I gave him a few coats of thinned brown ink and im ecstatic with it. Its pretty much how i wanted them to look in the first place, meaner, darker, more natural, and i little more unique.

Ill post a shot once i finish the group im working on. Tonight/tomorrow? *Crosses fingers

I had intended to only necro my thread once i had some new pics to show but i figured ive been seeing a lot of new folks who may have some good input for me on my past work.

As it stands right now in my current situation my WAAAAGH Eaters are going to be built as an ongoing project rather than focusing on completed a field-able army first. The goal is to get to that point where i can play i hope but as a psychological mind game for myself so i don't get overwhelmed by the thought of converting 120 boys, i think this is a better mindset for me (at least for now).

The current project right now is my third Nob to add to the bloodletter and the terminator Nobs. The theme of this one is to convey the FNP aspect of the World eaters. Forgive me if they don't use that rule anymore, ive been out of the loop, but the idea is that its still fairly iconic for the Berserkers to be absolutely desensitized to pain.

I'm going fairly ambitious for having not done any recent work on this one. I plan on doing a full torso sculpt with the idea of making him bare chested in the Hulk sense of the word. Tattered shreds of clothing if not nothing covering the upper body with a large focus on an equal number of both scars and open wounds. As for positioning id like to give him a fairly reckless pose swinging wildly with two fairly large chain-axes. An absolutely crazed expression with vacant and dieing eyes to show he may or may not be in his last moments is in the works too.

I have his two legs done at the moment but haven't connected them into a unified lower body yet but that's tonight's project. Let me know if you guys think this is a cool idea!

Good to be back and thanks again.

This army is looking like it will be really good. I love the detailing thought that you've put into all of your work so far, backed up by good modelling skills.

Well done sir!

Eh, its a sore subject to me really, just because i sort of believe "mutating" them would sort of be the easy way out as far as what im trying to accomplish. That said, im kind of running out of ideas for my Nobs and i had intended to make one representing the embodiment of every khornate unit/stereotype. It's not out of the question by any means and i know i would have load of fun with it but that would be sort of a last resort.

Plus the new khornate demons dont lent themselves with "the thickness" of the Orks IMO not that it would stop me from trying but they were released during my sabbatical and have since made my Bloodletter skinned Nob sort of outdated, so im kinda bitter.

Hey Pete, nice to hear you get back on this project, I've been kinda missing it.
I like the idea of FnP modelled on an Ork model, especially if you consider that Nob mobz can actually get that rule.

Small update:

I have the legs all carved up and in position for my FNP Nob with the torso framed. I wasn't really feeling up to a face sculpt atm because i need to shake the rust out before i try anything too ambitious, what i did do though is convert one of the new nob heads to make him look that special blend of crazy im such a fan of.

I ended up pretty much cutting off one side of the brow and reshaping it to look wide-eyed as well as adding a whole new eyeball in the resulting extra space. It gives him that twitchy eyed psycho look and i think it looks pretty good so far. The two bottom tusks are also going to be slightly enlarged. Im debating whether or not i need to add a bottom eyelid to the new eye to look more realistic. I don't want him looking bug eyed and silly, just out of control. I admit I spent a few awkward minutes in the bathroom mirror last night doing important crazy eye research.

I'm currently cameraless but im hoping to remedy that so i can get some feedback from you fine people. Hoping to get some progress shots this weekend.

Thanks guys.

Ok heres some WIP shots of the FNP Nob.

Basic shot of the legs with the torso being started:

The crazy eye head:

Weapons shot. The larger one is from the new Nob box with a few swaps for hand position. The single blade axe is from the Games Day BO but 40ked up a bit:

Torso a bit more fleshed out, i feel its a bit wide atm let me know what you guys think. Still tons to do on this section obviously:

Mock up of the final positions using some tack:

Size mock up vs. the other Nobs:

So thats what i got so far. Like i said earlier im thinking the torso may be a bit wide once those arms get on. Let me know what you guys think!

Update time:

The second layer of muscles on the front torso are done. The pictures are only of the right side but as of this moment the entire front of the torso is at the same stage as well as half of the left arm being attached. My feelings from the last update about him being too wide i think were true so i took the pectorals down a few notches and built them back up a bit more realistically. Next step is to start connecting the muscle groups into the back and get that modeled up. Once thats done ill most likely do a touch up layer on the full upper body. Then its onto the pants and geaves!

Not my best photography but i was sort of in a hurry when i took them so the lighting leaves something to be desired. C&C are obviously welcome if not desired.

Thanks guys!

just wondering are you going to leave his six-pack the way it is? cause im kinda thinking it shud be a lil more rounded and not looking like you just stuck ur thumbnail in the greenstuff

but other than that this looks like itll be one of the best ork theme armies ill ever see in a lifetime
ive always thought of doing something like this but my memory sucks so i forgot constantly

Well its the same as on my boss, the reason i had been doing them this way was that the closest thing to a bare torso on an ork i had seen is on the feral orc models from WFB. I kind of like the half gut look too because in real life (most) people can get absolutely shredded just from working out but you need to be pretty strict on diet to have the six pack. As i see it Orks fight all day so are pretty ripped but could care less about appearances so i thought it appropriate to leave the gut a tad pudgy.

That said i think i will go over it again a little because i noticed a chunk of poorly mixed GS on it anyways. Im planning on having him be gutshot as well so im not sure how much it will matter as im sure the wound will draw the eye more than the definition of the muscle.

First off thanks for the kind words guys! It's really good to be modeling again, i'm having a blast making these crazy bastards so its really cool to hear that you guys are at least being entertained a bit too.

But enough sappiness, this is Ork country!

I started work on the pants and lower torso last night. So far so good, i still have yet to sculpt the chain onto the back plate and i need to touch up where the cloth folds over the chain a bit too. Let me know if anything catches your eyes or looks odd. I also attached the big choppa because its out of the way and should hinder any sculpting from here on out.

So he's definitely getting there, i need to once over the whole mini for touch ups here and there, scar and injure him severely, attach the left hand axe, and base him. Pretty much in that order.

Oh and he's not attached to the base yet as im still figuring out the coolest way to do it. Im trying to figure out how to work in cork because im convinced it will look pretty killer combined with those bricks i have. Thoughts?
