I dunno, just thought it would look cool.

If I had to have a reason I would say maybe this planet has a chemical in the atmosphere that does it to them. The world's atmosphere just rusts stuff really fast.

Wraithguard now just need based.

Eldrad is basecoated.

Everything looks amazing, keep up the good work and I really can't wait to see everything on its display board.

I bow before your almighty painting skills!

Yeah I'm going to quit painting now. I can only hope that I become half as good as you. Excellent work.

I agree though, a tutorial on how you achieve the rust effects would be excellent. I imagine it'd have to wait until after Adepticon, but it would be worth the wait.

Gawd, I am being dense again.

Memento mori, what does that mean, and in what language?

By the way, your work is really inspirational, I love what I am seeing(I spelt that wrong, didn't I?).

"Be mindful of death."

Literally "Remember of Death".

That fits with the Eldar.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags.

Gorgeous army!

It has very otherwordly feel with the colours and the rust and the banners combining together. I was kind of wondering why the rust, but really, who cares when it looks so good!

The display base looks great too. The base and the army creates very sad and melancholy atmosphere, but that's eldar for you!

I have the results of the last chamber: You are a horrible person.
That's what it says: A horrible person...
We weren't even testing for that.

I like what happens on the display part of the display, but the frames are too much for my tastes and the blue pretty overwhelming. I think a much more understated, black frames with a rusty text would've served the gorgeous army better.

When a roman general (around year 0) returned from a very successful campain he could be rewarded with a triumph tour inside the city. While he was being cheered on by the people he was required to have an assistant standing behind him whispering "memento mori", meaning roughly "remember that you are just a mortal human". This was supposedly to keep the generals from developing delusions of divinity, and to keep the generals from being tempted to do a military coup while his legion was inside the city walls.

It does sort of mean that, just like the Amor graffitti has a couple of meanings. But hold on...

Thats just the lighting causing a retinae burning contrast. Its actually a pretty quiet blue one might use on Ultramarines. If you saw it in person you would think differently.

A black frame would also cause all the orange rust to become overpowering.

Yeah, this is the translation I like best

And if I get time when I get back I will do a tutorial.

That makes a world more sense.

Got any pictures of the Eldar mounted on the board?

Yeah it fits a bit better

Not yet, the wraithguard and Eldrad will probably be finished today, so in the morning when there is good light I will likely reshoot the whole army.

First post here, and Im sorry it is going to be a little critisizing, but I have one issue with the display piece.

To me, the snow just, i dont know...looks splotchy...it just seems too "unnatural" and organised. there is snow where you wouldnt expect snow, and bare basework where you would expect snow to collect.

Apart from that. HOLY MOLEY CAN YOU PAINT!!!

I LOVE the Wraithguard. You have inspired me to actually start to learn to blend paints. Just awesome work.

Thanks for answering about why ur doing the rust and my first post too made me feel welcomed in thanks.

But ya I love rust work and you dont get to see it much let alone with eldar so it really sticks out to ya. You did it real well too. And guys rust isnt that hard to do really although as good as it is here takes a lil practice but its still a good tech to use

press 1 for english press 2 until you do, children left unattended will be sold into slavery, and to the question asked the most.....HELL YES IT HURTS!!!

Painted Eldrad today and took a quick shot:

Found a couple spots I missed and you cant really tell whats going on with the sword, but tomorrow I am going to go in and reshoot everything in nice sunlight (finally!)

Im going back to the shop in a bit to base the wraithguard and then they are done.

What colors are you using for your blues? It's a really nice, water-style color that I'd like to try and copy.

Meridius blue is the mid tone. Its a PP color.

Base is cygnar base blue (that is also the ultramarine blue, I just dont deviate to meridius). For highlights I add the custom mix of teal you see on some parts, and then white.

I'm ambivalent on the rust, but the execution is excellent.

I think the rust on the board edges is an interesting and effective choice. Not something I would have thought of.

I'm looking forward to seeing these in person.
