In the grim darkness of the future of course :3

I kid, no idea really, but the fifth one just came out a while back, my guess is they are going to try and update a lot of the old army codex books before they release a new rulebook. Failing that, they will release pocket sized rulebooks for sixth edition (with the BGB being a 'collector's edition').

i predict 6th ed is going to see a major Imperial collapse. im an IG/BA player so im not biased. i predict that the Imperium will loose Armageddon and there will be another black crusade. basically only the the hard core pro imperial players will stck around and there will be a lot of players jumping on the "evil" race bandwagon.

What I expect is to downgrade the cover saves from 4+ to 5+.
Moreover, I hope that the tanks are no longer pillboxes, with defensive weapons of strength <= 6.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

As soon as you get your army humming well...expect 6th edition.

They gotta keep selling models after all.

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

But this means new challenges for all of us.
I would like to see the new edition at the end of 2010.

I agree that the basic cover save should be 5+, rather than 4+

I don't think tanks will go back to Defensive Weapon for S5+, but I could see Defensive weapons expanded to include Assault Weapons. That would allow Heavy Flamers and such...

You expect GW to move the story forward? You realise that basically nothing has changed at all in 40K? All they've done is add to the status quo.

And they've pretty much said they want to change nothing. It's going to be status quo for many millenium.

Yeah, I'd second this suggestion.

S5 for defensive weapons is a Royal Screw Up for Eldar while benefiting the HB armies to no end. Assault Weapons included at least will allow to add shurican to vehicles.

All GW vehicle rules after 2nd Ed = EPIC FAIL.

They've never been able to capture what tanks should be since 2nd Ed. They're either bunkers (3rd & 5th) or speedy glass-hammers (4th).

Defensive Weapons should be able to defend the tank they're on - fire at targets separate from the main gun and fire when moving. And 'defensive' should not just be determined by Strength Values and weapon Type (Assault, Heavy, etc.) but the location on the vehicle - sponsons should always ben defensive. Always.

You telling me that Mr. Twin-Linked Lascannon on the right side of a Land Raider sits silent even when there are targets in LOS because the other gun is firing? Does the Heavy Flamer on the left side of a Leman Russ do nothing when surrounded by the enemy because it can't shoot at the same target as the gun on the other side of the fething tank.

The current (and previous two edition's worth of) vehicle rules are just bonkers.

Unlikely hbmc, 6th will spit on the mech meta and make oddles of infantry better with some crazy rule like lucky glancing hit for bolters and lasguns.

I look forward to this for I own two vehicles

I think there is a recognition in the studio that TLOS has been a mistake that leads to dull games, so I would imagine there would be some development of this in the next edition, whenever it arrives.

Not really aware of anything else.

I think Deadshane1 and Shaman have hit it right. The present edition favours armour/vehicles; so that's what everyone's buying. The 6th edition will therefore change the rules so that people will put their vehicles on the shelf and buy more figures. GW are a commercial organisation - rule changes aren't to make the game better, they're to sell more stuff.

Preventing small squads, in my opinion, leads to boring games (One of the reasons I have refused to play 5th). I perfer my games to have as many units with a bite on the table (On both sides) as possible.
