Thanks! - although the colour on the Tank looks a lot brighter than it should be - must be the flash.

Have to find time to scrub off the salt tonight...

Added an airbrushed wash to the tank and then took off the salt and scrubbed down the tank to show through the rust:

Need to add unit markings and stenciling - thinking of adding these to the turret area (on top and side of turret).

Any thoughts? Or recommendations of what would looks good (or correct) for the tanks' markings?

Thanks for any replies...

Thanks very much!

For those interested, the unit markings and identification are all done with sponge stenciling - either masking an area off or taping on a cut out work (carefully done with a sharp hobby knife) and sponging on two layers of paint (bleached bone and white for white, mechrite red and blood red for the red).

Used this same method for doing yellow/black warning bit (will show when I next put a photo up).

Hopefully will finish tonight - need to do cables, complete the shrine and complete the weathering.

Now finished the tank, and looks like I have a trade set up for it now!

(was looking to trade it for a new Baneblade + 1 other 40K unit)

Happy with how it came out.

No not a commission, but decided to sell or trade as I have too much gaming stuff!

The guy who bought it plays krieg rather than Cadians, so will redo army name for him.

Nurgle pus letters nearly completed.

The white on the base is PVA to texture up the water. These need to have a little work done on the base, matt coated, more ink put on the water on the swamp base, flocked and then glossed over the water, tougue, eyes and sword.

Hi

The tank weathering is following salt+hairspray method - if you look at Grey Death's blog you can see the steps:

http://thepaintingcorps.blogspot.com/2009/04/friday-quick-tip-salt-hairspray.html

I pretty much followed that, but putting multiple layers of paint etc down first and then scrubbing it off. Used isopropyl alcohol to assist in parts and scrubbed it hard with a dish brush (harder to remove the paint because it is more cured and because there are multiple layers).

You need to be careful when it's fresh as it may come off quick.

Cheers

Tim

OK - to start with, I have begun cleaning up these guys:

Looking forward to trying some techniques with Space Marines - haven't painted any for a while.

And finally finished my Pus Letters - muted down the veins, glossed the water on the bases and added reeds and grass.

Next Nurgle thing upcoming is to finish the Plague Crusher and then looking to create a nurgling base with a nurgling with a full size dead marine as a puppet.

In this theme:

Get to it, you can get some great results and I don't get tired of airbrushing (actually thinking of taking on some commission work on tanks after selling this one!)

Cheers

Hi

Tried out tank weathering techniques on terminators - and it didn't work out very well. Some of the results might be OK if you were doing Chaos, but the layers obscure some detail with some of the base colours (the chrome in particular) and otherwise it just didn't look very good. The black base looked best anyway I think

So - will probably look at just painting on any weathering effects or keeping them pristine. I have an AoBR set on the way now, a unit of assault marines and these termis to build up a BA little army.

This is why I used the test minis anyway! Can drop them in to get cleaned off again to reuse for test colouring.

edit - arghh - auto append! Stupid, as it puts the posted pics at the bottom. Oh well, the post was about this: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/351078.page#2517061

Got a lot of the base coating done on the figure now, and a little highlighting on the nurglings.

Next is to do a first pass of highlighting on everything, then wash all the different areas appropriately.

The idea if to paint Epi like a big very disturbing baby in a demonic high chair being carried out of the swamp...

A little more progress - got the skin tone looking good - Epi is just a big fun loving baby!

Does anyone think he should have visible veins like on the Pus Letters and Plague Bearers?

Enjoying painting him - he's a good figure!

Hi - a little more on it this morning and some better pics.

Might be taking my son to a GW store for game night tonight, so may bring along my Nurgle guys for their first battle other than against my son.
