As many of you are no doubt aware, GW has gotten into the swing of One-Click bundles such as these-

My question to you all is- how many of you actually buy these from GW??

I've never bought one but the they don't cost GW any money so they don't lose anything by putting them up and if one person buys one it's all good for them.

I bought one of the Tau ones purely because I was going to get everything that came in it and I couldn't be stuffed clicking it.

Just remember everyone, next time you are looking for some psudo-latin to scrawl on a banner or the side of a tank "Caveat Emptor” is the phrase for you!

The 1 clicks are just marketing. It’s an advertisement showing how units look cool together, providing seeds of ideas for people building their collections/armies. They cost next to nothing, and if they promote sales, victory.

I never bothered with them for a few simple reasons.

1. They dont save you any money
2. It's often too much, in price and in model count. Building and painting all that at once can be
very overwhelming!
3. If you really wanna one click save there are several stores on ebay and other websites that
you can not only order a whole army from but choose specifically what you want in your army with
just a simple email.

So thats why i have never purchased one from GW. I have used ebay to buys a chaos army. just bought
the codex at a local game store then sent an email with the name and list of units and BAM 4 days later they were
at my house.

Oh yeah thats another reason. Shipping from Amazon. Ebay, Where ever, Is almost always faster than GW's shipping.

Into the fires of battle, unto the anvil of war!

The one for Iron Hands is fantastic and is how one click bundles should work for all armies. 1 HQ + 2 Troops.

I don't know why anyone would buy from GW unless it was for direct only items. There are some very reliable retailers online that offer discount.

It's so hard finding an interested store in brisbane. There's Alpha Hobbies, but that's still an order-in store, and there's warpuppy, (another order-in) and those are cool, but when all I want is a box of chaos warhounds I'll buy GW because it's quicker.

Quicker than what? You saying that when you want Warhounds you must have them right now, so go to a GW store rather than wait a day to get a 20% discount? Or are you ordering from the GWOZ website, in which case that makes even less sense.

I find that kind of hard to believe - if you're so rich and busy that you need to save 2 minutes of clickin' then you probably don't have the time to assemble an army, paint an army and get together for 3-4 hours to play a match with anybody.

I imagine somebody must buy them - or they wouldn't keep doing them. But I think in the long run it might do more harm than good when people see exactly how little they're getting for $600,$800, $1200 or whatever.

The actual bundles that save money - as in the Strikeforces they've been releasing and the old Megaforces and (early) Spearheads - those are things I bought. These 1-click collections don't save anything and they're just from GW direct, so I have no reason to buy them.

Im sorry what? I dont have a stock portfolio, and even if I do have a very considerable income each month I dont drop the amount of money asked for one of the budnels at a whim, seeing how I am actualy rather frugal with my spendings hobby wise and in general terms

I find the majority of them fairly insulting, I can see the argument posted above whereby you can see what they look like as a collection but I would expect to see some form of saving associated with these 'one click collections'. Even Forgeworld manage it with there 'bundle' deals why can't GW. Particularly irritating are the ones like this:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat1310002a&prodId=prod2410002a

Where is the logic in that? For people who CBA to select a quantity other than 1 from the drop down menu? Or you could go to a decent webstore site and get four of em for the same price...

One word: parents.

Non-gamer parents (and other family members) don't understand the game and don't have any interest in hunting for the best discount, so when it's time to go birthday shopping all they know is that their kid wants some space marines. And hey, here's a bundle deal with a bunch of space marines, and that helpful employee even said it's going to be great for his army. Of course this is kind of hindered by the absurd price on some of the bundles, but I'm sure the cheaper ones do get some sales.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

They're the epitome of the stupidity of GW right now. I am baffled as to anyone buying it.

As for "parents", I dunno many parents who will spend $300-$500 (as many bundles often are in terms of minimum price) on something they know nothing about.

Those things are a rip off for us. Many of them are like a dollar or so more expensive than buying them separately. I will not pay a dollar more than i need to. I only use GW store as a guide for whats new really. Unless they do something worth my money.

But I dont know anyone that uses them.

If he's that awesome of a guy that you are willing to spend extra money for his sake (which is kinda strange to be honest), then I would suggest just buying the models for usually close to half price online, and just giving him the rest of the cash.

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

I do wonder though how applicable this is, and certainly in the modern age? When I've had to buy some make-up related stuff for a girlfriend, I've spent some time looking around the internet for the best deal. I've had absolutely no clue whatsoever about what I am buying, and what it does, other than the vague notion of it being in a sparkly container and probably costing far too much. But, if you have a product name and RRP it's easy to find. In the same way, I know when people have bought things for me (books, films etc.) they haven't gone straight into a high street store, they've put the name into google and searched for it. Why should searching for 'space wolf bloodclaws' be any different?

Just out of curiosity I typed 'discount games workshop' into google and was given a page of stores that sell those items between 10-25% off.

So, I do wonder who these deals are for, as I think any parent under the age of 40 is probably going to be savvy enough these days to spend 10 minutes looking around the internet. Even more so when you see the mental prices at RRP. I can't decide whether the deals on the GW website are just amusing or plain insulting - I can't understand why anyone would ever buy one, under any circumstances, unless they have no concept of the value of money and are inordinately lazy.

I would second the non-gamer parents/relatives. Especially last generation or (lazy) this currant generation because quite often they won't actually look for discounting, and its easier for them to pop instore or get deliveries.

I do know someone who bought the 12K worth bundle of gear simply because he couldn't be arsed to collect it for so long.

Thats what it comes down to, laziness and impatience. people just want to see their models NOW.
