I do not steal, good sir!

And I hope to set up a small house in and around that block of stone, if you don't mind too terribly? I won't break anything or intrude upon the survival challenge, is that alright? I'm thinking just prettying up the sides of the cliff, maybe have a little skinny cliff-face house...

If you're talking about the thing you PM'ed me about earlier, that was just a hang, not a crash. They do not affect your inventory. Check your chests to see if you left them somewhere.

dark:
there's a tunnel system underneath the new start area, it links to that big glass tower and mob farm thing, who does that belong to? can we fill it?

also dark, i would appreciate a small "no change zone" around my new cobbler circuit in the start area once it is finished due to my "ez start" cobbler requiring like 4 stacks of redstone 20+ repeaters and a 20 pistons >.>

The spawn area is the only area that is not editable by non-admins. I can't change that without mods.

In Beta multiplayer, rather than spawning on top of a single spawn block, players will instead spawn on top in a spawn area of around 20x20 tiles. The spawn area along with a 13 tile border is classed as a protected area, this means non-operator players cannot place or destroy blocks in this protected area nor can they use doors or Redstone devices. Creepers can still destroy terrain in the protected area and TNT placed outside of the protected area will destroy surrounding blocks as usual. The protected area is 46x46 tiles and the spawn area(20x20 tiles) is in the center of this area.

(emphasis mine). We should try a basic restone circuit first (switch outside the spawn area, mechanics inside?) to see if it's as bad as it sounds.

The mob farm has ShivanAngel's name on it, not sure about the lava/glass thing. I'll look at the tunnels next time I'm on, we could always just re-route them to neighbouring tunnels.

That's one thing that needs to be fixed, is that the transportation system is horribly tangled, and nearly impossible to navigate.

Might want to settle on a single type of road (one that protects from mobs, either through elevation, walls, or sufficient lighting that mobs won't spawn too close) and name the main thorofairs, keeping signs on all the crossroads and every-so-often otherwise, so you always know where you are. Maybe mark them out like American State Routes, where it's marked Route 101 N if you're heading north, and 101S if you're heading south, etc.

Well my current plan was to have sticky pistons pull the "pass" block out of the timer then put it back in to reset the timer after the chunk was unloaded.
turns out that normal pistons cant steal the block from the sticky piston, so its back to the drawing board on how to do this.

edit, nix that I made a simplier, one tick clock system using inveterators to cycle the pistons that works almost as fast and can be reset with a button.

so i have my castle walls finished, i also added my inner automatic gate for limited protection. i have now started to work on the inside of my castle. i figured it was easier to plan the rooms without having the floors or roof on.

so far i added a barracks with dining area, training room (complete with combat dummy) sleeping quarters and a armory. i accidentally set fire to the barracks when i put the smithing section of the armory in. im not really happy with this area as i used lots of half wood slabs and its a problem decorating with them.

i added my master dining area with fire places at each end, a large wood table and some chairs.

i am currently working on a library with secret bookshelf passageway to the castle tower.

ok i have been doing some research on redstone wiring and im lost. i want my bookcase door to open via pressure plate as its not as noticable. because i have hidden the real plate among false plates in my library maze i need the door to stay open so i can make my way back to it and pass through and close it on the other side. i am just learning redstone wiring and i think this might be beyond me.

Yeh the pulse from the plates is timed so you'll have to use repeaters to try and slow it while it powers the piston. The next trick is that you'll have to invert the power so that the pistons stay on all the time and the pulse from the plates actually turns them off. Then simply wire it to the plates.

Not as hard as it would be if you used levers instead.

You might want to consider a flip-flop. When you hit the first pressure plate the door would open. You would have to walk across the same plate (or one on the other side of the door) to trigger the flip-flop again to close the doors.

Do a search for "minecraft flip flop door" and you should be able to find some examples and instructions.

I have a bookcase door using pistons that opens and closes via a button (similar to a floor plate in practice). It is possible, but very difficult to explain using just text. Biccat's link there is great for some more compact circuit designs than the one I'm using but wow does it just hit you with wall-of-text o_o. That's great if you're some electrical engineer, but an easier option will be to search for videos that show the circuits working and then you get an easier understanding of what's going on and what makes them tick.

Get a Yellow Pages sparky to explain it to you!

"Ooooh, well, you see here? You 'aint got the right parts for that, they'd be special order see, so it'd take a while for 'em to come in and it'd cost a bit more. I'd also have to re-wire everything 'cos the work 'ere is just rubbish, you get cowboy jobs like this a lot, and they end up costing more to fix than they would've to do prop'ly in't first place. You're looking really at new repeaters, new wires, a new plate, new inverters..." *sharp intake of breath* "Gunna cost a bit though, 'bout <insert HUUUUGELY inflated sum here> for the basic stuff, and about <insert yet another HUUUUUGELY inflated sum here> for 'em specialist parts. It's expensive, but it's the cost for not having your house burn down from bad 'lectricals."
