Just throwing this up to see what people think. The fluff says chased in silver with microscopic writing across the bolter, so that will be in the painting phase. But I wanted to make it suitably ridiculous/Space Marine Primarchy
Just took some pieces I had lying around and threw them together. First time I've really kitbashed in order to make something completely new! What do you all think?

Nice little conversion but it might do with something to set it further apart from a standard Boltgun, such as a drum-mag or extended stock, etc.

Hmmm, I do have a Grenade launcher lying around that I can cannibalize!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Boom! Done. I added an IG Grenade Launcher drum where the Magazine was, and threw the top off a regimental standard on the front of said drum.

It might just be the angle of the picture but i have to be honest. I think that the drum looks too large and a bit misplaced there. I think for a drum magazine that sits below the weapon it is just to large. But if you remodel it so that it wraps around the gun it might look better. Maybe cut a part of the drum away and use this gap to attach it .

Those are smaller magazines so i can't say how it would look for your drum but it should give you a hint of what i mean. (Don't mind the wip shots - the important parts are the weapon drums. )

True, I thought about that quite a bit, but in the end I wanted less of a modified bolter and more of a different type of ammo feed. I'm thinking about coming in with some putty and bulking up the bottom of the gun, so it doesn't look so out of place.

Cleaver use of a grenade launcher.

Would of liked to see you use the master crafted version from the build your own bear kit.

Also could add a scope and make the whole thing gold. with tons of purity seals.

Well from the fluff it's silver with microscopic engraving. I might put a purity seal on it but really I want to keep the sides open for detail work

Cool idea. I'd perhaps try to smooth out the barrel "grip" to make the front look different, or add a second barrel below to make it look different that way.

Perhaps look at some earlier marks and try to make it look like a rarer version of one of these?

If its full of engravings then yeah the master crafted one from the captain kit is perfect base.

Well if I pick up a captains kit I'll try, but that's in the distant future! I am looking at older models trying to figure out some more stuff to do to it. I figure I'll leave him to paint last so I can keep tweaking him.

The command squad box also comes with an ornate bolter as far as i can remember(with additional decorated bitz for cool conversions). But if you just want the ornate bolter maybe a visit to a bitz-shop can help you. (This is what i did)

And just for completion the drum mag i used as well as the scope comes from anvil industries. They do a lot of rather cheap small bits to decorate weapons with. (They also have a lot of alternative space marine parts and weapons.)

Nice conversion. Might have made it a tigrius pattern gun though.

The bolter from the Command Squad or Commander has tiny ingravings. Add a drum mag from a Sternguard bolter...hell, even just a Sternguard bolter at all...and it would be a perfect weapon. I'm personally not a fan of scopes or straps but add as wanted.
