimson Fists, but the actual hardcover is Black Templars.
For myself I voted "No--Not interested in Space Marines".
I have my Dark Angels and my Imperial Guard and my Infinity stuff. I have more than enough work for me.

There a 2 versions of that as well. Look like one is simply the printed book in electronic format and the other is "enhanced" with interactive images, audio content, helper tip links to special rules, an a "force manager" app. The enhanced iBook version is kind of intriguing to me. The one problem is I do not want to take an iPad to the game store all the time. I suppose I could always just print out the pages I need to take but that is a bit of a pain too. I will have to think on it a bit.

Anything in a "limited edition" will be more expensive. It's a limited run of 500 of each book for the world, so if you care about those things there's also bragging rights. I don't particularly care about bragging rights. There's a handful of minor features (cover, edging bookmark, certificate, blah blah blah), but nothing like exclusive fluff or anything as far as I know.

Just couldn't justiffy it with the price.
I absolutley love the artwork, and lavish my Crimson Fists with expensive toys, but I'd honestly rather have more of the new kits or more Forge World gear for that price.

The price jump is just too ridiculous. How many models can you buy for the price of "higher quality paper" and a dust jacket that's liable to get ruined or, to protect it, left off entirely?
If they wanted to charge a moderate price increase, that would be one thing. But it's like those ludicrous limited run Black Library Heresy novellas that everyone just ends up pirating copies of. There's no value offered by those LE books aside from some kind of bizarre attachment to a particular color of plastic toy soldiers.
I guess if ti makes people happy, it's good. But that's a fairly odd thing to get excited about. Especially as much as people gripe about the price of models, there's this rush to pay double the price for some... paper.

I can't justify 115 for a book when I could get one for $60 (also outrageous) that has all the same relevant content.
I love black Templars and limited things, but these just aren't worth it to me.
