jp400 wrote:Ok Mr. Know-it-All. Let me break it down to you. The above is what I posted, and since you seem to know exactly how my life is run let me clue you in.
I have a full time job. I leave for work at 6am and get home at 8pm. 2 days a week I have EMT class for 4 hours at night and every Saturday im doing hands on all day. (Yes all day)

Everyone is busy. We all have families and jobs and responsibilities. And your life is no more important than anyone else. "I am saving lives therefor I have the right not to paint my models." Come on. Anyone on the Internet can lie and make stuff up. Even if true, In a hobby that takes 2 hours a game, you can clearly sacrifice playing time to paint whether you 'like to do it or not'. And since *ANYONE* is capable of painting tabletop quality in minimal time, no one has an excuse.

If you don't like to paint so you have the right not to paint, then your opponents have the right not to model because it is expensive and time consuming. Either all aspects of the hobby are important or none of them are. You can't demand WYSIWYG and not painting. You can't demand painting and no Proxies. It is all or nothing.

Claiming the aspect of the hobby you enjoy is more important than other aspects makes you a hypocrite. Anyone who refuses to paint but demands wysiwyg and acts like modeling is more important and valuable than any other aspect of the hobby is a snob.

Ok please for the life of me point out where i said anywhere "I am saving lives therefor I have the right not to paint my models?" In fact I demand that you do. Stop putting words in my mouth that I did not say. I dont do my flipping job because I need an excuse to justify myself. Im a Volunteer Firefighter trying to get EMT certified so I can give back to my community that supported me during my miltiple tours in Iraq. Its my way of giving back to them saying thanks. I dont get a single penny for doing this and I pay for my schooling out of my own pocket. Once again you dont speak of what you know so how about this time you just shut the hell up.

I even pointed out that I need to go out of my way to make time to play a frigging game. You wouldnt understand this, but when a grown up does this he loses money from his job. This translates to me loseing money every time I play. So why would I do this more often then I have to?

"Claimning the aspect of the hobby you enjoy is more important than other aspects makes you a hypocrite." Once again point out where this applies to me. And again stop putting words in my mouth. You here also describe everyone at a basic level who is screaming that they need bonuses for haveing a flashy army. Do you really need that much of a handicap to win games people? Cause thats what it boils down too.

Then stop trying to throw the status or importance of your job as justification in as an argument to justify anything. This is the SECOND time you have thrown your status in people's faces. And now you add you are a vet which has nothing to do with anything. EVERYONE does important stuff with their time so being a volunteer firefighter, EMT or Iraqi vet doesn't make your time more or less important than anyone else or justify your position. Busy is busy. But we all have playing time that sacrificed to model/paint which leave your 'important' responsibilities untouched. 2 hours playing can be turned into 2 hours dipping and you can paint a 2000 point army in that time.

And I never said I need or want an advantage. I just want lazy non-painters to stop trying to say that painting should be optional because they are too busy but Proxies and non WYSWIG should be banned. It is all or nothing. And I support places that demand all and I support places that support nothing.

I even pointed out that I need to go out of my way to make time to play a frigging game. You wouldnt understand this, but when a grown up does this he loses money from his job. This translates to me loseing money every time I play. So why would I do this more often then I have to?

Fail. We all drive different to our gaming places. We all pay costs when we drive places. That again, doesn't make you or your situation unique or more important than anyone else. It is an expensive hobby and so are 'driving costs'.

And nice mature inference that if I was a 'grown-up' I would understand. I don't feel the need to throw my personal life stats in people's faces to make off-topic defenses of a position that has nothing to do with anything. Not to mention you don't know anything about my age or what I do for a living or how I spend my personal time.

Maybe you need to re-evaluate your personal priorities if your life is so 'important and packed'.

I dont know where in left field you are comming from but I have not EVER "thrown my status in people's faces." FFS dude, ive asked you once and your too dumb to stop putting words in my mouth. If you cant do that then FFS stop quoting me. And HTF does me saying "Im a Volunteer Firefighter trying to get EMT certified so I can give back to my community that supported me during my miltiple tours in Iraq." translate to "Im A Vet eat my Status you inferior petty Knaves!" How does that translate to me throwing my vet status at people "Forceing" my life into others faces?

So let me guess, according to you my "Priorities in my life" (Protecting people and their property and helping my community) is less important to you then Painting a stupid model? Seriously thats the most F'd up thing ive seen today. Maybe you should "Re-evaluate" your priorities, but thats not my place to say. And their lies the difference between me and you.

I have never in any of my posts said that anything I do or have done is more important then anything anyone else here has done. If your reading it that way, your not only wrong but stupid. Once again this falls into you putting words in my mouth and for the 3rd time STOP PUTTING WORDS IN MY MOUTH. It is only makeing you look dumber then you are.

Back on topic....
Outside Tournys its wrong to put penalties on people for not haveing fully painted miniatures.

I think this thread has officially gone off the deep end and been consumed with nerd rage, please can it be put to rest?

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

yeah,
Jp400 i read your post the same way as nkelsch. I find your in your face manner a bit boring.

Besides with firemen, the On call nature of their Job means they have loads of spare time to do stuff.
I always see them playing football in the fire station yard.

Sheesh.

Never assume you know what the other guy has going on in his life.

And just be NICE about it. Have a little understanding. Easy for me to say, because I'm not invested in this conversation, but it's a good perspective.

Humility is good too. Goes a long way.

But we are off-topic here. If you want to continue discussing this (politely), please start a new thread.

Thank you.

grey_death: Iorek got to it before I did! Mooby's!
