Subject: Battle of the Cheddar! Jetlock Council vs Screamerstar! 2000 Pts
I realized I had all the necessary models to run both a Jetlock council and Screamerstar, and so decided to do a 2k game to see who could best each other. Note: Pic quality is subpar at best because the pics were taken on my iTouch
Rules: No Escalation/Stronghold Assault. I want to see these deathstars face each other, not get blown up by a big D!
Mission: Dawn of War, Crusade Primary(3 Obj), Relic Secondary
EDIT: I have had to simply link the pics to photobucket, and apologize for any inconvenience. I'll get this sorted for the next batrep! Also, thanks to jy2 for the help, this batrep's formatting will be fairly similar to his formatting.
Armies:
Eldar
Spoiler:
Farseer: Bike, Shard Executioner, Doom, Fortune
Farseer: Bike Executioner, Doom, Death Mission
10 Warlocks: Bikes Conceal/Reveal(2), Protect/Jinx(3), Empower/Enervate(3), Embolden/Horrify(2)
So in short, the Eldar rolled all 6 on Runes of Fate and failed to get Fortune. The battle wouldn't be much of a battle without Fortune, so I randomized which Farseer got Fortune. But that still meant no Divination, no Guide etc. Ouch!
Daemons on the other hand landed 3 Misfortunes, 2 Forewarning, Endurance/Invisibility on Fateweaver, and Precog on the Grimoire Herald!!!
Eldar Warlord Trait: Warlord is Scoring!
Daemon Warlord Trait: Reroll Warpstorm Table
Daemons have First Turn
They all have Jink, and the Warlocks Primaris Power is Conceal, which adds 2 to the cover save, becoming a 3+. Baron adds stealth to the unit, so the unit has a 2+ cover save.
The Warlocks can also roll a 4 on the Runes of Battle, which is Protect(which in this battle I rolled 3 times!). It adds one to the units armor save. Since Eldar Jetbikes confer a 3+, Protect turns this into a 2+.
All the Warlocks and Farseers come with a 4++
Farseer rolls on Runes of Fate hoping for Fortune(Rerolls all saving throws and Deny the Witch).
The powers combined means a 2+ armor, 2+ cover, and 4++, all rerollable

Hmm...they are showing up on my computer? Anyone else having a problem with this? If so I can reattach in a different way

The Eldar deathstar is kinda underwhelming. I guess it downgrades the bat-gak 2++ rerollable to a still formidable save, in exchange for being able to shoot and stuff

I think the misfortunes will rule the day, forcing a re-roll of succesfull saves on the Eldar will negate their fortune re-roll. Then it's all about eating the fairly weak eldar troops. Unless a lucky shot somehow snipes the grimoire holder out of the star.

I don't get my when playing a Seer Star at least 1 Farseer doesn't take Runes of Warding. There is over 600pts in that single unit, which could be taken down fairly easily if Misfortune goes off. The same for other such powers that are really annoying such as hallucinate and horrify that really could put a spanner in the works. Those extra 10pts could save you from any one of these spell be giving you at LEAST a 3+ deny vs a level 4 psyker, I simply cannot understand why people don't pay the points for the eventuality.

I don't see JetSeer Council in the same league as ScreamerStar. What am I missing and why is it so strong in the current meta? I know it's really good but I have never played against it.
It's strong because the 2+ rerollable but also because it has Hit&Run and always wounds on 2s in combat. That and the smattering of extra powers from the Farseers and Warlocks means they can usually malediction the crap out of stuff

For reasons as listed below. It's probably better in the hands of a skilled player.
