Our most recent completed army project,

***Note I forgot to drill gun barrels before photos, for some reason I always do it last... they were drilled so do not worry!!!

What does everyone think? Like? Dislike?

Army shot!

Command squad fully done up! added freehand to captain and Azrael

All the vets in their blended robes! Took awhile but I think it was worth the time!!

Tacticals, simple yet glorious, but boring if the vets and command squad didnt break up all that green!!!!

Devastator squads, lots of las/plas!

Its not a very exciting army as its very stock I know, and just marines... but I believe we managed to spice it up with some quality paint!

Im not sure if the lighting has something to do with it but those have to be the best DA I have ever seen. Cant exactly put my finger on why the green looks far less "static" than most DA and the red on the weapons dosent look too glaring. The blue eyes and OSL also makes a nice change from the normal red. Very nice indeed.

Great looking Dark Angels. Personnally the green on the armor seems to light green. Otherwise everything looks totally cool.

Ya I find the DA greent o be too dark alongside the beige robes so I lightened the green a bit!

As for the robes and everything, its making sure the lighting was good(painted light not lamp light) by doing this I created a natural feel to them and helped draw attention to their heads and keep it off their feet!

The colours are very simple, but not too saturated so it was easier to blend and it meant the colours worked well together

One thing though - how could you do such an amazing job on the paint and yet not take the time to drill out the bolter barrels?! D:

The colors are excellent. I love the muted green that you've used, although I prefer Dark Angels to be a little darker.

Damn, these are amazing! The banner is stunning, I love the simplicity of the headswap on the captain (totally transforms the model) and the colours are, as others have said, perfect. 10/10

Incredibly smooth and clean. Loving the desaturated palette, too. One thing confuses me, though - the inconsistency in the feet. The highlights on the bulk of the green armor are decidedly warm, but some models have very cool - almost turquoise - edges on their feet (and legs, in a few cases). Like this guy:

Tweaking color temperature between light and shadow isn't uncommon, but I've never seen it done between highlights on different areas, unless there is another assumed light source. With all of your OSL effects being so localized, that doesn't feel like the case. Just find it a little visually jarring, as niggling a point as that is. Still a jaw-dropping effort, all around.

@oadie, good catch! the banners guys feet are certainly wrong compared to the rest of the command squad!!

However the object of the cool highlights, is to create a sense of depth in the lighting, by doing that it forces your eye to focus on the upper portion of the miniature where all the action is, and in this case the lower half is mostly shadowed on them all anyways.

Thanks everyone! We wont have another marine army for a little while, however we have some chaos coming up and privateer press after that. Oh maybe some more marine characters.
