This will be my thread of mostly greenskins with other stuff thrown in for good measure.
Now some of these you may have seen before either here or on several other sites but I've decided to start a new thread as it was over a year since I updated my last one. This first post is just a random collection of models that are painted/ are in progress featuring mainly orcs and some Hobbit models.
First up my fantasy orcs. This is the first regiment finished for my army. As you can see I've gone for a mix of weaponary as I very rarely play and if I do I'll just make sure its obvious what the unit is armed with for gaming purposes.
Anyway hers's the pics (since this I've added blood to the weapons using the Blood For The Blood God paint and have repainted the drummers drum skins as flayed flesh to match the banner).
Current PIP
Moving onto my 40k stuff. Here's the first fully painted elements of my fully converted Orl Nob force, a modelling project more than a actual gaming force (though they have acquitted themselves well at times).
Some close ups.
Finally for this post is my Hobbit models. Not a lot to show here just a small batch of quickly painted golbins and my PIP Bombur.
Quite a big first post I know but I wanted to show what I had. If you want close ups of any of the models just ask and I'll see what I can do. Hope you enjoyed these models.
Cheers
James

Another update showing the PIP model from last time as well as another one finished (apart form static grass on the base). Also I've got updated pictures of the whole regiment and completed command for my Basha's Bloody Boyz! (Black Orcs).
First new boy. Th finished stabby boy.
Next up is my first finished Big Un. Tried drybrushing the skin for this one rather than the normal layering. Its definitely not as crisp as the layered boys, but it was a nice quick method with still satisfactory results.
Now for the final few shots of the definitely complete regiment. As you can see from these two photos, I've bloodied up the weapons and replaced the cloth drum skin with flayed flesh to match the banner. Grisly I admit but it looks a lot better and matches the banner.
I also completed the command for Basha's Bloody Boyz, again replacing the drum skin with actual skin and bloodying up the weapons and in this case, some of the armour (seeing as the bloodstains are reapplied by the orcs after each fight).
Finally.....
*Top Seckret!*
I started this a few years ago as a present for my then girlfriend, now Fiance. Its meant as a combination of two of our interests. Having found several pieces of it a couple of days ago I decided it was time to finish it. Now originally it was going to be just a single model but after having looked through a thread full of diorama's Ive decided to turn it into a mini one myself.
Anyway here's some images of some of the base components.
Now that's all the information your getting on it for now (though the painted torso is a clue). Hopefully it'll become more obvious as it develops but until then.
Cheers

18.1.14[u]
Just a small update today. So basically there I was minding my own business working on my little diorama when Bam!. I spot a article about the use of sprues for sprucing up bases (ok that was a really bad pun), specifically the use of sprue carved plants.
Now I've been looking at things to add more detail to my bases and after a few tries at this it seemed like the perfect thing. So sitting there watching Band Of Brothers before i knew it I'd glued a tonne of tiny plants to the bases. Anyway here's the results.
First up a couple of painted ones, showing a few flowers as well as the bog standard fern type thing.
[
And the unit filler has got a couple of them as well including a larger one, it just needs to be painted (in fact most of the orcs have had these added to their bases, its just that it shows up better on the larger unit filler base).
So yer, that's what I've been doing over the last couple of days, tiny little sprue plants.
However those interested in the diorama don't worry, progress is still coming along. Here's a WIP image of the control console thingy.
Till next time.
James.

Well I've finished off Bombur so I thought I'd update this thread for you all. Also found some of my old Battle In Middle Earth miniatures the other day at my parents, so I'm going to give Tom Bomnadil a bash soon. For now though I'm gonna paint up Bifur. Anyway here are the pics of Bombur.
Looks like the goblins stole Bombur's stew and he ain't happy.
Bifur up next.
While I'm here I'll also post up the pictures of whats next for my Orc army.
The finishing touches to a few more of the 20 Black Orcs that need touchign up.
And the start of my Big Un's which I've bugen to add some conversion work too (like the Black Orc arm on the boy on the left).
Apologies for the pictures and the flash. The weather here is pretty shoddy at the moment and it was the best I could do.
Till next time
James

I'm thinking that your diorama is inspired by a certain time travelling chap with a blue box?? Console is a cool idea, although first glance I thought it might be an Ewok zylophone

Hey guys and girls got another update for you all today. Nothing huge, I've just finished another couple of Orc models, based a couple of older models and continued with Bofur (as corrected by one eagle eyed commenter) and another Orc. I've also started working again on my classic Orc Shaman model (probably one of my favourtie miniatures ever).
Anyway pictures.
First up is the newest finished boy. Tried to go a bit more colourful with this one but still given it a number of dark and worn areas to tie it in with this rest. This was also one of my former Big Un's (hence the armour pieces) but for now he'll just be added to any old unit like the rest.
Next up is another updated Black Orc (or Bloody Boy in this case) all bloodied up.
And the last three boys I've painted all finished and based.
Now to show what I'm working on at the moment, another random orc boy, the classic shaman miniature and Bofur.
Anyway that's all for now. Hope you all enjoy and comments and criticisms are appreciated.
Cheers
James

Dr H: Thanks, I think they all have slightly different tones as I'm a bit mad like that. The sprue plants are brilliant too. Really gald I found the tutorial on here (I think) for them. Super cheap and effective way of adding more details to your bases.
7.2.14
Another small update for today showing the finsihed Shaman and the boy that I was working on, so lets get right into the images.
Now as you can the orc boy seems a lot more imposing than the Shaman, and originally, I had thought of mounting him on a rock or something but I'm glad I didn't as I kind of like the way he looks small, old and misleadingly weak. In complete contrast the boy is large, brawny and lethal looking (I think I may make him a champion at some point as I really like how he turned out).
Anyway that's all for now. I've also got the day off today and want to see how quickly I can paint up a boy to my usual standard. So here's the candidate (he has a shield as well) and hopefully, I'll be back later with some finished results.
Cheers

11.2.14
Right well I'm back with the finished timed boy. Now although I said I'd have all day to work on it I kind of got distracted and so its taken up until now to finish it. Anyway its done so lets get to some photos and then we'll see how long it took me. As your about to see I took several photos throughout the painting.
This first image show the miniature as I'd nearly finished the skin and his funky trousers and just started on the other areas. Looks pretty damn messy at the moment (probably about 60-75 minutes in).
Just showing his shield and more of the colour scheme for the miniature.
This time it's a image form behind the miniature. Tidied it up a bit and gone for a leather with stripped metal cap instead of the normal metal one. (not sure how long into the painting I was at this point).
Finally the finished model all done in a total of 225 minutes, so 3 hour and 45 minutes. Not a huge amount of time but still, probably too long to realistically paint the 70 or 80 orcs I've got left to do (not to mention all the 40k and LOTR/Hobbit models).
As for the actual model I was attempting to pull off a sort of Viking/Saxon feel to it. Not sure it worked but hey I like it.
Anyway I'm going to try and have another go at timed painting, this time with this guy, this time wanting to keep an eye on how long it takes to do each section (e.g. skin, cloth, armour....)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now on the Hobbit/ LOTR side I've got this to show. I've finished up Bofur which is a nice model to paint with a lot more details on him than his cousin Bombur.
Now, I want to try and get Bifur done soon and then maybe paint a couple of LOTR miniatures but next up will be some more goblins
Till then.
James
