Agreed that suit is glorious, and demolishes every previous suit design by both forge world and games work shop in ever way. This thing makes me want to take a tau army.

Not really... we are talking a crisis suit with the equivelent of 7 hard points. On a regular crisis suit a twin linked option takes up 2 spots. Then it also has the retro system which os another spot. There is also the built in Multitracker. That is 6 right there. Add in that you must take something from the list in it's entry and that brings it up to 6 for 65 + extra system cost. I was a little shocked though to see that the drone controller was 10 points instead of free like usual..

I am also wondering if these will work for Farsight. Fluff kind of points to "no" but then again there are some sympathizers who think he is doing the right things and might send him a few. These would look sweet in the armythat I already have with 15 crisis chasis in it.

It would sound likely, fits GWs ethos with needing to buy the GW product and use the FW product as an upgrade for it rather than FW produce a stand alone product. Since GW models are so bloody expensive now it's not such a huge jump to go from Cadians to DKoK and that might be perceived as hurting the main company.

LOL @ Waaagh_Gonads

I like the direction FW is taking the battlesuits. My only problem with this suite is the thin part from the feet to the knee, also, the legs in general look a little weak to support such a heavy upper body. It would be nice if they offered "Codex" weapons for this suite so it could be worked in without FW rules.

I really like that Tau suit. Totally didn't expect something like that compared to FW's other Tau releases.

I have to agree, the hazard suit looks really nice, I to will be buying three of them when they go out. Hopefully there will be more weapon options later one. Plasma rifles would be nice. Oohh, two twin linked CIBs would be really cool, even with the low strength, the amount of shots might make up for it.

I guess their designers get bored of retreading late 19th to mid-20th century themes all the time and like to take a crack at something genuinely SF.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

I pointed out a Crisis suit under the current Tau codex. A single veteran with TL Burst Cannon, multitracker, and retro thrusters comes out to 62 pts. He's also T4 while the new FW suit is T5. So points wise, I have to retract my previous statement. They're on the money. On a sidenote, you can't choose a targetting array as an option for it.

I like the suit, but as a robot. As a suit it doesn't really make sense. It reminds me of the Heavyarms because that particular gundam's custom version had a pair of giant chainguns on each arm. And even if it flies, it still needs something to land on, so the feet are still poorly designed.

I still like the model though. I just have some design concerns.

I hope that they make these as a regular GW item as they are doing with some FW items. I agree that the suit should not be a robot but an improvement on the crisis suit design. Even if they don't I think I might just start to replace my crisis suits with these. The feet don't bother me to much since crisis suits are using jet pack so the leg joints do not need to take that much shock since the jet thrust should let the suit land softly.

Not to mention it always gets a 4+ cover save and you don't get a charge bonus for assaulting it. Combine this with AV 13 and 11 on the back, ignores shaken and stunned results, has a MEQ killing 5" blast, an improved heavy flamer, and 4 choppy choppy attacks that go before PF...whats not to like? Seams like it can put out more hurt and have similar survivability to Bjorn for 65 pts less.

Just had a thought in regards to the Tau suit...

We've got Orks and Elysians for the next book, right?

We don't know where it's set yet, so there's a possibility of it being on a world near the Tau Empire, with a third faction consisting of the Tau harassing both sides.

Seems plausible. I'll tell you one thing. If this is true (Elysians + Orks + Tau), then consider me officially broke. Those are all my armies. I'm a sucker for any crisis suit variants. I'll be picking the new model up. I'll probably try and magnitize the arms though so I can replace them with codex weapons and use it as a commander for a standard 40k game.

Why would we see that?

Look at the Taros Campaign's outcome, the Elysians pretty much made the Tau have to slaughter them rather than surrendering. And that was with no Commissars present to enforce a "no surrender" policy.

But there are plenty of worlds that the Tau have taken where it's likely the PDF were swayed.

Definately a great suit - I don't like the arms, but with different weapon options, I think I might be moved to make my first forgeworld order.

Not as big a fan of the daemon engines - like the concept, but those two models just don't grab me. I liked the other slaughterer better, and the hulk looks like something you could make out of bitz and greenstuff - forgeworld is most interesting to me when it makes stuff I could never in a 1000 years do... like an all new crisis suit, or the ork tank with interior, etc.

ok that battle suit looks stupid :s all the games workshop battle suits are annoyingly box like but, apart from the new one, all the forge world ones are epic and look great. why does this one have to look so different? :S it looks daft tbh

It's a fast attack option. My guess is they were going for a lighter/faster look for this suit, which is why it looks so different from the rest of the suits. I like that it's so different. It gives the army more variety. Also it's listed as XV9 so it's suppose to be a different line from the XV8- suits.

I get where you are coming from. you are worried that the look isn't consistent, but remember that XV25s, XV22s and XV15s all look completely different from the XV8- series as well. I think it looks just like a different newer design rather than a boost in technology. I think most people are having problems with the slender legs. They really just look like longer less armored versions of the standard XV8 legs to me. All the suits have that bovine leg design (as well as the tau themselves). The weapons are just twinlinked burst cannons so nothing too radical there, and it has a more sporty jet pack on it's back.

Yeah, nah i completely agree with all that, i just think it is like taking the whole battle suit mental-ness one step to far, the rest looked like awesome, powerful machines, this looks like anime gone wrong almost.

Elysians had commissars present, during the first wave when all officers were killed a commissar took command. All survivors of the operation were thrown into hard labour camps, except for general Syckava (Can't remember the exact name)
