You mean this?

Typically they do 2up & 3up versions of models before making 28mm scale....

That's only for plastic. Metal and resin models are sculpted 1:1.

If that is written in stone, then that Tau will be a plastic mini. Most likely a vehicle mini popping outta a hatch on top....

Or maybe a tau statue similar to the imperial statue of a space marine. It could be in the center of town as the "greater good" reminder Lol

space marine crewed Basilisk...... I think my Iron Warriors are totally in

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

The self propelled artillery with the Earthshaker is a nice idea, but I'm guessing its not the finished model right? The crew look like their plastic, and the Earthshaker itself looks rather aged. The crew compartment's a bit meh in my opinion too, though I guess the sculptor did what they could with it.

Not everything that they show off at Games Day is intended for release. In fact, given GW's reluctance to show off anything more than 3 and a half minutes in advance for fear that the entire wargaming hobby will collapse under the weight of gamer ennui due to our 3-second attention spans and resultant complete inability to remain interested in something for longer than it takes to down an energy drink, pretty much anything that is shown at Games Day these days is either going to be from the next immediate release, already released, or not for release at all. The days of getting sneak peaks at what they are working on are gone.

Going by the rocky base, that Tau is quite clearly a bust, rather than a miniature sculpt. It's most likely just a practice piece for one of the sculptors.

I think that a lot of the stuff that only has one model shown without paint at the event by FW is a WIP. They seem to bring at least one painted version of the finished kit even if it belongs to one of the sculptor's personal armies. I wasn't at the show though so take that as you will. I would imagine that the final version of that tank will look a little more polished when its released.
