I have been working on converting a vendetta and it is coming along nicely. Here is how it looks so far.

I had someone suggest that I add more mutations such as a spine sticking out of the back. This sounds like a great idea, but I have no idea how to construct one out of greenstuff. Has anyone done something like this before or seen a guide for making exposed bones? I have seen a few models with exposed spines (Hellbrute, FW GUO), but has anyone seen any others?

Making a spine is relatively easy:
Make a green stuff sausage, press it on to the model, use a sculpting tool to cut bands into the sausage - these will be the sections of the spine.
Then, with wet fingers to avoid finger prints, pinch the middle of each section & pull up. Once dry lay a rolled out strip along each side and blend onto the hull.
Try to make the other edge of the flap ragged.
Here's a picture of a dinosaur spine to give you an idea of what I mean:

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

There are a few Tyranid spikey bits that could also probably be used to good effect.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Wow, thanks for the response! Slayer I am impressed by your greenstuff work. I will be trying this out in the next couple of days.

Its a mold i made from the old Khorne Icon that FW did a few years back.

And yes i suspect the guy who sculpted the icon to be a IronMaiden fan.

So I have completed my spine and I am pretty please with how it turned out.

And here is how everything looks with the the completed spine.
