I recently had a very interesting life experience that changed my view on a lot of things.
Up until now I assumed lots of things about other people based on what they displayed on there walls/themselves/there other belongings. I would assume someone might be an conservative based on having a Texas flag on there car, or someone would be a tea partier if they have a confederate flag on their house.
I was recently flirting with a girl when I mentioned my room at home is pretty bare, and one of the two things I have for decoration is a Soviet Red Army flag and a Civil War Union flag.
The next day she came and told me her parents told her she shouldn't talk to political extremists like filthy communists
So now I guess Ill think twice before judging now. Still, I really like my antique Red Army flag.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

It's pretty natural to judge, first impressions and all that jazz. Her family just sounds a little bit wacko... unless you were monologuing about communism?

..
dating sure has changed since I was young.
We just used to invite people in " for coffee" or something.
Still guess I now know what I've been doing wrong all these years.

I didn't talk to her at all about communism, but I did explain I liked it because I was interested in the Eastern Front of WW2
I got the flag from a trip to Russian, my dad met several Russian general when he worked at nato, and when I met one the general found out I was interested in WW2. So he gave me the flag he was given by his father who fought in the war.

Well as a child I always played the soldiers who inform the King about Jesus in our church's nativity plays so I guess Iv just been destined to be a evil villain all along eh?

Were you attempting to sleep with this girl?
Being a Nerd is now "Cool" at my school, so since revealing my history knowledge and the fact I wargame (Something so nerdy even the DnD club at our school looks upon my Caiphas Cain books with puzzlement) Iv gotten a lot of girls who constantly barrage me with questions.
I once had a girl make me explain to her the entire plot of Gaunts Ghosts, she is now an avid reader of Dan Abnett's works

As someone that has not sat down and absorbed the entirety of the original star trek episodes (I was a TNG fan, albeit a slight fan), I had to google that reference.

Kind of enjoying the irony that one assumed that people would get that reference in this particular thread.

I do not put my life on display for others to see and judge. I don't think there is one person in this world who actually knows anything about me besides the lies I fabricate to make my existence seem less pathetic.
I don't judge people, because most people are lying sociopaths, so there's no reason to make opinions of them based on what your first impression is.

God good man you're in college !
This is the only time of your life you'll have to dedicate to crappy and/or obscure Tv shows and movies, mediocre soap operas ad staying up far too late for no apparent reason.
Instead you're wasting your time with studies and talking to women and ..errr..... oh hang on a minute....

Having a confederate flag on your wall doesn't make you a Tea Partier; but it generally does imply that you're an immoral person.

When I was in college, my walls had the following on display: USAF flag, USMC flag, US Navy flag, US Army flag, Soviet Flag, Imperial Russian flag (yellow w/ double-headed eagle), Imperial German flag (WW1 era, White with black cross w/ eagle in center, red/black/white tricolor w/ iron cross in upper left)
