I'll be really upset if they don't fight some sentinels.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Looks pretty good, although it's hard to glean much from that trailer. I just hope that it isn't as wolverine-centric as the original trilogy. I mean, he's had 2 solo films and starred in 3 more, it's time to give someone else a chance. From the trailer, though, he does seem to feature pretty prominently as the guy linking the two timestreams.

All in all, it should be pretty interesting.

Sweet. Based on one of the better graphic novels in the X-Men legacy my brother tells me. I've not been a fan of most of the X-Men movies, but this one could bring me around. Liked First Class and the Original, other then that not a fan... hope this one goes well.

So can someone set me straight on the movie timeline?

This is a sequel to First Class and X-2 right?

So was the new Wolverine basically a sequel to X-2 for Wolverine?

And does that mean that god aweful X-men 3 movie can just be burned?

And does that mean Cyclops is alive? Honestly, I hated Cyclops in the first two X-men movies (he was a whiney girly dude) but at the beginning of 3 when he finally has a reason to hard up they killed him. And if 3 doesn't exist they have the chance to hard him up into a quality leader again!

is the comic storyline

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_Days_of_Future_Past

movie one ...

Days of Future Past acts as a sequel to both 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand and 2011's X-Men: First Class, as well as a follow-up to 2013's The Wolverine,

so it's both a sequel and a prequel at the same time

.. and they say these things are for kids eh ?!

Damn, Cyclops is still dead and the third movie is still cannon in this universe....Oh well, it was probably to much to hope.

Still excited about it. Really, really enjoyed First Class so hopefully this handles everything just as well.

The new Wolverine movie was definately a direct sequel to X-Men 3.

Anyway, I'm excited about Days of Future Past.

Tyrion Lannister, I mean, Peter Dinklage is heavily rumored to be the guy who invents the sentinels.

So, if this is set after the events of that giant clusterfeth that was X-3...
a. How in the fething hell is Xavier even alive?!! (cause you know, being blown into a small ash cloud by Dark Phoenix isn't really something you just 'get over')
b. How does Magneto get his powers back? I mean, sure at the very end of that steaming turdfest we see him budge the chess piece, but that's a far cry from throwing everything metal about like kiddie play.

This is also rumored to be Huge Jackman's last go as Wolverine.

A- he did jump bodies at the end- so he shouldn't be Sir Patrick Stewart, but X is still out there. Unless, of course, he clones himself.
B- That chess piece implies that the cure is temporary, and in time all mutants will regain their powers. Or that Magneto is too metal for any namby-pamby cure, and will throw it off like he usually bench presses battleships with his mind.

I can't deny that this looks pretty cool, but my worry comes in the form of this story getting very tangled and confused. Time travel is not an easy thing to make a coherent story out of, and let's not kid ourselves, comics are not known for their rigid adherence to continuity.

So I think this will be a decent flick, I'm not sure if it'll be all that legible, so to speak.

One can only hope they keep the amount of Halle Barry screen time to the absolute bare minimum... (personally, if any of the X-men have to die in this one, just do away with her!)

I could see it being Jackmans last go. God knows what that guy has to do to get in shape for these roles. It's the same reason the Cap and Thor characters don't really look forward to filiming the Avenger Movies.

I'm pretty excited for this. I've really enjoyed the X-Men movies, except for X-3. Well, and if the Wolverine movies count as X-Men movies then I didn't like those very much either.

But the first and second films and First Class were all really enjoyable, and hopefully this will continue along those lines.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

X-3 sucked, Wolverine Origins sucked, the rest were great (although Liev and Hugh did do an awesome job in WO, it's not their fault the movie was a bomb). I think the movie will work fairly well, and marvel has a good grasp on how time travel works IN THEIR UNIVERSE. Those last three words are important. They have a good grasp on Bishop, Cable, and other acts of time travel and things haven't gotten too convoluted. I say bring it on.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I'm hopeful mainly because they are getting the original band (X-Men, X-Men 2) back together again, though I would like to see the Sentinels in action at some point.

I think I'm the only person who liked X3. I did like First Class quite a bit, but only because of Fassbender. Get Fassbender breaking things in the same movie as McKellan breaking things and Captain Picard breaking things (or making a nice singing rendition aka SNL) and I am in that seat with booze and popcorn baby. Forget everything else.

Give me Fassbender, Picard, and McKellan all in the same Shakespeare play and I'd scream like a giddy school girl.

Wasn't Wolverine (and every other member of the main cast) dead in the comic? I guess that would be too far a stretch for the film's writers (and too depressing for the audience), but still, that was one of the better parts of the comic. Hey, if this is Jackman's last film we may still get Wolverine's "shot by a Sentinel's laser until all that's left of him is his adamantium skeleton" death scene at least. That bit was great.

It is set after The Wolverine, all the previous films are canon for it. After the credits of Wolverine, there is a scene that sets the film up, the time travelling part then goes back to just after first class.
