Hey all!

Was just thinking about all the times I've tried using supposedly powerful units, and ended up failing spectacularly. And consistently.
So I was wondering, what models do you possess that are in theory quite powerful or useful, but always somehow end up screwing you over?

Mine would be good ol' Abaddon!
In 5th he truly earned his nickname "failbaddon" when in a game against orks, he deepstruck in with a unit of 10 tzeentch termies, helped shoot at the rear armour of a trukk (doing nothing to it), and then in the Ork's turn, he and his whole unit died to one round of five burnas' shooting.

I was rather phobic of him until 6th ed, where I thought that the odds were on my side! He had gotten a small boost in the CSM dex, and I was feeling fairly confident.
And it happened. Again. Death by incompetent burnas, in the exact same way.

I next used him in a lulzy friendly game of "Zombie survival". The zombies were the same as the ones i the CSM dex, except that they must always move towards the closest enemy.
Things were going well, until Abby got into melee with five of them. He only killed one of them. And then was beaten to death by the rest.

After that I stopped bothering :|

I dont think iv had a cursed model. but i do have cursed dice.


My yellow Imp fist dice rolled soo many 1s its not even funny.

My Heldrake is cursed.

It never gets damaged during a match, but it always manages to lose a limb before it reaches the table. Lost a wing the first time, a foot the second. It's base separated on the third go. #firstworldcsmproblems

My Vendettas. They never do anything worthwhile and they always get shot down.

I decided to use Lelith in a game this past weekend. She had been shelved for over a year. So I thought what the heck.

She started in a venom with 4 wracks. Round 1, venom is dropped by a group of bikers which takes out two of the wracks. My return fire eliminates all of the bikers except one which manages to stick around. Meanwhile Lelith gets in charge range of the last one.

Round 2 remaining wracks are wiped out. Lelith charges the biker and gets insta killed from plasma during overwatch.

She has great stats but this made me remember why I haven't used that model in games in a long time.

Does an entire army of bikes count? ._.

Everytime I take my dreadnought it gets popped for first blood by lootas and only lootas. They are the only thing that has ever killed my dreadnought and always for first blood.

Storm ravens! Every....single......time!

I've proxies them as storm talons and as storm eagles, they did fine, but whenever I use them as ravens, they're awful, can't shoot for

Not so much any specific model, but I am convinced that the newly-painted model's first game is always a bad game.

My Necron Monolith has a bad history of performance.

Not sure why, I always insert it right where its size and strength will best serve, but it never lasts long and hasn't racked up a particularly high kill count.

I wish I had a measly unlucky MODEL, but instead, my whole rolling ARM is cursed!

With my rolls, melta rarely hits, and rerolls make the earlier rolls look good!

Terminator armour saves, I will generally roll 50% 1s.

In my early days, my Dread would always go down to Rokkit-Coptas in the first round.

Any model that's been freshly painted.

Balthasar the company master from dark vengance, after his first four games of dying turn one (on one lucky occasion he lasted until 2) i have now chucked him in a box and never intend on using him again. ever.

Any squad/group with a special/heavy weapon that fires one shot that I'm relying on to take pressure off my Marines. Example: Meltaguns. They NEVER work for me. I have one model in particular that has fired over 20 shots of melta, and hit once. But then in the ONE game they were fielded, my Devastator squad can put out 6 HB rounds, and 2 frag missiles(getting 6 wounds, direct hits on target) and generate 9 kills.

Longstrike, the codex says you hit on a two plus...yet the model always makes me role ones...

Strangely, my worst model is sometimes my best. And that is my Multi-Melta attack bike. He either does amazing things or fails spectacularly. 9/10 times he fails to do any damage with his melta. It either misses entirely or hits and doesn't pen or hits, pens, and then get s a 1 on damage. It always has me screaming "It's your one job! YOUR ONE JOB, and you ^&%$ed it up again!!"

Conversely, he is responsible for insta gibbing multiple ICs and getting line breaker multiple times. Haha.

In terms of bad luck I would say it would be my Sammael model. He has broken a total of 4 times now I think, including being sat on, dropped on hard tile, and rolling around a moving vehicle... don't ask... He is easily the most patched-up model I own. He now sports a green-stuff base, heavily glued bike segments, and multiple patchy paint corrections... I rarely field him due to his frankenstein monster status now... sigh...

I have a Defiler that has paid his points back in one game of the seven or so games i have used him and he has now been named "the unlucky one" by my gaming group.

There also seems to be a trend in our group that whenever a new model or unit is used for the first time it does abyssmally.

Terminators with Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields.

I can shrug off lascannon shots but I fail to save small arms fire like it's my job. Consequently the models are in the display case at the FLGS. It was that or I throw them in the middle of the street.

Anything painted. They always roll ones.

Land Raider Redeemer. Every time I run one, it gets blown up in the first turn. If I was Ric Flair, Flamestorm Cannons would be my top rope move.

I have a cultist I have named "Sir Roberto The Unhidden" I painted his clothes bright red after I noticed that he is ALWAYS the first one off the board. (It is the one with the big coat and a beakie like head)

My melee Crusader squad. A five man unit that I use to camp on objectives near or in my deployment zone. They always survive until the last two turns then just get wiped out by the least threatening shooting attacks (a single rapid firing boltgun and two stormbolters once killed 4 of them). The one time they worked was when my friend tried taking their objective with a guardsmen platoon minus command squad. Between their chainswords and flamer they killed enough to put the rest to flight. Even then they were then swiflty blown to pieces by a HWS and a plascannon sentinel.

I don't use them much now, but back in my 5th edition BA list my Assault Squads had two meltaguns and they always missed.

My Devildog, every time i set up a trap to take out a group of necrons with their warlord. I hit it with a russ first then with the small blast. last time it scattered and hit my company command squad.....

If my SM captain is used as a basic SM captain, he can take down other units quite well.

If I use him as a proxy for Sicarius however, he always dies or does absolutely nothing.

ALL combi-meltas and meltaguns. Rolling ones isn't funny anymore.

My heldrakes. They miss on their vector strike, opponents save versus their baleflamer attacks, then a grot with a pistol somehow does a penetrating hit. I have probably killed the models cost in other models with them.

Yeah, my bikes never ever make it. Neither do my Zerkers, or my Chosen, or my Helbrute... or any sort of HQ I take...

All my "good" models always get waxed, but that's mostly just cuz my buddies target the hell out of them when we play.

"Oh look, he brought the Helbrute! This should be easy!" And then they pop the stupid thing with one shot. Same thing with everything else.

You could call it a curse if you like...

My Deffdred. I usually take it as it's a great model and I'm pleased with the paint job... But it waddles across the table for one or two turns and then dies to someone being bored enough to shoot it.



Except the one time a few years ago, it held up a tooled up Daemon Prince for 4 turns, that was funny. But mostly it just dies.
