Dental plaster is pretty durable stuff. It can survive falls fro mthe gaming table...sometimes

Yes seems a lot of people use dental plaster I just like the finish you get with resin plus you can cut it easily, from working with Linka moulds as a kid I remember cutting plaster with disastrous results and it easily chips.

Maybe I will try it and see what the results are like though.

Played a bit with Dental plaster, it depends a bit on your mix, I made the mistake of mixing it with PVA and water and some aggregate, it was so solid it could not be cut, I mean literally, it was absolutely solid, tried a hacksaw and it blunted the blade.

But it is great if you use it normally.

1KG goes miles, it says mix 100g to 28ml, but I water it further down so it pours easier, takes a little longer to set but works great.

Yeah, plaster of Paris and Dental stone are NOT the same thing. Dental doesn't leave powder everywhere. It can be sanded and cut if needed.

Right will give it go then not bad price, plus I need to build some Apoc style buildings for back drops so should double for that.

Cool of it can be cut and sanded means I will be able to do what I need with it, what's the drying time like for this ?

Forget the drying time just reread the article 30mins damn that's quicker than I thought.

so, here are the results with only the salt removed, not bad, but there is much more damage to do...

I also accidentally left scratches, but I can work with that

OH!..and...IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP: salt is like mold lines, you only find them once you post the pic to Dakka

It does give a nice blistery look in places.

not bad effect mind and good choice of rust colour

Oh yeah, "Public works" green, so prevalent all over things in my youth back in NY. Benches, light poles, handrails, girders, etc.

And yes, that is the government green all faded and covered in dust and cigarette residue.
