hi all

it seems ages ago since there was a X wing release

everyone knows that the next release will be imperial ace's slated for Jan/ Feb but it seems slow in coming

plus we also know that the one after that will be Tantive IV & Rebel transport both slated for early 2014

& now there's another wave slated for late July (but they do look sexy)

also I've read on the FF website about expanded rules for larger games but no time line

so does anyone know actual dates for release not just rumours?

This lists Imperial Aces as coming out sometime this month - I'm sure it will be towards the end of the month before they will be in anyone's hands.

The big ships and wave 4 are all listed as 2nd quarter (April-June), with June most likely I assume. The epic/cinematic rules will be in the big ships' boxes.

I've read on a few boards that aces are at the distributors and shipping out now. But ffg is holding them to a release date of march 14th.

March 17th according to FFG's site, though obviously they will be at some places earlier.

Also FFG typically updates status on Fridays, so that's the best time to check.

I just bought this game and it's twin Star Trek Attack Wing. What's with FFG and releases? There's like three or four ships available according to the display at my FLGS and there's like 12 over on the STAW display?! And wizkids have a nice little role out graphic showing about when their stuff is rolling out. Geeezzz....

Imperial Aces are in stock and will be released on Friday, although this is dependent on the supplier where you live, however.

it just creates frustration & profiteering (some of the prices on ebay & amazon are mental)

I've got the money I want to buy the ship

if they weren't pre painted there be no issue with supply & demand

also this long lead time thing. I don't like as you get your froth for the shinny new ships but have to wait 6 months to get your mitts on them by that point the froth has gone

slag GW off for certain things but they show you the lovely figures at the start of the month & they'll be on sale by the end of the month

There are currently 12 ships available for X-Wing. That's after two years. STAW started with 11 ships. I purchased all 11 and, while STAW has some interesting variations on the X-Wing rules, I will likely never buy another STAW product because the quality is so low. By contrast, I am always super excited by an X-Wing release and always pre-order long before release.

Why was WizKids able to put so much out in STAW's first wave? All of the awful sculpts WizKids sells were already done and manufacturing them was probably not difficult considering that the ST MicroMachnies from the '90s had more detail and better paint jobs. FFG by contrast designs much better models and components.

I assume the next release will be when Gosric or Mel_Miniatures finish modelling them

..but official releases? Yeah it does seem to be about time for some new 'ship' rumors to start leaking out of FFG.

Wow what makes you say that? I've been on this train from the start and I don't know of any leaks. There's plenty of speculation from customers, of course, and up til now the choice of what's next was pretty obvious.

Well I don't mean leaks in the traditional sense. But instead where a company chooses to tease one or two small details, or where a bit of information comes up at a convention, in advance of the next release or wave of releases.

But it's only been a month since Wave 4 was announced. To clarify, I'm not so much arguing against you as wondering what precedent you're referring to. I haven't followed X-Wing on the FFG boards for a long while so I don't know if/when they teased Wave 4, for example.

The best example I can think of is the news about the two 'big' ships. I'm pretty sure I remember reading about them a few months before we saw any kind of official announcement or pictures of the Tantive etc from FFG.

..but you should consider this hearsay because I probably couldn't dig up any forum posts to substantiate this

They were officially announced and shown at Gencon last year but weren't put up on the site until some time after, IIRC. That may be what you're thinking about.

I know I have been talking about the possibility of making both the GR-75 and the CR90 since 2012. You can find my posts (under this same username) from back them on the FFG board. IME it's less a question leaks/teases and more a question the realm of speculation being fairly narrow. Until now! Aside from the YT-2400, I'd say Wave 5 is wide open. Chiss clawcrafts?

Ffg just told my local shop they will get the aces next week.

I've seen the Aces in the flesh, my local gaming store has them but can't release them just yet.

I've been asking Dark Sphere and it seems they have not heard from the uk 'distributer' Esdevium yet?

My local store says the distributor has them packed and shipping, but FFG has said not till Monday for sales

I'm travelling at the moment, and have had the good fortune to find a reliable FFG distributor...

They look cool. I am thinking of ordering another two packs eventually.
