I wouldn't say texting in a theater is a capital offense, but if I ran things, if you texted in a theater the police could drag you into the lobby and administer a savage beating.

To be frank, though, even if the shot was quiet I imagine the blood and screaming could have put some people off their film.

Yes and no. Yes, you can technically acquire them. However, you can't just buy one - you must fill out an application, pay for a $200 tax stamp, and so on, and even then it's unlawful in some jurisdictions. A fully automatic weapon. a short-barreled rifle (SBR), and so on, would require all of that, and I still couldn't have one because Iowa has a ban on select-fire, SBR's, and I believe suppressors as well.

Utterly disgusting. Lock away, never out again, probably wont be long at his age.

This guy was from an era of policing when he should have known better. He should have beat him with his billy club instead of shooting him.

The child must've been at home with a babysitter as the man was with his wife at the movie. In which case the babysitter could read the text to the child and write the response for them.

Texting is really distracting in a film and it's really inconsiderate. One less douchebag.

Seriously though do we have any idea what that guy was doing before he was shot. I know it says there was popcorn thrown, but was he feigning to assault the old cop? Hence why his wife had her hands over him, possibly holding him back?

A potential point there.

I think there is probably more to it than we have seen so far. The other article I read on this mentioned a physical altercation of some sort prior to the shooting.

yeah as soon as I saw the first word was "florida" I immediatly knew why...


definetly seems like we are getting one side to the story however, seems to be downplaying a sudden, threatening motion from someone who was getting verbally agressive, who was much younger and presumably more physically intimidating then the senior citizen, as "throwing popcorn"

either way, horrible situation, but similar ones exist where people died from knives/cars/fists/ect due to needless escalation of conflict

Was watching Scream 3 in the cinema (don't ask!), late on a Friday night most entertaining part about it was a bunch of blokes having a punch-up, silhouetted in front of the screen as it was one of those old cinemas where someone standing up, or with a big head, blocked the view of people behind.
