I thought it might be interesting if we all quoted the first post that we ever made. I'm not sure why, I just think it might be interesting, and seeing things out of context might be interesting.

Here is mine . This is before I knew to quote.

The problem with that being that Tau fire warriors train especially to protect each other from charges. If other armies did that than it would make sense , but they don't.

Mine would have been on, I think, the original Dakka boards. I was probably 11 or 12, and I have no idea what ridiculous nonsense I probably posted as a first post. Probably something about 3rd edition Dark Eldar.

well, I'm trying to create my own killa kan type conversion. One of the things I'd really like to have is a nice killy shoota, with a pair of ammo belts hanging from it. The ammo belts on ebay are like $15 with shipping which is at least $13 more then I'm willing to spend on this part of the project. Any ideas for something I can homebrew? I do have greenstuff but can't imagine how i'd do all the points.

thanks!

Fri, Mar/06/2009

I finally made some ammo belts by turning resin rods on a dremel tool and using a hobby knife to make sort of a halfass lathe. I did so on February 13th, 2014. I have not, as of yet, added them to a Killa Kan.

Hey so I'm new (well, newly returned after about 6 years out) to fantasy, and I'd like to get everyone's input on a dwarf army that I've cobbled together after a few days of cramming (when i should have been cramming for uni...oops). Anyway, gulp, here goes:
Characters
Dwarf Lord (289)
Shieldbearers, Shield with Rune of Stone, Ring with Master Rune of Spite and Rune of the Furnace, Hammer with Rune of Snorri Spanglehelm, Rune of Cleaving and the Grudge Rune

Runelord (398)
Anvil of Doom, Shield with Rune of Stone and Rune of Shielding, Ring with Master Rune of Balance and Spelleater Rune

Thane (220)
Battle Standard Bearer with Master Rune of Valaya and Rune of Guarding

Runesmith (127)
Shield with Rune of Stone, Ring with 2 Runes of Spelleating

Dragon Slayer (100)
Axe with Master Rune of Swiftness, Rune of Speed and Rune of Cleaving

Core
30 Dwarf Warriors (295)
Shields. Full Command

30 Dwarf Longbeards (475)
Shields, Great Weapons, Full Command, Standard Bearer has Rune of Courage

10 Dwarf Thunderers (150)
Shields

10 Dwarf Quarrellers (120)
Shields

Special
Cannon (140)
Engineer, Rune of Forging

10 Miners (160)
Full Command, Prospector has steam drill

20 Ironbreakers (340)
Full Command, Standard Bearer has Master Rune of Grungni

2 Bolt Throwers (170)
Both with Engineers and a Rune of Penetrating

2953

Lord Joins longbeards with BSB thane, runesmith joins dwarf warrior horde, ironbreakers stay pretty close to these 2 units to give them the benefit of their banner. Anvil of doom sits back with war machines (hopefully on a hill) with dragon slayer ready to bash anyone rude enough to show up, while miners show up dirty and angry behind the enemy army (near their juicy war machines i hope)

and apologies for all my grammar/social faux pas (by this sites standards), its my first post

It was an army list, so I put it in spoilers since it is pretty boring. My first actual post was

I'm new to dwarfs too and fantasy 8th ed at that, are anvils worth their points? i mean, its an extra dispel dice and some nice runes, but they seem like they'd be pretty vulnerable. to both enemy mischief and getting blown up from failing to strike ancestor runes (not too worried about failing normal runes, i mean its 2+...but i guess thats what you say as you roll a 1, but anyway yeah not too worried about that).

8th has since forced me out of playing that army too much, so yeah. 8th and my only opponent being my brother who was playing HE.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I was at Cleveland, TN and know the owner personally and would like to address some of the comments made here.

yes, the tourney was delayed for a bit less than an hour, because of a really bad wreck in Atl. that closed the interstates. There were several players who were coming stuck in this.

The terain was a bit sparse (6 pieces per table) but I have played at GTs with much less. The problem we talked about was that it was all mostly buildings. The issues with terrain were brought up by the group that brought more terrain, and subsiquently started moving eveything around to accomodate their terrain they brought, without consulting with the owner first. Basically they tried to railroad the guy into using more terrain. They also were very pushy with him about other issues early on. This guy is a very nice guy who has a business to run and was nice enough to host both rounds of this tourney for very little gain. He didn't deserve the flak.

The issues with the "illegal" army were brought up after the tourney, but the guy did realize it earlier and I was told quit using the offending model. The issue was he had a termy librarian with a familiar, which doesn't have the "*" by it so it can't be used by a termy character. I spoke with the player who played him with the Familiar and he said it made no difference in their game. If it was an honest mistake he should be able to move on. The people giving Shaun (the owner) grief over the issue were the same people who had earlier. The guy who came in 4th who had the most to profit from it, was fine with him winning. I know the 4th place guy as well and he said Shaun was right.

I have played the guy who was the most vocal about these issues, and I had several rules "debates" with him also, all of which were due to his lack of rules knowledge or a real sketchy interpretation of the rules. Mostly revolving around the phrase "Must move towards" meaning "directly towards" or "end your move 1/2" closer to".

All-in-all I had a good time, came in 7th and hated the screwy missions. The 2nd one was totally mind blowing. I went first and got Massacred (Mephiston deploying 6"=BAD for Guardians!) that put me out. I agree that if GW wants to see who's the best at the game they should play standard missions that people actually USE in the game, not some wacky crap no one would agree to if they had a choice.

Anyways, its late and I'm going to curl up next to the lovely wife, sorry for ranting in my first post, but others on here pissed me off.

What is Imperial Armor? I'm new to Guard and I keep seeing this popping up around the forums. Are these extra vehicles that just arent in the codex for normal games, or is it like apocalypse where they can only be taken in certain gametypes?

I've seen some of the vehicles on Forgeworld and I have to admit theyre pretty awesome. While I cant afford the kits, I can probably figure out how to make a few from scratch if I really wanted em. That is if they're even legal for normal games of course

It was on the second page of the 40k background forum and the first post back then was a month ago (I think). There's absolutely nothing wrong with Monster. I've been drinking it for 8 years and have had no heart or other cardiovascular problems from it. All it is flavored caffeine.

In addition to military personnel consuming large quantities of energy drinks and caffeinated dip, physical laborers also drink quite a bit. I had a boss in the restaurant industry who went through 3-5 of the 24 oz cans a day.

I can't believe I actually registered to post that after lurking on this site for a good year. Haha. I'm really defensive about Monster.

I can sympathise with the whole thing where GW guys think that they're a notch above the gamer.
Several times have I experienced irritation when I help someone with a rule, and some douche of a GW employee comes up, tells me I'm wrong, and when asked to qualify this replies, 'I'm a GW employee, which means I should know'.

It's like as someone said before, they feel they get to be 'King Geek', which puts them above the gamer.

I must admit it's scarily good fun to whip out a rulebook and prove them wrong though.

Here's a nice quote from the local Canterbury manager
,'See, the thing is with those people on Warseer..'
*I interrupt* 'Actually, I read DakkaDakka'
'Pfff. Whatever. Any of those crappy little gaming forums. You have all these older gamers who think they know everything, and most of the time, they're wrong. After all, if they were half as good at the hobby as they think they are, they'd work for GW'.

After this, I stumbled outside chuckling to myself, and realising that there was no worse fate I could wish upon that man, as he ALREADY works for GW!

Pre-6th musings about SM.

 DogofWar1 wrote:
Personally, I'd like to see Tactical squads be allowed to take either 2 heavy or 2 special weapons or 1 of each, instead of JUST 1 of each like now.

That, and either:
A) make bolters assault 2 (will never happen) (or just give them storm bolters like GK)
B) give them another CCW
C) give them counterattack (again, won't happen)

Then, transport is probably the biggest problem, rhinos are cheap but slow, easily popped, and aren't assault vehicles. GW doesn't need to address all three of those issues to make them good, but it'd be nice to see them do something there.

Land Raiders and Stormravens are just too expensive to be ferrying standard 3+ power armor marines into combat.

Allowing apothecaries to break off into squads would certainly help with survivability, but I somehow doubt that happens, since that's the BA thing, along with fast vehicles.

Or better than all of that, how about they just tweak Sternguard to 23pts/model (in line with Thousand Suns), and Vanguard base cost to 25pts/model WITH a jump pack (and maybe WS5, if they're feeling generous), make them troops, and then make the Rhino an assault vehicle (or new STC, the Hippo).

I don't think they'll do much though. If they do anything except drop the points by 2 per guy, I'll be surprised.

EDIT: Whoa, dracpanzer said a bunch of the same things 34 seconds before I did. Cool.
