Looks like the Stormlance Battle Demi-Company is the Salamander special strikeforce inside their special "decurion" is the Flameblade Strike Force which includes a new formation "Flamebringers".

I don't think we know everything yet.

So this basically confirms that the detachments are the Anvil Strike Force (which is all vehicles), Talon Strike Force, Scarblade Strike Force, and the Sternhammer Strike Force (they could have been lying like they did in the past in WD). The eleven Kauyon formations and the Skyhammer Annihilation Force leaves room for two more formations. One is probably a unique Battle Demi-Company for Imperial Fists by that isn't a guarantee. Ultimately we know most everything the book has now.

Your missing the Sallies strike Force, which makes me think we'll see an IH strike force as well.

I wonder if when they say *New* they aren't including the RG and WS stuff.

I feel like there may be more to this than we though, yeah. Maybe not all of the stuff from kauyon will be in the book?

Why would Imperial Fists need a unique demi-company? They're as codex-adherent as Ultramarines.
I don't know if they need one, but they said they are getting one. So if they don't, GW lied. I could see them having a detachment that has auxiliaries that play to their strengths, such as a non-formation Aux made of Centurion War Suit squads.

Detachments don't count towards the Formation counts, and all it says there is that there is a "Sons of Dorn Sternhammer Strike Force". You can see there that there's two things listed under Core for the Sternhammer Strike Force, but you can't really read it.

That is certainly possible too. It does look like some of the auxiliaries for the Sallies are a nice mix of Gladius, Talon, and Scarblade auxiliaries. I am hoping that the Imperial Fist one does as well (though as long as I have 1st Company Task Force I am good).

Kanluwen, thanks for straightening me out on the Detachment thing, I was getting concerned.

How do I make it a week though?

all I really care about is the Sternhammer (which is suspiciously said to be for the Sons of Dorn, which would include Black Templars and Imperial/Crimson Fists). As long as everyone else gets their detachment too, I am good.

It looks like the first Core choice, by the by, is a Centurion Siegebreaker Cohort.

Is anyone else annoyed that the benefit of the anvil strikeforce is redundant on its only two core choices?

two that I saw-

A vehicle within the formation can be the warlord. If it is, it gains a warlord trait where-by it can nominate a vehicle within 24'' of it to shoot twice.

And, vehicles in the formation ignore crew shaken and crew stunned. Which the landraider spearhead already does when within 6'' of another landraider, and which the armoured taskforce already does when within 6'' of a techmarine.

Huge tactical benefit there...

Good thing the army consists of more than two Core choices?

So hey, it looks like the Warhammer World exclusive "Command Tanks" are in. Wonder if that means general release soon?

so, on the psychic powers, anyone else prepared to laugh if the powers other than Veil of Tears are kinda ass? Yeah Viel is strong, but Invisibility would be seen a lot less if it where in the telekinesis tree where every other power is basically worthless. Same thing might be true here. Lets wait and see what the rest do before we assume that SM got even better (though it wouldn't surprise me if the new lores are playable, and even op at times.)
I am fully prepared to see that. I don't really have much use for Veil of Time because a 2+ Rerollable Armor Save is still easily passed by AP2 (which is stupidly too common). Veil really only shines on Invulnerable saves.

Well, on a basic terminator it might make them playable. 2+ re-roll vs. anything AP3+ is pretty invulnerable, and even the humble 5++ turns into something vaguely acceptable when you get to roll it twice. It’s not unstoppable deathstar level of survivable, but decent.

This is awesome you are correct except for that one game where you can't roll viel of tears for the life of you and you are stuck with a full squad of basic terminators taking up 600+ points of your list and no where near as strong as you thought. If you can get it garaunteed it's a lot better.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Hopefully the new Contemptor rules are good enough to justify being 70 points more expensive than a standard Dread. 85 with a kheres.

4 attacks, Chapter Tactics, AV 13, invuln save, even then, 70 points is a lot.

I guess we will see.

If they make it venerable, with the special rule to re-roll damage and the WS/BS5 that’s another 25 points worth of upgrades.

I’m a little irritated it looks like they only have the options for the ways to build the BaC one. How hard would it have been to give it more options? It’s not like FW doesn’t sell them. Would have been a nice gateway.

The dataslate with just the options in the kit is a little irritating. I understand it’s the latest thing, but bothersome.

Comparing it to Imperial Armour: Apocalypse 2nd edition(the most recent book I own with Contemptor rules):
Angels of Death version goes down 5 points(175 in IAA2E), loses Smoke Launchers, has a Multi-Melta instead of twin-linked Heavy Bolter as its base option, and does not have any of the Contemptor options beyond the Kheres Assault Cannon.

Invulnerable Saves are worth a lot on vehicles, IMO. Look at the Onager compared to a Sentinel.

GW's rubbish version are not ELITE (but heavy support .......) ....

Really, that dataslate is the worst example of "only rules for our plastic models" ....
