Take a first glimpse at Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf in the official announcement trailer! Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf will blend the grim, dark Warhammer 40,000 universe, collectable cards and turn-based tactical combat and will be free to play. The game is coming in Q2 2014 and is expected on iOS, Android, PC and other platforms.
This looks like it could be real fun to play on the train.
Free to play... I've asked how they are making money on their facebook page.
I'm not interested though if it's rammed full of IAP... I hate Freemium games.
Panic...

How will you be making money?
I hate Freemium games loaded with IAP and stay away from games based on those.
I'd prefer to just buy the game...

No answers?
It's better to engage with potential customers, I don't think games are ever free, but I'm ok with paying one off 69p or £2.99...
I never play games with ongoing costs.

And they replied.

And then I said my bit about not liking IAP...
The problem with this is I'm not interested in games that will make me work hard for ingame cash.
I just want to play games without grinding away to unlock stuff.
I buy lots of 69p - £2.99 games, but before I buy them the first think I check is if there is IAP and what kind of IAP are on the list, if i see anything that looks like 69p for 1000creds I instantly pass on the game.
IAP type games seem just greedy. Right now this is not for me. If you change your mind and decide to make a regular normal game, feel free to message me and let me know.

So at this point I'm no longer interested...
Which is a shame as I like both 40k and enjoyed metal gear solid acid.
I'm surprised an entire card game can be made with just Space Wolves. Well, presumably they'll have some adversaries in there but it must be a darn small card game if the wolves are the only protagonists. That's only going to be like... what, 20-30 character/troop cards for the main protagonist side?
Wonder how much RL $$$ Bjorn or Leman Russ's cards will cost.

Hi, I am Oleg Snisarenko, creative director on Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf.
I understand your worries, but you know everything changes and so do free-to-play games. There are lots of f2p games without annoying ads and money-grubbing in-app purchases. We have a small team of developers and each of us loves the 40k universe, be sure we want to make a game that will be fun to play for everyone. That means we want it to be available for everyone (free-to-play) and to have mild monetization model.
By the way I think it is not the best idea to judge about what is living at the bottom of the pond watching the ripples on the water.
Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the game, if you have any.

Space Wolves are able to use ~40 weapon types. Multiply it with different weapon models, ammo types, attachments like scope, blade attachment, etc. Add here various actions, support devices, other epic things like orbital strike and so we get hundreds of cards with multiple levels that is not really small card game.

Tastes more like X-Com or Metal Gear: Acid with a slight Hearthstone aftertaste.

Nope, you cannot buy cards.

I love Space Wolves I just hate their 40k armor color ,I prefer them grey Pre Heresy style

Since I get to ask to someone with actual power on a 40k game :
Why boring Space Marines again ? Why not Sisters, for a change ?
"Our fantasy settings are grim and dark, but that is not a reflection of who we are or how we feel the real world should be. [...] We will continue to diversify the cast of characters we portray [...] so everyone can find representation and heroes they can relate to. [...] If [you don't feel the same way], you will not be missed"

Because they want the game to be popular.
Well, Sisters could be popular... Not quite as Space Wolves for sure.
Anyway, this looks amazing, my only problem is i dont have a good Android/Ipad...
There is anyway to emulate stuff like that in PCs?
If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...
My take on Demiurgs (enjoy the reading):

It is not on our plan to add any other chapters to the game, but who knows maybe we'll add a grey armor.

Hey, Space Wolves are not boring at all imo and I have to admit gossipmeng is right. By the way half year ago when we were deciding what would be the game we want to make our first thought was "Turn-based game featuring assasins of Officio Assassinorum", but later we decided to make a game about Space Wolves (as one of the most extraordinary chapter).

Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf will be released on PC too. A bit later than iOS version, but it will definitely happen in 2014.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

When you're finished with Space Wolf, please make this assassins game, as it sounds totally awesome.

But we already know what is living at the bottom of the pond - Games Workshop is living at the bottom of the pond... and where there is GW, there is a rather large hole in our collective wallets.
Personally, I don't think for a second that anything that has the blessing to use GW IP could ever use the word "free" without a very large disclaimer.
Is the game not strong enough to stand alone as generic space soldiers with generic space guns and generic orbital bombardments?
If "mild monetization" is going to cover the licensing fees then I wish you all the best - you couldn't have piggybacked a better IP for people to blindly throw money at.
