OK so let me preface this blog with my award winning Ork army was stolen from my parked car in my garage. Gone was over 300 figures and the all important Big Boss Badonk-a-donk(so names by my loving fiance). Details and pictures can be seen here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/30/549915.page#6037867

And let me tell you it would have really, really, really sucked but I had insurance; so it only sucked a lot. I'm rebuilding and this time it's going to be bigger and better! Now on to the fun parts

1:THEME
My last two armies have been snow themed and let me tell you I love snow. I love cool colors, the fall, leaves, and everything snow related. But this time round we will be taking things in a different direction. I'm feeling thirsty, are you? Good cause we are heading to a sandy desert full of cacti, bones on the ground and orks. Lots of ORKS! And to help with this theme we will be using a TON of Kromlech miniatures, bits, and basing options. Now for those of you who don't know Kromlech is a great, maybe the greatest, 3rd party miniature provider in the world for orks. He is located in Poland and runs a great online store at Ebay. If you havnt checked his stuff out, go now! http://www.ebay.com/usr/kromlech.eu

After seeing some of the items he has for sale you'll get an idea of what we are doing here. Orks in shorts, open shirts/jackets, boonie hats, the whole nine yards. The addition of the backpack bits, extra guns, and other do-hickies will really make this force stand out. Thats not to mention an assortment of forgewold items to fill in the gaps. No two orks should look the same here, thats the main rule.

2:FORCES
So to make building this army feesable and fun, it shall be done in parts. This will allow for me to attend tournaments with a fully painted army while still amassing the horde back to what it used to be. So I will be focusing on a Nob biker list at first. Im not here to win, but to have a good time. So bikers at first with a small mob of boys and some Mega Nobs. Stuff that has some visual punch to it. Then as time goes on the focus will shift to more boyz as they get painted and built. Each unit of boys will ave a different unit built and painted in between in as to not drive me crazy. I've painted 90 boys in the past and its not always easy looking at all that bare plastic. No unit gets to go to a tournament before its fully painted and based. Thats rule two. I have enough figures that were not in my car that I can run a werid Ork biker/Space Wolf list right now. Its not much but its something.

3:TUTORIALS All the cool stuff I do will be fully documented with pictures and posts here. Along with that there will be a detailed walk through of how I make and paint my orky army. Ill be highlighting tools from the great microtool company StyleX and how they are a must for any hobbyist. A link to there store is in my signature, check them out. I'll also do my best to answer any questions and assist if anyone gets caught up on any steps. Sorry there are not any images yet as the army has just been ordered. I should get the first shipments in 2 weeks; I mean stuff is coming from Poland. In the mean time Ill get some images up of my Space Wolf Thunder Cav and talk about some basing techniques I use. Secret Miniatures makes some great stuff to really make your bases POP! .

So let me know what you think as we go, post questions, spit ball ideas, and lets get this Waghhh rolling!

Till next time,

Ok so this isnt orks but it still all that remains of my two older armys. I wasnted to show how easy it was to add some jazz to a base using Secret Weapons scale fallen leaves. You can see them here http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13&products_id=578

So for my first little tutorial Ill cover adding them. It really is stupid simple. So much so I didnt both adding images.

Step 1- Tap some of the leaves you want to use out into a small cup/bowl.
Step 2- Using a paint brush paint some acrylic matte medium or acrylic matte/gloss varnish onto your models base. You want to put enough on that it will grab the leaves in the next step. I suggest three patches on a base.
Step 3- Place your figure in the bowl and sprinkle the leaves onto the base. Flip it over and tap off the loose leaves.
Step 4- Take some additional varnish or medium and paint down any leaves that look like they are barley holding on. Let dry.

And thats it! You just made your bases like 150% more cooler and it took literally no effort. The orks are all still in the mail so we'll be waiting a little longer before we start with the orks. Next time Ill cover using a StyleX pinvise correctly and how simple it is to pin a model.

Subscribed. this should be interesting, as I've looked at Kromlech stuff in the past and recently was actually able to hold some of their stuff in my own hands. I really like the looks of their MANZ, but not to keen for some of their gas masks which i'd been looking at for some new burna boyz. So, yeah, i think this will be a very interesting blog to follow.

And we are BACK! Sorry I got kinda busy at work. I was building a velociraptor costume suit as seen here.

http://vimeo.com/75621961

I think thats a cool enough reason to be a little lazy about 40k. And yes that is me inside the suit. Just a day in the life.

In other news most of my goodies have arrived. Im working on getting some pictures of all the boxes but there is an ungodly amount of kits to be built.

My current build list includes 6 Mega Nobz from Kromlech, 2 custom build battle wagons, 9 big guns, and some forge world bikers. I also have a good number of boyz built using a combination of forgeworld heads, kromlech bits, and GW parts. Im working on my color scheme right now. I feel like yellow makes for a really loud and attention grabbing force. Since my old colors where red and blue its a nice change as well. Ill still be doing red highlights here and there but Im staying away from large panels of it. Let me know what you think of it. This model is a FW gas mask head and the torso is a Kromlech pilot. I still have to drill out the gun barrel and add blood splatters to the end of the pipe.

I have also built a FW dakkagun to use as my quad gun. Im still working on the two grots for the platform on the left. Ill update when those are done. This was a test for the bigger models using the yellow scheme. Also testing different basing ideas. I like the red dessert flowers, breaks the large base p

And finally we have the first of my Big Gunz. These are the Krolech Mortar style guns. They are awesome to see in person and a real breeze to put together. Im playing around with use some alcohol based distressing inks to weather with as well. I'm using a deep blue, a dark purple, and a sepia tone; thye are normally used in scrap booking and rubber stamping. You can get some great effects and Ill be posting a tutorial about them once I hammer out some details. The little cacti are also from Kromlech and really add to the basing. Again let me know what you think.

As for the rest of this week and weekend I'm going to do the grot crew members. I also have 3 kannons in the works and some FW nob bikers. Ill keep this thread updated better from now on. Also some tool demos coming soon.

Fox

Kromlech really do amazing scultps. And you paint them well.
Have you tried Spellcrow too?

Edit: I just looked at your stolen army. Oh man, that's just tragic. That army was something to be proud of.
But this one will be even better!
