and my 6000, plus battalion of steggies. i realy like the new model because it looks fat n' grumpy....

i didnt like the old one because it had its head too low, and had to look like he was eating grass. the new one looks awesome!

Definitely remember.
1: Scaly Skin is 5+ for all suarus as standard.
2: Cold one riders now have a 2+ save
3: Stegadons are special, stegadon ancients are rare. IIRC both may be a mount for skink chiefs or shamans (parts for whcih come in the new plastic kit). The giant bow can be replaced with giant blow pipes.
4: Skinks are dropping in price!!!! However this may be for the ranked unit skinks and you have to pay extra for the skirmish ability.
5: Ranked units of skinks with kroxigor in 2nd rank able to strike over skinks at enemy are back.
6: New templeguard special character champ who causes enemy magical weapons to be 'non magical', has 5+ ward save and causes temple guard unit to be unbreakable.
7: Razordon shoots St 4 -1AS spines (not sure how many)
8: Salamander uses template, st 3 -3 AS! If breath weapon (which it should be) the salamander will eb able to march and breathe in the same turn.
9: Saurus have 2 base attacks... no bite attack anymore. So spears will get 2 attacks from 2nd rank!!! Now definitely worth taking if you take shield and the 5+ scaly skin save.
10: I am so glad I already have a significant lizardmen force...

Doesn't the rule for multi-rank weapons (spears (2)) work such that any model after the 2nd rank gets -1 attack? (effectively denying any attack for most spearmen) If the saurus work this way, it would be conceivable that everything behind the 2nd rank gets one attack.

I believe I heard Salamanders were being moved to Special, and Razordons were taking their place in the Rare section.

I was at a major tournament and they had the book on hand for perusal. Pretty much whatever Waaaagh Gonads said is true. Some extras:

1: Carnasaur goes up to S7, is NOT a large target, and does D3 wounds to everything.
2: Giant bow on Stegadon is poisoned - so if you roll a "6" to hit - autowound, autowound, autowound, autowound...and no armour save!
3: Kroxies drop to S6 but are a few points cheaper
4: Slaan is no longer a large target, generations are gone per se, but for X points they can buy "powers" similar to the old generation/plaques stuff - examples include throwing the extra power dice, terror, MR 3...

Any word on short bows on Skinks? Is there still a Southlands list where this would be allowed?

That sounds nasty. But I suppose it's necessary to keep the Army book up to the overall buffed 7th edition level of amy books.

The only bad move, especially considering they have a new model coming out it verges on insanity.

Kroxigors were pretty much perfect before, st7 but the great weapons meant they always struck last.

If they had left them exactly as they were I'd still be taking them as my default special unit.

As a TK player I'm glad to see str7 going away but as a new lizardman player I think 2 of em hitting at str6 will add some nice killing power to a block of little skinks

I wondered at that too, when the Dark Elves cauldron was revamped to be able to zing +1A around. Turns out no, that's not in the "attacks in two ranks" rule at all, they really do get all of their attaks. So 20 WS3 S4 from a saurus spear block standing still - oh, after you bounce off their 3+ saves of course.

I had thought they were both Rares, but I could see them moving sallies out with the nerf. But that leaves special as: sallies, baby steggies, kroxies, terradons, buffed-up cold ones, cameleon dudes. And rares as: old steggies, razzies. Right?

4) I can only assume it will still have 360 LoS somehow as well as be able to shoot over the other lizardmen, but without the attendant disadvantage. w00t?

I don't think saurus will get 2 spear attacks

Why not? Currently no serious players take spears (if they field Saurus) since they

a)cost significantly more
b)make their armour a crappy 5+ (assuming no quetzl)
c)only add 1 attack.

By lowering the cost of spears, increasing their base armour, and giving the second rank their full 2 attacks, it makes spears viable.

Sorry - hate to pester about this point - but for any that saw the army book, can you confirm or deny the presence of a Southlands list with shortbows for skinks?

Yeah, I've got 72 old-school plastic skinks with shortbows and a passel of old-school saurus that are waiting to find out if they can get shortbows and 2-Attack spears before I start painting them...

Yeah, I've got a full Southlands skins army too. Don't have the old plastic ones, I converted bows onto the current ones. Only have 30 of em however.

Also for skinks, anyone know if the new ranked unit will also get a champ, standard and musician? I could start converting some now...

Okay, I hate to be a pest about this (again), but considering that we've heard from a number of folks that have seen the army book at public venues, it shouldn't be a problem for folks to confirm whether or not there's a Southlands list in the new Lizard book.
