Say 3 squads of dev centurions, and then just deathwing termies marching up the field? I think it would be a lot more competitive with say 3 squads with grav guns, and the seargent with las/missles and an omniscope.

warhammer 40k mmo. If I can drive an ork trukk into the back of a space marine dread and explode in a fireball of epic, I can die happy!

Yes, but deathwing only uses terminator armour.

-edit-
What are centurions deepstrike capabilities?

I had thought just recently how it might make for an interesting addition to the Deathwing fluff if they used Centurions in a role as "Devastator" Terminators to balance out the "Tactical" and "Assault" variety that already exist.

Though it would probably be far better (and simpler) if the Dark Angels were simply allowed a special Deathwing Terminator squad entry that was Heavy Support, and which would include a larger number of Terminators to be equipped with heavy weapons. So for instance you could field a Sergent and 4 Cyclone Launchers. I'm honestly not sure why something like that it hasn't appeared yet.

It would also give a nice alternative for ranged tank-busting to just using the standard Dreadnought.

That ^ Dakka banner centurions hehe.

I think the reason they don't have a sort of 'heavy weapons' deathwing squad is that, frankly, deathwing are not the backbone of a Dark Angels army in a tactical sense. They have regular devastators for that duty. Deathwing are supposed to get in close, shoot, and punch and take down the hard targets while the regular marines do what regular marines do. This is just poorly translated on the tabletop sometimes. It would be very rare to see more than a few deathwing present in a battle the size of a regular 1500-2000 point skirmish I think.

I believe that the banner's rules specifically apply to Dark Angels. If not, then I am gonna be getting some psybolt ammo Inquisition LRCs haha.

At least this would be a cool use for the Allies rules for a change. Just paint them as "Deathwing", and say that "your" version of the Deathwing includes them as a Heavy Support unit.

Deathwing are fighting a war that battlebrothers outside the first company would not know about. The risk that some devastator marine gets a glimpse of a fallen is reason enough for deathwing heavy weapon squads.

Id say it would be very likely for a deathwing assault to happen in a 1500 to 2000 pt range. Id guess that any more than one fallen would see the deployment of more than 30 terminators.

Centurions are really overrated just because they are either expensive, or they are expensive and short ranged.

I would much rather see DA get actual useful additions like point drops or a less unwieldy and more universally useful unit than simply adding in Centurions. Think more stuff like PFGs or the Banner of Devastation. The new Inquisition supplement is a big boost as well.

Centurions can't even Deep Strike or Drop Pod.

Hail the Emperor.

Didnt most Dark Angel things already receive a points drop from 4th ed codex to the current 6th ed one?

Imagine the fun of having a Terminator squad with 4 plasma cannons or 4 cyclone launchers. That's what I think Deathwing should get, and I was fully expecting it in the last codex.

Most things, but Deathwing stayed the same or became more expensive.
